Every year we spend a day at the MSS. Very disappointed this year. The liberal VP has been tightened. The Red Ale on tap was dry. The whole vibe was off. If it wasn't for Oleg I may not return.
Oleg the bartender at the Boars Head bar is such a Vegas jewel. I will miss him.

so your 1 day per year makes it not what it used to be. Hate to tell you, but none of them are. But if you hit, it would have been great. We will await your 1 day review next year. I presume you didn't stay there either.

lol - true story, I "hate" the D for losing last trip and for some reason "love" the Rio because I won last trip... wait what did I say, I love the Rio? ;): MSS still has the only 9/6 bar tops at the quarter level downtown or the strip if I am not mistaken...thus they are still the most liberal.

And lets be honest, the beer at MSS is really not that great anyway. If you live near a great brewery such as New Glarus or any top ranked brewery in the US, "craft" beers like those from MSS all have that same "craft" flavor. MSS is all about the vibe. I have only popped in and out, and it always has the same quiet, comfortable vibe and I am sure it always will.

Joe - dont slay me for hating on the MSS beers :) I have no issue slugging a few down (and they hit me) they are worth the $1.75 asking price at the casino bar but I dont think much more.

Have to second eaglejohn-none are what they used to be. But as far as I remember MSS has had the only 9/6 quarter bartop for about ten years. They still have it. And while craft beers have changed a lot over the past ten years, the beers at MSS have not.

The MSS CW's are still beautiful. And friendly. And efficient. And well endowed.

Last bar I went to in the states I had an option ranging from 8 dollar Schlitz tall boys to 14 buck half pints of Thunderstuck IPA I had both and enjoyed them for what they are. The 2 dollar "typical" craft beers available at the Boars Head are one of the best values going IMHO. Now if someone could show me how not to pay 21 dollars for one I would be overjoyed.

MSS is due for a bit of Renovation in my opinion but I'm not sure how they could do it without losing it's "feel". The rooms could use a refresh and a shower that cleans above the collarbone. The casino could use a second VP bar but beyond that I'm stumped.

$8 schlitz? I hope that tall boy was at least 64 ounces.

They have issues there. I forgot to mention this in my TR. They have ANOTHER new brewmaster AGAIN. I've lost track, but I think that is #3 or 4 in the last two years. When we were there two weeks ago he had only been on the job two weeks. So, I guess none of the taps right now were brewed by him.

Yeah craft beer really has exploded in the last decade, and most casinos aren't keeping up. :( when I first had the marker pale ale i was pretty disappointed because this forum hyped the beer up a lot. But for some reason it tasted better in august. Maybe a better tap? I've been noticing that being a huge factor at places I've went to lately. Stone Arrogant Bastard, which I love, was barely drinkable at Orleans last trip out of their tap.

But I would like to know what has been "downgraded" too. VPFree2 hasn't reported much missing lately. If it was just bad luck, probably can't be any worse than wanker's July visits to MSS. [emoji15]
Yeah that's crazy. Wonder what rip off joint he went to.

Only thing at MSS I'd say has gone down hill is the buffet. But that's also true of most other places that offer one.

Me thinks it was that the op did not win therefore the vp was been downgraded.

I am not as much as a beer snob as you or others but I think the beer is good there. Is it the best ever not sure anyone claimed it was but better than what is on tap most casino bars.

And yeah July was a beating...

I played VP at MSS just a few weeks ago. The VP tables were the same as they have been for a while now. So no recent tightening of VP. Perhaps you are confusing a run of bad variance with tight video poker? I've had days where I couldn't make full houses to save my life much less 4 of a kinds.

Hate to say it but to me it seems like all the vegas casinos have tightened their machines. I remember when I could put in $40 and it would last a few hours. Lately $40 will only get you about 20 or 25 minutes (or less) of play unless you hit something.
