    My Trip Report

No Vegas this weekend. That will have to wait until the infamous July trip with pphold, firstkill, broncofn, plee and maybe nate hopefully.

This coming weekend will be a bucket list trip. Going to Pebble Beach. From Los Angeles it will be a 5 1/2 hour drive or so. May stop at Big Sur to see the sights. May also stop in Carmel and Monterey just because. Going with "readmine" who is new to the board also known as "S" to some of you.. Staying at "THE LODGE" at Pebble Beach in a nice upgraded 18th fairway room. Sunday morning playing either Poppy Hills, The Links at Spanish Bay or most likely both! Monday will be the famous Pebble Beach golf links and Tuesday will be Spyglass. May be able to get on Cypress Point as well which is one of the finest private country clubs in the Country. Being the DEGEN I am I found no less than 6 casinos within 30 miles or so of Pebble. Small quaint places with 5 or six tables and limits of 600 a hand. LOL.. So why not take 10k and invest in local casinos. No bac or craps there  only BJ and crappy 3 card poker. So, I am practicing my Hi Low count, High Low Opt II count and of course wong halves.. Should get kicked out in minutes betting 50 until it is in my favor where I go to 600 a hand.. Don't care and actually my goal is to get back roomed. LOL. They will just ask me to leave and that should be fun messing with these little places. I will be stopping by all of them. Hopefully.

I will be taking lots of food, golf, hotel, casino, driving, beach, sightseeing and of course CHIP porn for you all. That's it for now. Wish me good luck and safe travels as I always get hypnotized on the road and start to fall asleep :snore: . Hey broncofn, can I borrow the whoreshoe?

Sounds like a great trip. I had a chance to stay at Pebble a couple years ago. Played Pebble (of course) and Spyglass and Spanish bay. All great courses. Looking forward to all the updates.

I would recommend Graton in Napa Valley. Nice drive up and the casino is very nice and there is a golf course right next to it.

I was there last year. I want to go back.

Hey Packer, what an awesome trip. Have a blast!

Just so happens I am flying up to Monterey tomorrow, staying at The Lodge. Pebble on Thursday and Spyglass Friday. Won't experience the local casinos, but go right from Spyglass to the airport to get to Vegas for the weekend, so not all bad.

Hope you have a great time, and if possible, PLAY CYPRESS. If you haven't, it is a major bucket list item. One of the most enjoyable times I have ever had on the golf course.

Look forward to your awesome reports.

Oh man Way2fast, I will miss you by a couple days. You have a great trip as well! Yes, Cypress is the real bucket list course not Pebble. Well, maybe both.. Go get um in Las Vegas!

Most, if not all of these, are small card rooms (poker rooms)...most likely the size of Lake Elsinore "Casino". At these places, the "Bank" is a third party, so either you, or the Card Room, will be paying an "Ante" for every hand of BJ. I would consider PPhold's suggestion for Graton. Other than that, sounds like you have some great Golf and scenery to enjoy. Looking forward to pics and updates! Drive safe!

Seconded...skip them all Packer. If you're around Monterey...no casinos around there...and those "cardrooms" you don't want anything to do with.
If you're going a little south, maybe to Solvang or SLO...hit-up Chumash casino in Santa Ynez.

You and sin are right. But no ante there. Of course I will check it out first and then make the call if I will play. I will give a play by play. Yes I will hit up Chumash on the way back.

I've gone to Monterey and Carmel when I was younger. I remember they were both very nice but kind of colder since I had sweat shirts from both cities (do not remember the time of year)? We came from the LA area where my family is but we took a family trip and all drove in 3 cars.

I dont know about the casinos in that area but i agree with sin and tim, doesnt sound like a place to go and play. Just save the gambling until july and enjoy the golf and scenery!

The golfing part of your trip sounds awesome. I have played all those courses, but never all in the same trip. I will be interested in your assessment of the condition of each course...lots of tourist play during the past 2 months.

Those casino's are dumps in my opinion. Very local, very sketchy as my son would say. As Tim said, these are card rooms, not casinos. Since you posted the websites, I am sure you have looked at the great news at say OceanView such as "2 Blackjack Table on Friday Nights!" Wahoo! My last visit was 2 years ago, but at that time a player could "bank" any game. That is your best bet to not get tossed, or worse. You will also get more money in play as everyone will gather around and try and beat the out of town guy.

Enjoy the golf and fantastic restaurants/food. You will have a great time I am sure.

Might just miss you Packer. Flying my dad out (first class) to visit and surprising him with a trip down to pebble. We're checking in to the lodge on the 30th. Staying in San Fran the night before then driving down the coast. Playing pebble on the 1st of July and spanish bay on the 2nd. I'm also taking him up to Tahoe after so that's where our gambling will take place. I also have a tee time for the 4th at Edgewood Tahoe.

Still not sure how i'm going to go about telling him we're playing there. He's never been to CA before and isn't real familiar with the proximity of different places. Might just tell him we are going down to Big Sur then just pull into Pebble. He should figure it out then! Would love to get on cypress someday!

This trip sounds amazing! Can't wait to hear about it. I'm sure you've been to the area before, but in case you haven't, personally I think it's such a relaxing, wonderfully natural area that gambling doesn't fit the vibe at all. So I, too, would recommend skipping the casinos. On our last trip to Carmel we discovered Point Lobos Natural Reserve, which is full of amazing trails and vistas. Highly recommended. Have fun!

Thank you. Yes it is about the excursion to No Cal.. Last time I was in the area was 20 years ago. Never golfed there but know the area. I partnered a restaurant in Santa Cruz (Madisons) around 1990 so traveled pass there many times. Truthfully the gaming is WAYYYY down the list but this is VMB and I am a true DEGEN so have to bring it up and maybe stop by. I NEVER go to casinos near me like Hollywood park, Commerce Bike and so on. So, the card houses aren't a priority. Any local Restaurants I should try? Or just eat at Lodge and surrounding area?
