Short poker tournaments

I'm looking for any poker tournaments on the Strip that don't run any longer than about 5hrs and have a buy in of $50-250ish.

My OH wants to play but I don't so we are looking for something that won't take all day and preferably be mid-strip so I can shop at Caesars or Miracle Mile

That is a list of the poker tourneys and times. How long they take I have no idea. You can check with the casino and see what they use for a time for ante raises

 

As for how long a tournament can last, it will usually be based on the number of players, the numbers of re-buys, and the blinds inceasing increments. (ie: 15minute blinds would make the game twice as fast as a 30minute blind increase)

 

Just remember, many of these tourneys have 15-20 minute levels, which make for all-in fests after only about 60-90 minutes.

 

On a semi-related note do any poker rooms offer Sit-n-Go tourneys? I'm too impatient to zen out for hours in a poker room, but if I could play an SnG that lasts an hour or two that might be fun. Could also be a decent option for the OP as well.

 

All poker tournaments usally turn out to be pretty short for me.

 

LOL me too. There are always the turbos, I might try one at the Rio, but only if there is a decent turn out. Don't know what to expect from their poker room but hopefully its not on life support when the WSOP isn't running.

 

Poker Atlas is my go-to site for poker tournaments.

Not sure if you still need help with this but we just returned from a week long visit. My husband played 10am tournament daily at Planet Hollywood. $80 buy in with a $1000 winner/$500 second. He chopped the pot every time so always came back making money. Latest it went was til 130.

I have a similar problem when I play as I don't want to leave the other half too long. In my 2 previous trips I have stuck to cash games. I still get my poker fix but can plan ahead and time how long I want my sessions to last. I've often found myself waking up at 5/6am due to the time difference from the UK so usually get an early morning seshion in and am done by 10/11am and meet the other half for breakfest. Works for us.

 

Seven to eight years ago there used to be Sit n Go tournaments everywhere, as little as $35 at the lower end properties... but they are pretty rare now: the format doesn't work that well for live casinos (vs. online) as there usually just aren't enough people sitting around waiting for one to start so the casinos would end up with a table with 5-8 players and a dealer just sitting there waiting to fill up.

For tournaments its hard to say how long they will take: really depends on how many people show up to play, where the more players playing, the longer it will take.

 

I second the Planet Hollywood tournament options. Guaranteed prize pool means more bang for your buck, small fields midweek, relatively small buy-in, 3 1/2 hours tops.

 

Not true at all. I avoid 15 min. blinds but play those with 20 min. blinds regularly and they are not All-in fests at all.

 

20 min blind is usually my min. Poker Atlas and Bravo Poker are two must have apps. Poker Atlas used to have full structures on there, but I don't think that's the case anymore.

 

Planet Hollywood or Monte Carlo probably your best bet.

Of course, you don't WANT the tournament to be over in a short time. If it's taking several hours that's a good sign.

 

But sometimes u don't have several hours...

 

With the exception of Aria's daily tournaments (7+ hours), and sometimes Bellagio or MGM because they'll occasionally have lots of runners (although I don't recall any of them going beyond 5 hours), you should be ok.

Caesars used to have a great poker room sectioned away from the main casino, but they remodeled into a night club (what else). It's still a good option for multiple daily tournaments under $150.
