I have to admit that dive bars are one of my secret vices - I love a rough and ready place to drink beer and, having looked into the situation in Vegas, I note that there is a reasonable selection there that I have never visited. My research has led me to come up with a selection of places and a proposed route, as follows:

    Stage Door
    Ellis Island
    The Office
    Double Down
    The Dive Bar
    Huntridge Tavern
    Frankie's Tiki Room
    Dinos
    Hard Hat
    Red Label

I'm hoping the Board can help me out with a couple of answers to these questions:

    1) I think this follows a fairly logical geographic circuit but if Google Maps has led me astray, please point that out to me.
    2) Any thoughts on the bar selection and anything I should be adding or subtracting?
    3) An important one: How do I get from A to B? Would cabs be available at these bars? I recognise that some may be in slightly shady areas where I don't want to be hanging around. I've considered getting a limo to travel around in, but that's kind of incongruous for a dive bar crawl.

I'd welcome any thoughts or suggestions on my proposed adventure.

    Thanks
    Bri

For that reason it would be excellent. :)

Otherwise just phone for a cab, if it comes quickly it's a good excuse to down your drink, but if it takes a while it's a good excuse to have another...

Guy - I like the way you're approaching the problem.

I've got 10 bars that I'm aiming to get to here, so I'm trying to average two beers per stop. I think I'll manage twenty beers, but I'll probably need someone else to call cabs for me towards the end of the evening, to aid with comprehension. And not just because of my accent.

Uber is a perfect app for things like this. You just need to know the address of the next bar you're going to, so you can enter it in and the driver knows where they're taking you. You may benefit from writing down the addresses beforehand to make that easier around beer number 12 or so.

Thanks, Smartone, I'll take a look at Davy's Locker and see about adding it to the list. Eleven bars may be pushing it - but we'll see what we can manage.

bdautch - Is Uber back up and running in Vegas now? I thought there was some local difficulty for them?

Also - I forgot about one other question I had. I'm thinking about a Monday night for this. Am I right in thinking that Monday is Porn Star Karaoke night at Red Label? If so, that's the perfect reason for making that the last stop of the evening.

Karaoke XXX seems to have relocated to The End - Bunker Bar, a zombie-themed bar, on Mondays.

Actually, karaokexxx only appears to be on the first Monday of each month and changes locations each time. Check the Twitter or webpage for details.

Thanks, MrSandsman. I'll keep an eye on that calendar to see whether the karaoke is a viable option. Either way, I'll be doing the crawl in probably roughly this order anyway unless something crops up that would tempt me off-route.

Great list... I've been to and love almost all of them. One thing.... This is a VERY ambitious bar crawl. I would be shocked if you hit each place, unless you limited it to a drink or 2 at each stop. In my bar crawl experience, you'll start having a good time after a few stops and then you'll "land" for several beverages. Plan decimated.

Thanks Nick. I know it's ambitious, and I may not get through it all, but I share the perspective of Hunter S. Thompson that you highlight in your sig.

I Agree! You could easily spend a couple hours in Frankie's Tiki Room alone. I love that place!

Essentials in my book are: Stage Door, Doubledown, Dinos and Frankies (the rum drinks at Frankies equal 1-3 pints of beer alcohol wise) Also consider the Atomic lounge if you are downtown (it's gone a bit upmarket but lots of history)

As a general rule try to end the evening at the bar within stumbling distance of where you are staying. Let us know how it turned out

That is a great list. We used a limo a couple of years ago to do a dive bar tour. Only hit four bars in a six hour span. Uber would be a good way to go as well.

You forgot Money Plays 4755 W Flamingo Rd just down the street from Palms. Great place to hang out. I like to take the bus starting here and going to Stage Door next, and finally ending at The Dive Bar since they are all on or just off Flamingo.

We did a dive bar crawl last May; Doubledown, Dino's and Frankie's. Doubledown is an experience but I really liked Dino's and Frankie's. Met some friendly locals at both. Hang onto your hat at Frankie's.......those drinks are wicked strong!
