    My Trip Report

Ol Gil is back with another TR, We stayed at TI, first time for all of us in the (mildly) pirate themed establishment, This one was for my friend B, the titular character. Enjoy,

    bachelor party weekend

As a mild preface, this TR wont be as long or detailed as my previous ones (i still haven;t finished the final installment on my trip from last august). In part because it was only a 4 night trip, as opposed to my usual 6 or 7 day excursions. Also, there wasn't a ton of strip or off strip exploration. It was mostly isolated to TI and mid strip area. However in the days we lacked, we made up for in a whole lot of partying.

I've never had a weekend more full of laughs than this one. I became better friends with the four other guys who made up this sometimes well dressed shit show. Our wolfpack of 5.

Quick rundown of the characters. All about 27 years old. All stand up guys and great people to be friends with.

Myself- 6th overall trip, SO at home this time (together over 3 years), have been on solo trips, ones with friends, and two with SO. Will do my best to stay out of trouble,

B- The bachelor. Great guy who loves to drink, a LOT. Getting married in a couple weeks, 8th time in Vegas. all previous were with his GF (now fiance) of over 10 years.

M- Another one who's been with his GF (i think now Fiance') over 10 years. Hasn't set a date yet, so maybe the next trip will be for him. Musician and someone who can appreciate different kinds of art, as well as food. 2nd trip

D- The party animal. The only truly single one in the group, Not afraid to exercise being a loudmouth with zero filter when drunk. Lost a lot of weight recently and had trouble finding his alcohol limit. Not afraid to talk to women, but is an absolute non closer. Decent starter or middle relief, but that's it. 2nd time in LV.

N- Good dude who seems to have shitty luck sometimes, Next to me, the most responsible person in the group. Technically single but has his eye on someone back home. Numerous times in LV,

C- B's cousin who lives in henderson. Good dude, Helped out with rides and advice. Came to a couple of dinners.

N and M were flying out the next day. It was me, B and D the first night. After a couple of drinks in the united lounge thanks to B's card, we got on the plane and waited 30-40 minutes extra to take off from our scheduled time of 5 pm. May have been a bomb threat at EWR. Still unsure of what happened. Not a very enjoyable flight. No TVs in the seats (must have been an older united plane, not one merged from continental), crappy faux leather seats. tried to sleep a few minutes and couldn't. My ass was hurtin each time i stood up. We played some cards on the plane, and had a few drinks. Talked and joked a lot.

Landed in Vegas around 730 local time. Got our bags and went to find C to pick us up. A pleasant surprise as i saw Oscar from presidential Limo passing by us in the baggage claim area, He drove me and my gf last year from the airport. Real nice guy, He actually remembered a little about me. He told us the best place for passenger pick up was the new parking deck they built.

So we get picked up by C and check into TI. surprisingly very little traffic for the thursday night before MDW, C was saying that the weather being so nice in Cali wouldn't make the SoCal crowd want to come to vegas this part of the season. the weather was amazing in Lv the whole trip as it turned out. Not too hot and perfect for any kind of clothing. It was perfect weather if i ever experienced any.

Got checked in, 15th floor, strip and pool view. Also adjoining room for N and M to ours was soft blocked for the next day so we could all drink and plot together haha.

We had reservations for Cut at the palazzo at 915, but i called and said 945 was more likely. No problem they said. C joined us and was so happy to be eating steak, as he doesn't too much any more with his wife. B and C got the american waygu, D got a filet, and I got a ribeye. Excellent steak. One of the best i've had. Very tasty and the sauces on the side complemented it perfectly. Tried the pork belly appetizer, bone marrow flan, along with creamed spinach with egg as a side. Everything was top notch except the mini desserts. I stuck to water as a drink. bill came to about 400, which for 4 people at an upper tier SH is not bad. I tried the waygu in exchange for a piece of my ribeye, and while tender with a texture like i never experienced from a steak, it didn't have a ton of flavor. I would definitely come back here.

C dropped us off at MGM because D got us tickets for steve aoki at Hakkassan, B and I don't care for clubs, but B is big on trying to make everyone happy. The place itself is cool, and the music wasn't bad, but damn i could not take more than 20 minutes in there with the masses of people and constant stream of cig smoke EVERYWHERE. I left and hung out at the centrifuge bar and made a friend from boston for about 45 minutes, B came out after an hour and told me he was gonna find a table. I found him staring at a HOT craps table. Couldn't even get in. it was 2 deep i think. D found us eventually and said Aoki wasn't coming on until 2 or 3am, No time or patience for that shit, We got in a cab and i covered it back to TI. B lost 100 on craps after about 20 minutes on a table. I picked up some water jugs from the CVS at TI and we went to the room. D lost 5 bucks on a slot machine, He never played anything the rest of the weekend.

Went to sleep around 330 or so. Needed some rest after being up for 24 hours with the time change. Pretty jam packed first night for only being there 8 hours. :faint:

Thanks Rocky. Will have it up soon periodically. Unfortunately not as much craps action as usual. Gambling overall was fairly limited for me but it does happen. Should be another interesting nfl season. Was thinking about putting money on the Giants but then the starting left tackle goes down til November with an injury while weight lifting. Just enough doubt about them for them to make a run this year haha.

Yeah man I can't wait for the season to start!

I think Dallas got a bit too big for their britches in thinking their OL is able to allow anyone to gain yards behind them. And my boy Chip putting his faith in Sam effing Bradford worries me.

The East could be wide open. Well...except for Washington because they'll win nada while $nyder owns the team.

Day 2 Cabana pool party, the show begins 5/22

Somewhere around 8am the shit show was set to begin, B had a cabana rental reservation for the day. While D was still sleeping, I decided to take B to Bouchon at the Venetian. Wonderful breakfast. I got the bacon chive waffles with roasted chicken, The bacon gravy was awesome. Side sausage was very good too. All around good meal of things i couldn't get anywhere else. M and N landed around 9am and we awaited their arrival by the pool at TI. D just had a couple of granola bars and was already waiting for us the begin at the cabana.

We got the rundown of how the cabana rental works by the two attendants and started off with some large drinks. I got the tropical version of the LIT, and finished the 2 ft tall beverage much faster than i thought i would. D and B were sticking mostly to screwdrivers. We started talking to these young ladies from iowa for a while, and I saw M and N walk to the pool area. I greeted them and the party continued. Somewhere around 1pm B got a call from C's wife about going to Drai's pool party. He took D and N with him, while M and myself decided to stay put. I wasn't trekking down the strip at this point. While the 3 of them were down at Drai's, M and I were dominating at beer pong and these young ladies from dallas were endearing themselves to us for the beer and cigs that M was practically giving away.

I lost count of how many buckets of beer we ordered. M just kept ordering when we ran out.
the scrupulous young women didn't seem to mind that we kept ordering on our tab. Although not my type, had M and I been single, i'm sure some things would have happened. We played flip cup with other pool goers and had a 3 table tournament at one point.

In one of those "only in vegas" moments, D was drunk out of his mind as they walked back towards TI around 330 or so, and the video footage would probably get him fired if his employer were to see it. He somehow adopted a southern plantation owner accent, and we just kept laughing. He fell off his lounge chair and into a plant and lay there for several minutes. After getting our bill for the day, close to $1,000 with tip, D flipped out and literally flipped over the beer pong table outside our cabana. We kept on laughing. The one attendant had commended me on how composed i was in holding the whole situation together, despite how much i drank.

N had lost his phone by going in the pool at Drai's. it was fried. He tried to rescue it as his feet hit the water, but to no avail. He was pretty upset the rest of the day.

We somehow gathered ourselves in our adjoining rooms. D was throwing up and walking around naked, wasted and out of his mind. The rest of us were trying to shower and get dressed for dinner at Joe's Stone crab at Caesars, seeing the 10pm Absinthe show afterwards. We propped up D so he wouldn't choke on his own vomit. he wasn't making it to dinner. We walked to caesars, nicely dressed and ready for a good time. After getting calamari at the bar and drinking water, we went to the main dining room and stared at our menus. We ordered the stone crab appetizer to share. it was pretty good along with the sauce on the side they served it with.

I ended up getting the shaved ribeye sandwich with asparagus instead of fries. It was very good., but the asparagus was pretty pedestrian. Everyone else basically got a surf and turf. As recommended by many, i got the banana cream pie for dessert. Because i was so full, i got a half order. it was delicious.

We slow walked over the absinthe tent area and had some time to kill. N was so frustrated with his phone situation he ended up going back to the room to see if the rice in a bag thing worked. We implored D to make the show. I took a picture for a group of 5 middle aged women and one of them wanted to kiss me and touch my ass. She was a bit tipsy. I have someone back home, not gonna do it, at least not tonight haha.

We left D's ticket with the ticket person at the front of the tent. He somehow made it to the show literally right before it started. It took him throwing up outside a cab window, but he rallied and made it. all of 20 minutes. He went to the bathroom and never made it back to his seat. he said he watched from the back for a while but had to get back to the room. It was just B, M and myself that were left standing by midnight. We made our way back to TI. After 24 hours plus i finally decided to hit the tables. I sat down at a blackjack table for $10 a hand and played for a good half hour. broke even after some ups and downs.

I was done for the night. it was somewhere around 2am and i was ready to pass out. D was sound asleep nursing off a hangover. We all followed suit.

    Day 3 5/23 A tremendous rebound

With 2/5ths of our wolfpack out of commission from the night before, and M going his own way for breakfast, i told B we should head to Paris for Mon Ami. We trekked down the strip and got bar seats when we arrived, They had a special rosemary chicken and caramelized onion eggs benedict. I was sold. Got it with a side of country sausage. Awesome breakfast.

We played some casino war before leaving paris. Once i was up about $50 i called it a session and cashed it. We checked out each casino on the east side of the strip going towards TI, seeing if there were any open $5 craps tables. Casino Royale had just that. We played for a while, there were a couple of hot shooters that i unfortunately realized well after i put down more than the basic pass line with odds bet. I did make a green chip when the one guy rolled a 12 and i made a $2 high low bet.

Once the dice finally came to me, i played inside and a few more bets. 4, ok no problem, lets hit everything. I was feeling confident. 7 out. I only ended up losing $11 on that table, but for all that the hot shooters were hitting, i should have been up a couple hundred. still up $40 for the trip.

We made our way back to TI where the rest of our group had gotten lounge chairs and drinks.
We had a fun time in and around the pool, i took a short nap in the room. I then decided to try the cafe/vietnamese place in TI. I got the egg rolls which were fantastic, and the pho soup. Soup was pretty good, spicy and filling. Good meal. I slowly walked out of there to a blackjack table, were i played until a reshuffle. Made $15 and said screw it, i payed for half a lunch, i'm good. despite the pleas from the dealer to play some more. Went back out to the pool for a little while, then to the room to get ready for the night.

We all got as dressed up as our vacation wardrobes allowed, i had a nice black suit with a coral red/orange dress shirt. We made our way to Caesars. I had booked NOBU a few weeks prior and M was excited about going. D isn't big on any kind of asian food, but thankfully he didn't get too wasted this time and made it out. C met up with us there, and we had a table for 6. There are no menus brought to the table at Nobu, they serve based on preferences and budget more or less. In short, it was an outstanding meal. The butter miso cod fish was one of the best things i've ever tasted, along with a few other unique dishes. D was poking fun at the pretentiousness of it all, but he still enjoyed it. With tax and tip it came to $200 per person. Only 2 drinks were ordered, so that kept it reasonable. $1200, not bad for 6 people at Nobu.

We had tickets for snoop dogg's appearance at Tao, so we made our way to the venetian. I lasted only 10 minutes in there, and snoop wasn't showing face until 1am at the earliest. it was around 1045. I moseyed my way around the casino for a while before settling in on a $25 baccarat table. I dropped my $100 buy in in a few hands, put another $100 in and was down to $25 left of that. I made a comeback and broke even for the table. Glad i stuck this one out instead of cutting my loss. I played some bartop BJ, got a drink, and after a few minutes cashed out with a couple dollars in profit. The ticket machine took it and it never registered. I was able to get a manager, but it took a repairman and 15 minutes to do so. They fully refunded me the 22 dollars from a different machine. Good job venetian casino management. That is how you keep people happy and not badmouthing you.

It was around 1130 and we had plans to hit the Spearmint Rhino. B had never been to a strip club before. We got limo service for midnight, and free admission with it. The place is huge. So many people there. It was pretty packed. Then again it was a saturday on MDW. B got a few dances we chipped in for. It funny how nervous he was about it, but calmed down after the first dance. D got a $100 VIP room thing, but when his 15 minutes was almost up, they kicked him out because he didn't order anything from the 2 drink minimum (which is another 40). To be fair, they didn't tell him about it either, which is why he got almost the whole time allotted. I turned down every dancer that came up to me. I didn't want to feel the frustration of such a tease. Been there done that. Not that my gf would have cared had i got a few dances, but it's a waste of money for me.

Cabbed it back to TI where D was unsuccessfully trying to win the affection of young lady from NY he had been talking to since we were in the pool earlier. I got asked by a few people if i worked there or knew where senor frogs entrance was. New Rule: No more black suits except for funerals, wakes, or something professional. We were drinking and hanging out in the casino for a while. At some point around 230, i went to bed and D was right there with me. For kicks, he started calling numbers from porn slapper cards and off of a certain website. Nothing affordable for him at the moment. TI was one of the least hooker laden hotels i've ever seen in vegas. I guess they like families there, hence the elevator entrance security staff. Off to sleep.

Epic would appropriately apply, even if it is an overused word these days to describe a decent time. I didn't even mention all the drinking we did in the room. There's some details i left out. Some on purpose. Others i may not rememeber,

You wouldn't need the security footage, we have several minutes of him from various phones. however, i don't think it's something i should post online in any way. It is, without a doubt, hysterical, He was trying to high five a random person as he was yelling "YEA BUDDY" and either completely missed, or knocked out a 10 year old. We can't tell from that footage.

Day 4 5/24 The last full day Tests of morality

The day started like the others, except D had bought tickets for tao beach (fabolous was slated to be there, not that i care) for B and myself. None of us felt like going and just ate the tickets. Next time we'll buy if we feel like it during the trip. None of us seem to like clubs except D. Even he had enough by sunday. I'm past that point in my life, not that i ever cared for clubs to begin with.

Everyone but me got breakfast at the cafe at TI, then got some day beds at the pool. I again walked to Paris for some Mon Ami. I got the Seafood crepe and regular eggs benedict along with the side sausage. Was not as good or as hot as the day before but was still very good. I was full and took in the sites and sounds of the sunday brunch time strip. Walked back to TI. Settled in at the pool and had a pina colada kind of drink. Talked to some newly made friends from the last two days who seemed to also enjoy the pool the same time we did. D was still talking to the young lady from NY and her friend who was flying out in the afternoon. He hadn't given up and she was invited to dinner. She was cool, no problem with it.

B and M were talking up some ladies from chicago who were in town for only 24 hours for a concert. Both are in 10 year plus relationships, and pretty solid guys. I wasn't worried. The ladies wanted to meet up later.

I played craps for a few minutes at TI and won 22 bucks. Had enough after a 7 out after my first point. up $80 for the trip. Woohoo. Best i've ever done this many days in. No need to sit at the tables too long if i don't feel like it. It was mostly a hit and run trip.

We planned on Buddy V's for dinner. although not cheap, it was nowhere in the same Stratosphere as places like Cut and Nobu. Our wallets could use the help. We walked over towards the Venetian with our NY friend and had a table for 6 in about 15 minutes.
B and D got a 2 for 1 deal on "orgasim clinic" t shirts. Spelled incorrectly and all. The porn slappers were selling them near the escalator between TI and Veneitian. The shirt became quite a conversation piece.
B continued his tradition of drinking all the time and ordered a belvidere and tonic, after he already had a two footer of something from fat tuesday across the hallway. We split some appetizers which were all pretty good. I got the sunday gravy which was very good, and a couple guys got the veal parm on the bone. I tried a piece after trading some of mine, and i think that's what i'll get next time. It was delicious. Bill was 50-60 a person. Not bad at all.

We walked around the venetian and surrounding area a little while and decided to take a rest in the room. it was around 945 pm. All of us were sprawled across the beds and floor of our adjoining rooms. We were just about down for the count. M had encouraged us all to rally and make a last stand for the night. B was snoring on the bed and for about 15 minutes it was looking like the end of the party. Somehow we all got the energy after brief power naps and decided to make the most of the last 16 hours we had until our flight.

it was almost 11pm. D and myself were sent to Gilleys to talk to the gals from chicago. B and M were on the way. They were the main attraction tonight. Another obnoxiously loud annoying place i did not enjoy. We talked to the ladies for a few minutes but i'm pretty sure my lack of enthusiasm showed. Just as i'd had enough of the noise from the long winded alpha male country themed host, i saw B and M walk in. I exited graciously and walked around the casino for a little while. I was full from dinner and just taking in the last night. I talked to a few people here and there but mostly was trying to stay awake, for what i don't know.

I went to the room and lay down. i fell asleep for a short while but awoke and browsed the internet on my phone until i heard the door open. It was B and M. They had faces filled with disappointment, but at the same time dignity and stoicism. The ladies apparently wanted them both pretty bad, but one being the bachelor getting married in two weeks, the other also in a 10 year relationship and engaged, made it not worth it in the long run. There was some dancing but i gotta give it to both of them for having a heart to heart before they left the bar. Despite being 20 somethings in vegas where their friends would have helped them in any way they wanted, they did the right thing. With possibly the best line of the trip from M - "man, doing the right thing fucking sucks". And the gem "i feel like the kid on christmas who didn't quuiiiiittteeee get everything he wanted". We all shared laughs for a long time for about 45 minutes until roughly 230 am. Downed some water and to bed we went in preparation for the flight back to reality the next day,

Time and a place for everything. Thank you for the compliment though. Someone had to be semi responsible for holding things together.
Appreciate the replies everyone. Glad you enjoyed it. Here's the last part:

Leaving day 5/25 capping off an epic trip

To make it short, we finished a couple of our bottles of liquor in the room before embarking to our soon-to-be decided final meal for the trip. I had a couple vodka sodas on an empty stomach, felt a pretty nice buzz for 11am.

We agreed on the Caesars buffet. I used to do a lot of buffets, but the last few trips has been typically just one. None of us had it yet and it would also be filling enough to not be hungry on the way home. We checked our bags at TI's bell desk and walked over to the magic kingdom of this adult disney world. Line wasn't too bad, Came to about 60 a person with tax. They had some extra holiday weekend items like hot crab and lobster. I stuffed myself pretty good, Made sure i tried a little of everything. Breakfast and asian fare were particularly good and memorable. Crepe and gelatto's were awesome desserts. Also got plenty of mimosas. We were all pretty damn full,

Walked to mirage and took the tram to TI. I wanted to to some last minute gambling, thinking i could hit a couple big wins to leave on rather than just be up a measly 80 bucks for the trip.
Not the best idea, but i've had worse.

Went to play some roulette. $100 in singles. In 5 rolls not one of my numbers came out. Well only down 20 now. Not done. Went to the Baccarat table in the HL room right near the roulette table i was just at. $100. 4 green chips. My friends are texting me they want to leave now. No more than 6 hands, never got up money in the session. Lost my $100. Figured it was as bad a time as any to start chasing losses. Down $120 for the trip. Not bad overall for 4 days. Not good since i was in the positive just 20 minutes prior. But it still pales in comparison to food and drink costs for the trip any way you slice it.

Met the wolfpack near the cab stand. We got a minivan to take us to the airport. He insisted on the freeway for part of the ride despite my suggestion of strip to tropicana. Came to around 22 bucks. Not a total long haul. Had a drink while waiting for the flight. charged my phone as well.

I don't care for United's business model of charging for everything that isn't a soft drink. Couldn't change the channel without paying. I just turned it off. Before take off a young lady tapped me on the shoulder and asked if i was single. Her friend wanted to know, said i was cute. Told her "no, i'm taken" but i would still be friendly and chatted with her a couple minutes when we got in the air. She was pretty attractive herself. Oh well.

Not the best flight home, but i was comforted by the feelings and memories of an awesome trip. We packed enough partying into it that i was satisfied enough for only a 4 night stay. Will always be fond of this one.

    Quick notes and observations

Linq and surrounding area has come along nicely.
Finally figured out the easy formula for how clubs make so much money- charge people nominal fee to get in early, make them drink to feel like they're having a good time, wait to bring on headliner for undetermined amount of hours. Clubs still are not for me,
Missed out on getting ping pang pong for the second trip in a row, Otherworldly potstickers. B and I swore to get there at some point. Next time hopefully. Nobu wasn't a bad consolation however. Egg rolls at the vietnamese place in TI were great also.
Not a lot of escort talent at TI.
TI casino is pretty slow except for friday and sat nights. besides that it was almost a ghosttown.
Once we settled in, we never made it south of paris or north of the Venetian/Palazzo.
Again, i've never laughed so much in one weekend as i did on this one.

They truly are good friends. No other group of guys I would rather have had this trip with. One final note- the wedding was great and D made an amazing best man's speech.
