    My Trip Report

Before I begin this trip report I have to commend the flight crew of our departing flight. Southwest flight 1769 from Indianapolis to Las Vegas. About half an hour into the flight a man seated mid-plane suffered a hear attack. Thankfully, a few nurses were on board and were able to care for him with the help of the crew. The crew was just great. They kept the passengers informed and clam during the situation. It was clear they were stressed, however they still kept things light-hearted at times. We landed in St. Louis so the man could be taken to the hospital. Here is a picture of the crew. I would happily fly with them again.

And now to the fun stuff. I almost exclusively make solo trips and don't make trip reports. I know this is shitty, because I enjoy so much reading reports. This time however, I brought some family members along and did some sightseeing. Therefore, I decided a post trip report would be in order. Because we had two Vegas Virgins in the group, we decided to spend two nights downtown and two on the strip.

I made my ceremonial first stop at In-N-Out.

I haven't stayed downtown in a LONG time. And I remembered why. The crowd was just not for me. There were some uh...interesting sights to be seen on Fremont. We stayed at the D. I had a "D Suite". It was pretty decent. The bed was FANTASTIC. I like it more than Aria beds. It's a bit firmer, but not much. The finishings were decent, but nothing like a nice suite on the strip. The service from the hotel staff was horrible. We arrived to check in around 2pm. We were told our two standard rooms were ready, but my suite was not. That's fine, check in is advertised at 3pm. I had no problem waiting. I went up and hung out in one of the other rooms. At about 3pm I get a call telling me the suite is ready. I go down to get the key and head up to the suite. As I get to the room I get a call on my cell phone telling me it isn't ready, something to do with a TV problem. I would have to bring they key back and wait. I ended up waiting another half hour to be put in a different suite on a lower floor at the very end of the hall after I specifically requested to be near the elevator. I finally get in the room at about 4:30. I had no problems after that, but it was quite a frustrating experience. I thought about finding Derek Stevens and letting him know, but I decided it wasn't worth it. I played a bit in the high limit "room". It was dead almost the whole time I was there. I'm not a fan of playing alone and no one else in my group could play the $50 minimums at blackjack or baccarat. I did leave The D up about $3k, so that was ok. And I did play blackjack for a bit with Wilmer Valderrama from That 70's Show. He was just one of the guys until he left and everyone started talking about him. Some photos of the suite (please excuse the mess):

The living room has three TVs, which is neat. However, the tv service only had about 15-20 channels.

We drove down the Bootlegger for dinner one night. It was a pretty neat joint. The veal parm was great. We enjoyed the musical stylings of George Bugatti. He was very good.

We took a day trip to the Hoover Dam and the Valley of Fire. I've been to the Dam before so I forgot to take any pictures this time. It was crowded as usual. The Valley of Fire was absolutely breathtaking. The photos just cannot do it justice. The whole trip was about a six hour round trip and well worth it.

Lots going on around Wynncore for the debate.

We saw Jersey Boys and really loved it. I've been meaning to see it forever, but just haven't got around to it. I almost never visit CET properties.

On to the Sky Suites, my favorite. As usual, the service and accommodations were impeccable. I almost never rent a car in Vegas and this was my first time renting a car while staying at the Sky Suites. I must say it was quite inconvenient. The way everything is laid out the north valet pickup is sort of out of the way. But this isn't the fault of Aria as most Sky Suites guests just use the limos. I had a one bedroom penthouse and we also had two standard rooms in the Sky Suites.

At check in I was all the way to the left of the counter and I look over to my right and I swear I saw Ron Paul checking in. I asked my sister and she said she thought it was him too. I'm not the type to approach celebrities in public so I didn't really think anything else of it, especially with the debate in town. Come to find out it was him and he was staying in Sky Suites.

Yes, I had spaghetti and creme brulee in bed. DO NOT JUDGE ME!

The last thing we did before leaving was visit the place from Tanked. I've only seen a few episodes, but some of my family really like the show. It was neat, but there wasn't a lot to see. I did enjoy the Macaws.

Sadly, no chip porn here. I took a beating at Aria, down $10k. I still had a great time though. Ready to go back in December!

Thanks for posting a complete report.
The reality is that it is certainly hard to compare a Strip suite to a downtown one. But, I thought the D suite looked very nice.

He was so good. And quite a nice guy. We chatted for a few minutes on my way out. My grandmother was with us and I think she was a bit smitten.

    Hey Cooler,
Good report. One of these trips I need to check out Valley of Fire.
How are the rules in the high limit room at the D? DAS, S17, shoe or DD?
Thanks.... and my apologies in advance for the coming beat-down Sunday night!
    Revenge Tour rolls on! :nono:

The Valley of Fire was amazing. I highly recommend it. The rules were good on one table. It was DD, S17, and I believe DAS. No surrender. And nice looking dealers.

I will not accept your apologies. May the best man win.

Love your pics of the Valley of Fire! My hubby and I came across a Groupon a couple of years ago for Adrenaline ATV Tours and were able to ride ATVs through there ~ it was fabulous! Here's a link to their website if you're interested: http://www.atvlasvegas.com/

    Great trip report!

Nice report. Sounds like bad luck at The D, I've never had that much of a headache, but I've never been in a suite there before.

And, just look at it this way... Aria is just holding your chips, and is going to give it back to you with interest.

That sounds like a ton of fun. I might have to check that out.

Nice report, loved the pictures of your rooms. The 3 TVs would be great during football sundays.

It would, if the channel selection was decent. There were only 15-20 channels max.
