Vegas novice first solo trip 11/2 - 11/6

I am reading as much as I can since I found out work is sending me to Vegas next week. Staying on the strip. Gotta be honest, feeling a little intimidated. [emoji52]

You'll have a great time. Since this is a business trip I'd say to just take in the sights and enjoy yourself. There is simply too much to do/see/experience to have a set game plan for your first time in LV. Just go with the flow and make some mental notes on places and things you'd like to see when you return.

garn - seriously - don't let yourself worry about this...I know - easy to say, but try anyway. I suspect all of us were a bit anxious for our first trip, and quickly discovered that there was nothing to worry about at all.
As for feeling intimidated - you're at the right place (VMB) to learn all of the basics you'll need to fit right in, whatever gaming you choose to explore.
There really is an incredible amount of spot-on information to be had here... a lot of differing opinions as well, but I trust that you can discern the difference.

Just a handful of tips to bear in mind:
1. If you take a cab from the airport, be sure to tell the driver "No tunnel please." He may try to convince you that the tunnel is faster. Just tell him that you're not in a hurry.
2. If you're going to gamble (and I have to assume you will be!), be sure to get a player's card at every casino you gamble at. You don't have to go to the 'Player's Club' desk if you play table-games...just give them your driver's license & the pit will get a player's card for you.
3. Bankroll management & session management. Have a plan ahead of time as to how much you'll risk each day, and how much you'll risk at any given session. Stick with it.
4. Smoking is permitted throughout most of the casinos (except for the resturaunts). Be prepared for that, although the ventilation at most places is superb.
5. If you're on the strip (and I assume you are, this being a business trip) the casinos may look close, but they're really not. You can still walk to them, but be prepared for long walks. I always advise folks to cab it, unless the casino is right next door, or two over. (If you drink, then don't rent a car... part of the fun of Las Vegas is being able to drink without having to moderate too much).

Topcard, thank you so much. I have the most fun meeting new people. I am a people person for sure. I actually came to this forum to see if there was a meet up, but had no idea how awesome this site would be.

 

#5 (above) is spot on. Be prepared to walk....a lot. Wear comfy shoes.

Enjoy the sights. Play what you can afford but pace yourself. Conventions can be rough. I remember going to bed at 5am every night that week only to get up at 7:30 for the conference. Long ass days [emoji99]

 

Check out Google Maps before you go. That'll give you an idea on distances between places.
Get a couple of envelopes, and split up your bank roll for the different days.
Drink lots of water. Even though it's going to be cooler, Vegas is a lot dryer than just about everywhere else.

 

I'll get the practical advice out of the way. Even though it's not summer you should drink water more than you do at home.

Don't miss the touristy things like the Bellagio fountains at night and the Bellagio conservatory. Take a walk through Wynn & Encore and have a drink at Parasol Down at night.

 

I'll also throw in this idea: Take some Chapstick with you. If you come from a humid environment it will come in handy. For some reason when I visit in July this is never a problem but my November trips I definitely need Chapstick.
