    Hi all,

I don't have much past experience with slot play, and could really use some feedback from those of you in the know. I'm helping a family member.

    - For one night in Vegas, how is 1,250 rewards credit (2,250 tier score which I think include bonus)? I think that's about $6,250 coin in if I read things right. Seems pretty respectable to me, and is fairly representative of level of play.

Would this level of play deserve a host? (there's a reason i ask which I won't get into here).

Any general insight into where this stands would be great.

    - It may not make sense and be silly with this level of play and sample size, but I'd like to call M Life and get them to comp a few weekend nights to move play over there.

I'm sure one answer would be to book an M Life room and get the comp after the play, but I don't think this person will move to an M Life property unless it's already comped.

Thanks - I really appreciate the advice.

I think we need a bit more information. Did you family member stay in a CET hotel on a comp the night they got the points? If so, how many nights did they stay and did they only gamble one night?

I'm sorry to say but I don't believe that was enough to get noticed by a host. Usually if they notice you, a slots host will find you on the floor and introduce themselves but it wouldn't hurt to call and speak to one to have them review the play.

Earning that many tier points in a day will not get you a host. Now, if you do that level multiple days, maybe. But 2250 tier credits isn't even halfway to Platinum status, let alone Diamond. I'm assuming you're talking per day, over a number of days?

I'll let others comment on how M Life would compare and match. But generally, M Life is much tighter on comp nights than TR. I'm guessing you'd have to be Diamond (15,000+ tier points) to get M Life's attention.

You could always try to call a host at the mlife property your interested in. If you provide your name and birth date, a mlife host will usually have a relationship with a CET host and can verify your play. I agree with Peachiekeehn, you haven't provided enough information. If that is typical daily play over a trip, I think mlife would probably comp hotel upfront, but most likely not at their higher end properties.

I don't think that one day of 1250 TC will get you a host. You need to show multiple days of gaming activity. IMHO, 3 days at 500 TC apiece would show up more than one 1250 TC day.

I'm curious as to why you think you "need" a host.

Remember, a host cannot get you things that you aren't entitled to. A host just makes it easier to get the things that you ARE entitled to.

Sorry if that seems harsh, but it's the reality of the situation.

Oh, and IMHO, with mLife, it's is even tougher to get weekend rooms.

Your property of choice is also a factor. For rooms at Aria or Bellagio, most likely not. For MGM Grand, Mirage, or Mandalay Bay, not likely, but maybe, for any of the other properties, a definite maybe.

However, all that being said, "If you don't ask . . .you don't get".

My comment would be that it's not your tier level that define's your worth, but ADT. You could very easily get to Diamond at CET by frequently visiting your local CET casino and playing very small over many days. Not all Diamond or 7 Star players are created equally.

Lets start with why you are looking specifically for an MGM room based on 1 day's play at a competing casino.

Reading between the lines of your host question, did you get some sort of "not worth my time" brush off from a CET host, and are looking to jump ship? Or they just really really want a specific hotel, or you want them staying with you?

1 day's play is not much of a baseline and 6250 coin in is unlikely to knock anyone's socks off. Your best bet at CET is the calendar unless you get some freeplay or slot tournament offers. I doubt MLIFE would match, but if your friend doesn't want to be a long term CET player anyway, I'd say book through the calendar, no play CET, and do their playing at MLIFE, and then see if how they played merits any offers there.

They shouldn't change how they play for better offers (will NEVER be worth it). Just change where and when you play and see what offers result.

I doubt a host would bother, and if he did, do not expect much. What is is you/friend think a host might help with?

I totally agree. The level is only good for a quick, rough measurement. Especially after CET instituted the bonus points and credit card upgrade. "You're gold? Don't even bother. Platinum? Good for you, but no. Diamond? Well, let's dig a little deeper and see what kind of player you REALLY are."

It almost sounds like the OP's is trying to see if play at CET can be used to earn status/comps at MGM. That's difficult for many reasons. And when I've heard on here about people who do get matched at rival properties, I've noticed a theme of "we can't give you the same number of nights and FP, but we'll give you something and see how you do for future offers".

Thanks everyone for all the feedback. I'll give a little more info for clarity and answer some specific questions.

I know threads like this often seem fishy, like someone is running an angle or something, so to summarize:

+ I have a relative how plays dollar slots. Her status/points were at zero because of no recent LV trip, but based on older play TR offered free nights + cash.

+ The 1250/2250 credit balance/tier score was for one even, but is representative of play.

+ I'm and M Life property fan, and would like to get her over there. She wouldn't go unless it's comped (can't say 'let's pay $500 and then get comped). I thought that if M Life knew how she plays they might offer her free stays.

The reason I asked about a host is that if you all thought that level of play was decent enough, a host could comp it up front where until there is some previous play I can' book it through the M Life website. Believe me - I don't want a host. I'd rather not deal with someone since there is no need for food or show comps.

One night, one day this year. No other play.

    Thx. I may try.

Thx. Understood. See above for why I asked about a host.

I'm a fan of Aria, so since that's obviously tougher I'm not too hopeful. However, even most of the room comped would be fine.

No - TR host is offering free nights anywhere plus cash and credits. I just like MLife properties.

Just getting the initial stay at comped (or at least partial)

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the best possibility. There certainly isn't enough there, especially if they can't see past years play, to warrant them being very impressed. Still, it would be worth their while on some level.

Thanks again to everyone. Hope this clears up the remaining questions.

CET Policy, with or without a host is to first use your reward credits and any comps above and beyond that are at the host's discretion. Based on the play as you described your relative would be entitled to $12.50 in comps (Plus some possible bonus reward credits). Based on my experience, I don't think they would grant any discretionary comps for that level of play. During the next quarter they would begin to receive mailings with 2 or so nights comped at Harrah's, Rio, Flamingo or Bally's.

I must say I disagree. The $12.50 you mention would indeed be the RC balance earned from $6250 coin in on slots. However, one can also earn backend comps based on theoretical loss. Assuming an 8% hold for CET dollar slots on the Strip (that's just a guess but I would assume its within a percent or two), the theo generated on $6250 coin in would be $500. Typically a player will receive ~30% of theo in the form of backend comps, which would be $150 in this case.

Take my most recent trip for example (two nights at Bally's last month). My room was comped upfront, and I earned a little over 1000 TCs on video poker each day, plus a few hours of table play. When I checked out, the host took care of the resort fees for both nights, plus a $50 brunch at Mon Ami, for a total of a little over $100 in back end comps. When you factor in that one must first "play out of" the front end room comp to receive any back end comps, that seems about right.

Unless you are a whale or at least a High Roller, trying to get upfront comped room without any history of play is a no go these days.
The best out come is a host book a room for you and comp it at the back end.
