Stayed at the Cromwell this past weekend. On Sunday night/Mon morning there was a fight. The girl at the front desk told us they one elevator was broken because the people were fighting in it and broke it and the other was closed down by the hotel due to the fight. We as guests had to use the service elevator. We were checking out and there were a lot of us, with our suitcases all crammed in this hot elevator that was in situated in a dirty back area of the floor.. So when we got down we saw that there were were police everywhere.. We cannot find any news on this anywhere. I assume they try to keep this out of the news. One of the ladies on our elevator had to be escorted by the police just to get coffee that morning. She had a niece that was a reporter and sent her the info about the fight. But nothing is showing on line.

Just wondering if anyone has any information on the fight in the casino....or if this is a common occurrence? Also on that very same night while playing they had an ambulance there taking a girl out on a stretcher. She looked pretty out of it.

I really liked the hotel and we are in our 60's. Just think maybe with this Drai's nightclub being there it is not a safe place to be. While trying to find info on this fight I saw where when Drai's was in Bally's there was a shooting and 1 man was killed.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and when we went to go to the pool at the Cromwell as hotel guests we were denied access. We were told by the hotel that we could go to the pool each day from 10 to 11 when the beach club is not open. Two couples tried going down..both hotel guests who were there for the seven star event. Both denied access from the people working at Drai's. They said the hotel gave us wrong info and we cannot go in. Then when they allowed us to go in they searched my purse...took my breath mints out and said I could not take these in since it was food??? And then took my daily medication out of my purse and held it up in the air and said I could not bring this in and when I told them I was disabled the bouncer held up my pills in front of everyone there and asked me what they were. I got very upset and left the area crying. I was treated like a criminal. This was between 10 and 11am. And the hotel did nothing for me. Except today I got an email that they would give me $50 credit on my next visit. The manager said the nightclub was wrong and the pool is open to guests from 10am to 11am. The Drai's website even says this..well actually it says 10:30am. But that is when I was there.. Very poorly treated at this hotel.

So you get one hour per day at the pool, that is it? That is for sure a deal breaker for me. Sorry to hear you were treated so poorly, I have heard nothing of the fight. We had a similar experience at PH years ago. There were police and ambulances everywhere, people covered in blood, one going on a stretcher and nothing was said in the news or local paper.

Yikes. Must have been a hell of a fight. Totally unacceptable the way you were treated. Keep complaining to the hotel. Keep writing reviews. A lot of the hotels seem to be sensitive to tripadvisor. Lots of better places for you to stay for a quieter vacation for the same price.

Interesting comments and sorry you had a bad experience, I have read many good reviews of the Cromwell and was actually booked there for 4th of July weekend which we unfortunately had to cancel (we decided to go to Orlando instead).. on the phone everyone was very helpful.. Maybe you just caught them at a bad time? As far as the fights, I can only imagine with all the drunk people fights happen all the time and really aren't news :ssst:

We spend 5-6 hours every morning at the pool in vegas. I would be PISSED if I booked a room there and couldn't use the pool when I wanted. That's what you get with these crappy day/night club pools. They cater to the bottle service jersey shore ******bag crowds. Well check them off of my list of places to stay.

I suspect casino fights are so common it isn't something the local media will report (plus I'm sure there is an understanding/tradition that the Vegas media keeps quiet about minor guest turmoil in casinos as it is in everyone's interest to promote Vegas as a safe tourist destination).

the press in Vegas will not even cover suicides (not that I necessarily see that as a bad thing) so covering a fight that does not at least leave anyone on life support is probably not going to happen

as for the pool and the treatment I would reply to the manager that the $50 credit for next time is useless because there will be no next time

and normally I would probably say that a club bouncer should be able to tell the difference between a regular guest trying to use the pool and a club kiddie, but unfortunately in todays world there are people in the age group of the OP (and above) that would be in the "business" of sneaking in pills to sell to club kiddies, but the treatment was still unacceptable and of course in Vegas you can pretty much only count on a bouncer being a meathead and an asshole at most venues

and I love the Manny VS mayweather comment :evillaugh

also you have to wonder how in the hell you break an elevator in a fight it is like in the movies or on TV when one idiot goes to punch another idiot and they miss and bash in the controls and they start shooting sparks and smoke blows out (and with electronics if you let the smoke out they stop working of course)

or I suspect the elevator was just all bloody and filled with other fluids and needed to be cleaned that or the statement of the other one not being used and a police escort to get through the lobby perhaps they had a larger "element" on the property they had to clear out and they were concerned that if that "element" came in contact with each other it would set off more fights before they got them all cleared out

either way the experience sounds less than "high end"

On Monday, Tues, Wed and Thursday the pool is available for guests during regular hours. The beach club is not open on those days. But on Friday, Sat and Sunday the pool is open for guests for 1 hour then it becomes the beach club. Guests are still welcome but you have to go through check in which means a purse check..showing your id and such. At this point there is a young crowd up there and it is very noisy. So the Cromwell invites you to go to the Flamingo pool or Caesars. You can also go to any CZR properties.

It is a beautiful hotel...I loved our room and the location. I did not love being treated like a criminal.

I think you are right about the fight and not reporting it. Another person said they want to make people think Vegas is totally safe. Since then I heard from a friend who's daughter went to Drai's beach and night club and said there is drugs everywhere. So apparently the bouncers checked the wrong person. You certainly can tell that we are senior citizens....so the purse check and taking out my drugs was totally inappropriate. And holding them up in the air for everyone to see was horrible treatment. Drai's wants young good looking people in there who are dressed to the 9's. I don't think they want a chubby elderly couple in there and that i think was also part of the issue. Yet this elderly women is a seven star player so you know she plays a lot. I would think that is who you would want to come to your hotel. Someone who is going to play and be respectful of your property.

I also love the Manny vs Mayweather comment too!!

I truly loved my room. It was so quaint and nice. I loved the location of the Cromwell. I am disabled and it is hard for me to walk. The location was perfect for getting around. And since the casino is not very big you can come down the elevator....well if ithey are working.....and get right out to the street. I just hated that I was humiliated and treated like a criminal. That was totally wrong and left me very upset. I mean when you are crying and cannot even talk to the manager and your husband has to speak for you...you know it was a horrible experience.

I recall two times when people were reporting negatively about LV issues---after 9/11 when planes were grounded and during the NBA All Star game.

During 9/11, people were stuck in the city and the hotels were trying to get top dollar from people who couldn't get out.

During the NBA All Star game, the behavior on the streets by the mobs was criminal and dangerous to the regular tourist.

Nothing was ever published in the mainstream papers.

I am appalled by the treatment you received and I would never stay in that hotel nor step foot in Drais after hearing what you went through. Taking your medication and waving it around like that was a ploy to humiliate you and make you so uncomfortable that you would leave. I know you probably don't want to be bothered but offering you a $50 credit is not acceptable. Stories like this make my blood boil. I'm a 36 year old 7stars member and my hard earned money will be spent elsewhere.

I urge you to post a full review of this on the Cromwell Hotel's Tripadvisor page - if only to warn others

What a disgusting way to be treated - I certainly won't be staying or gambling there

I agree 10,000 percent, this is unacceptable. Please post a review on TA/yelp/expedia/etc..and follow-up again and again with the property until you are refunded or better!

Sorry you had to go through this...quite shocking that the pool is only open for one hour, so basically they don't have a pool on the weekends!

I have found Twitter is a really fast way to get somebody's attention. Tweet out about your horrible treatment @drais @cet and @totalrewards. I'd be surprised if someone didn't contact you. Sorry you went thru that ordeal. I hope you're not still upset. Don't let one ****** get to you.

The medication thing sounds like lawsuit material. Under our medical privacy laws that cannot be done and you likely have a suit on your hands. I would consult your lawyer.
