No-Playing on a Comped Room?

Has anyone ever done this? Do they have the right to charge you after the fact? I have a comped room for two nights at T.I., but I want to play at Cosmo to get future offers from them. I am sick of T.I and want a change. I didn't book the comp through a host or anything like that.

 

I have done it at the T.I. and didn't get charged. Make sure they also waive the resort fee at check-in too.

 

Unless the offer specifically mentions a playing requirement, you have no obligation to do so. I've used several offers where I received match play chips, gift cards, etc. after playing a certain number of hours, but I was never required to play at all. There's no way I'd accept a deal if strings were attached. The last few times I took advantage of free room offers without playing was at places that either got torn down or I didn't want to return to anyway. Enjoy your free stay!

 

Generally it takes several trips of no playing and staying somewhere under a comp to reduce or not receive any more offers. I'm not sure how ti works though. I'm sure you will play some at your home resort though. If you are anything like me. Have fun.

 

For the CURRENT offer, you should be fine.

Had this happen once and just explained I did play and their system did not track it. Who can prove otherwise?

Also, since they never quoted you a "non play" rate, what rate can they charge you? They can attempt to use rack rate, but unless you AGREED to it upfront, you are cool.

Of course, they will not be offering you future offers.

AND - if you have another offer for a future date already booked, they can pull that back.

 

I've stayed at a CET casino, and not played at that particular casino. But I doubt that's what you are asking, since it all goes into the same system.

 

I did it once at Hooters years ago (it was an extra room for some friends). I was not charged

 

You won't get charged (unless it was booked through a host and there was an agreement that you need to play) but it will affect your future offers.

 

I'll be using a comped room offer soon for relatives who do not gamble much at all, and I'll be staying at Venetian, not enough bankroll to maintain my average at both, so know that my offers will suffer at TI, but I don't expect they will charge me for the room. I'm just trying to decide if low playing will be worse than no playing them this trip or just devoting one day to playing at TI and hope for the best.

 

Thanks for all the info and advice guys. I'm not really worried about future offers from TI because there are way better options out there for me. It makes since to give my play to a property that I want to receive future offers from.

 

I always give my play to properties that you have an interest in. As far as no play is concerned, I had this at Cosmopolitan, and no problem. Even got the same offer a few months later (I am assuming they had not updated their quarterly review of play). I was going to take them up on their offer again, however, can not guarantee any play again (sick last time, staying south strip this time - and don't feel like moving 1/2 way through trip).

 

Yes, I do it all the time. I don't owe anyone anything. And, in fact, they're offering me these rooms due to play and/or losses that have ALREADY occurred, so why should I pay them twice? I used a Bellagio room offer to put a friend up in April and I thought the no-play would kill that gravy train, but it had no effect and I'm actually getting more. At least with MGM I think the offers are more linked to your status category than your actual last trip performance. When I hit Gold status the good stuff really started rolling in.

But, anyway, back to the question . . . use it or lose it. I use my offers as much as I can for friends, business trips weekenders, whatever. I've already paid my dues. I owe them nothing.

 

I was charged $1250/night for a Cosmo penthouse this last weekend after staying on a comp and not playing. My host said they can do this but he is going to try and reverse it. What's the legality in this?

 

im sure there was a cluase in your offer thats says minium play required or usualy play required some legal stuff , most if not all say that but they usualy dont act on it

 

Well I told my host to reverse or I won't stay there again. I'm fine with future offers being lowered/revoked but charging me for a room where I didn't even know what the rate would be?

 

If you booked through a host, it could that the so-called "comp" is conditional.
If you did receive an offer on paper saying free penthouse, I guess you have a good chance to get the charge reversed.
If your offer says a regular room, but the host booked you a penthouse, then it could be "conditional".

 

It was not a mailed offer - host did it for me. I'm not going to fight it. Either they reverse it, or I won't stay there again. My host is a good guy (independant) and I don't want to get him in any trouble.

 

As paperposter said above, all offers come with some kind of "terms and conditions apply" even though most of the time they don't enforce it.
If you played a little, at least you can argue that you indeed played, and it's hard to say what the "same level of play" exactly means.
But if you did not play at all, 0, nothing, then you are at a disadvantage.

Then you are screwed. Either you or he is going to pay the fee. He probably earned lots of money from players, so can absorb it without a blink.

 

well why werent you up front with him that you were going to have a no play trip , he woudnt have put in a penthouse just a regular room and it probaly woudnt have been no big deal, i think having an outside host is also a problem as u dont have comps built up that they can apply towards this room.

honesty always work best.

i always tell them when im not playing im going to enjoy myself , but they figure they have you there u will play but either way i have enough old play to cover what ever im giving .better to be upfront

ps why did you no play on a ph comp

if u played a little atleast you could have said they forgot or mis traked the rest of my play
