    My Trip Report

I originally booked a bus day trip to Atlantic City to celebrate my wife's birthday...the trip got canceled due to lack of people; so I decided to take her to the near by (40 miles away) Mohegan Sun Casino. We did dinner at Outback and got to the casino around 2pm. My wife has very good luck at that casino, me not so much. as we usually do, we separated Me to the VP machines I prefer and her to her slots. After an hour or so I was still playing on the house with the original $20 in free play that was on my players card. (I am a low roller). Every 15 minutes I heard the announcement of a prize they were running where if you heard your name you had 10 minutes to get to a certain place and you'd get $250 in free play. I had just run out of their money and had put a $20 into the VP machine when I heard my name ...I quickly cashed out and stopped to ask security where I was to go to collect my prize. I got there with time to spare.
They put the $250 on my card and I went back to the VP section. I played for an hour more and quit while I was still ahead by $220. I met up with my wife and she had a voucher in hand worth $225 (she was $150 on the plus side). We had a good dinner and a good time at the casino...leaving a few hundred ahead wa an added bonus!!

What a nice way to celebrate your wife's birthday! And both having good luck along the way was icing on the cake..
Visited Mohegan Sun about a year ago with friends, very nice place and had good fun with a bit of luck thrown in...

I was born and raised in Carbon County, about 45 miles south of Wilkes Barre...Have lived in Texas since college days, but for me there is nothing like the Poconos, I still miss the snow and the mountain laurel in the spring!

Hope to read your future posts and continued good luck!

I live just south of there, in Schuylkill County, Mahanoy City...at exit 131 on I-81. Snow I can do without, :rolleyes2: It looks nice, sucks to shovel...I enjoy all 4 seasons and like the lower cost of living. Having a few coal region beers is also a good thing. :drunk:

Thanks for the TR, been to Mohegan Sun once but I could not take the smoking side of the casino and had difficulty finding unoccupied machines on the non smoking side. It has a cool layout and the raised bar in the middle was nice.

Picked up a case of Straub Summer Sampler a couple weeks ago, not exactly coal region beer, but it's only sold in PA and Ohio. The Vienna and Pilsner are both excellent. It's brewed up in St. Mary's.

We toured the Straub Brewery years ago, early morning tour then a free sample. Turned into one of the owners sending out for pizzas, and us leaving at about 3pm. Luckily my buddies wife barely drinks so we had a driver

Glad you and the wife had a good time at MS..... Nice to hear they called your name for the 250 in free play...

We go there pretty often since we live close to Mahanoy City and I grew up there... so takes just 40 minutes and we go in the back way using Bear Creek exit and driving past Geisinger, .

Their rooms are really nice but I prefer Mt Airy better, they seem to be more generous ...

I enjoyed reading your trip report....
