The Wynn opened a new craps table in the high limit section this weekend. When I dropped by earlier minimum was 500$.

Probably not a coincidence but at 4am this Saturday morning, all the other craps tables at Wynn and Encore became 2x odds maximum!!!

It seems that it was a total surprise even for the staff who were very apologetic.

I of course expressed my discontent since I had been playing heavily since my arrival Thursday morning and this change happened without a warning in the middle of my yearly trip. I managed to get a half table reserved with regular odds.

I really hope this isn't going to take over Vegas like the 6:5 blackjack did. It would be so terrible.

    Holy shit...nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

2x odds?! This better not become the norm.

Seriously if this catches on then it kills the game for me.

I'm no expert, but isn't the idea to get people to put more money down on the felt, not less? (I realise the odds have a zero house edge, but even so...)

I assume they figure that people will just adjust their pass/don't so as to have the same amount of action, resulting in an overall higher HA.

I am not happy to hear this with a trip to Wynn coming up in less that two weeks. :grrr:

For those that don't vote with their feet and remain, lower odds likely lead to larger pass line bets, or even better for the house, more hardways/prop bets as people try to recreate the variance they used to have when taking max 3/4/5X odds.

If casinos could successfully get away with it, I'm sure they would love to get rid of pass/don't pass bets and odds completely.

Yeah man - I am with you. This is unsettling news.

Because if Wynncore is floating this out there and it isn't met with dissent from players then you know damn well the other two greedy corps in town will break their legs running to change the placards to read 2x odds.

I am no High Roller but I certainly will vote with my feet and complain loudly to whomever will listen. I will no play offers and when I check out I will sit my money on the counter and tell them they had no shot at this because of the bastardization of the craps odds.

I don't care if I have to pay for my rooms from there on out because I will simply stay at a place where they haven't tried to find another way to rip their customers

This, like 6:5 BJ, will be successful... and the reason is...95% of craps players play between 0-2x odds...for the rest, they play 345x or HIGHER (ie: 10x or 20x).

    No kidding.

I wonder whether it will. On the one hand, I think it's safe to say that less than half of players (at least that I've seen) take full odds anyway. So those folks might not feel that this is a big slight. But the thing that gives me hope is that, because craps is so intimidating for those who have never played, it tends to draw a more knowledgeable player who will know that 2X is not the norm and understand what that means for the HA.

    You are exactly right.
I often see players put down $50 on the line with no odds or maybe $25-$30 odds.
At Aria 4 weeks ago a guy was playing black on the line and $50 odds.

The only glimmer of hope is that the Wynn policy of not comping drinks at VP bars never spread to CET or MLife.
Let's hope this stays at WyynCore.

Yeah, I'm definitely not a big shot either. But I will certainly let my host know why V/P et al will get my craps dollars. And I'll comment to all my dealer and pit boss buddies as well.

I won't move any needles. But I suppose every little bit helps.
