First of all, I live in NJ and work in NYC, so I am a little particular about my pizza. I remember that there was no good slices in town until the "secret" place at Como. But the last time I was there I saw a bunch of new places. But I didn't have an opportunity to try any. So what are the new pizza places that one should consider?

    Thanks

I'm live in NJ, too and love good pizza. Hidden Pizza at Cosmo is very good. We got the munchies and went to Pin-Up pizza at PH. Took a good look at their pies and walked over to Cosmo. The pizza at Pin-up was not fully cooked. It was still white on the bottom and the on the crust. Metro pizza at Ellis Island is hit or miss but when it's on, it's very good. Grimaldi's at Palazzo is good but I like the Grimaldi's out by SunCoast better. Both are better than the pie I got "under the Brooklyn Bridge"

I would recommend Five50 at Aria. I eat there at least once per trip and always satisfied.

I live in South Jersey between Philly and AC. Half the restaurants here are Italian and there is no shortage of good Italian food. What we don't have is a plethera of good Mexican and Tex-Mex food. Just a few spots in the whole region. Now in Las Vegas it's just the opposite. Tons of great Mexican places and few, if any, good Italian places.
Be regional. When you're home, eat what they're good at: Pizza and Italian. When you're in Las Vegas, eat what they're good at: Mexican.
Next you'll be asking where you can get a good cheesesteak on the Strip. :evillaugh

Personally, I thought Secret Pizza was too oily. Tasty but oily. Maybe it was a bad day.

I think Pizza Rock has a good NY style slice.

I had Five50 once and thought it was very tasty

Secret pizza is a little oily but it's good; especially when you're had a couple drinks. it's great drunk NY/NJ style pizza.

Grimaldi's is the closest we've found to a genuine NYC slice.

Secret Pizza and Grimaldis are both solid but Five50 is a little better imo.

Five50 is excellent. Btw, I live in NYC and, contrary to popular belief, most of the pizza places here suck. Most of the bagel places suck too. You have to really know where to go for a good slice/bagel. If you walk into a random by-the-slice place (most of which aren't run by Italians anymore), chances are it will be mediocre.

A very true and accurate statement.

I wish I liked pizza more because I have some great pizza joints close by me.

The worst is the 99c pizzas, tasteless cardboard. I like Sacco on 9th avenue but the last few times it was less tasty. I have yet to try Di Fara's.

Pizza Rock. They don't just "do" one type of pizza - they've got different ovens (i.e., gas, wood, coal...) to do it right.

True. Most of the pizza places by me are owned by Brooklyn or Staten Island refugees. But they are still hit or miss. And bring up pizza on the town Facebook group and watch out!

Another vote for Pizza Rock. I've only had the slices there, but I like the way they have different ovens for different types of pizzas.

I usually stop at Five50 at least once per trip now. I was initially upset that they removed the sports bar from that area, because that was a great place for a snack, but I have to say it's a very convenient meal when playing poker at Aria.

We like Project Pie downstairs at MGM, nice thin crust and good flavour.

Pizza Rock is top of our list for this trip
