It could be a Senior thing, but I can't feel anything about it, I'm just going because it's there and I need something to do, since for the first time in 20 years I won't be able to attend the Eagles/Redskins game that weekend.

I tried to book for August to see Heart at The House Of Blues on the 13th, but I just couldn't work up any enthusiasm or excitement for it.

    I don't know how I became such a sorry m-f'er.

Heart on the 13th? I might have to go in a day earlier than I thought ...

Dude, do something else if it's such a flat-liner downer. Go to NYC. Go tee it up in St. Augustine and tour the World Golf Hall of Fame. Go to the Carib. Go to Montreal and have 'em put mayonnaise on everything. Something.

I am not following this . Didn't you go though those money issues with your sister so that you thought you wouldn't be going---maybe ever. Now you are--( and I must have missed an installment of the saga)---and it isn't
    thrilling you???

Yeah, I actually just saw them at Solomon's, Md in May. They were fantastic! I thought it would be cool to see them in a small venue, but I can't work up any excitement for it, so I talked myself out of it.

I get the Vegas ennui. I get it from time to time. I put a Vegas trip on the books and then nuke it because, well, it's not firing my rocket. We go do something else we want to do.

Not sure what you are looking for here? Sympathy? If something's not making you happy, why piss money on it? Surely there is something out there you want to do, some use of your time and money that would be fun. That's the whole idea. Doing something discretionary you don't want to do, that leaves you flat or out and out just isn't what you want to do, is silly.

    Buck up, soldier.

Are you comfortable enough to tell us why after 20 years you won't be able to attend the Eagles/Redskins game that weekend?

Maybe this is the reason you can't feel the excitement of Vegas. You actually want to be at that game, which is understandable.

You could still watch it at a Sports Book while in Vegas. Have a beer or 10, meet some new friends, might not be the same thing but just trying to suggest making the best of the situation.

Sure, my friend and I have always found a kind 'Skins season ticket holder who would sell us the Eagles game, since we moved to Maryland in 1993.

This year, he is getting over chemo for liver cancer and his wife, knowing shit about football, booked that week for the Outer Banks.

It wouldn't be right to go without him. We are tight. Very much.

See, I don't know now. Maybe I would like to go in August. :bang:

No matter when I go, I have to cut back on gambling, even though I am not a High Roller to begin wit, because being on a pension, I can't go crazy. I am a good gambler, and I never go crazy anyway, so it's not that different, but I will have to cut back on my bankroll.

    You asked.

No promises, keep you in mind. I hope it's no larger than a $10 table.

    Sounds like fun.

should be a $10, they wanted at least ten players willing to at least buy-in for $500 each, to keep the table private

but we're way over that now, just swing by after 9pm

Sorry to hear about your buddy and what he's going through. Take your time on figuring out what to do.

Meanwhile there's a bunch of us here that are happy to lend an open ear whenever you feel you need to talk about things.

I agree with Ken, if you don't feel excited to be going is there another vacation that you'd look forward to? Perhaps once you start doing some planning your excitement level will ramp up? At any rate, happy to hear your situation has improved that you can travel if you choose to. I always enjoy seeing bands I like in the smaller Vegas venues.

Breeze: I know exactly what you mean. I'm going next month mainly because I can, while Ms. Gecko is pretty enthusiastic. It makes me wonder how gung-ho I'll be about planning our annual Halloween trip, let along mid-December. I REALLY need a change and am seriously thinking about going back somewhere in the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, it looks like we're just miss you, assuming you're starting out at Mirage. We'll be downtown Aug. 14 for 4 nights, but then move to Suncoast before heading to Orleans and GC.
