I am going with some friends to Chicago and we want to go the Horseshoe Hammond. Does anyone know if they comp rooms at the hotels. I was told I could get 1 night comped at a partner hotel and I am a seven star player. Also how close is this to Chicago? Are drinks free in the diamond or seven star lounges? If they are not...are they reasonable priced?

Contact a host there and they can setup a hotel for you. This is the first exit inside Indiana so you are about 30 minutes from the city.

Yeah, that's the problem with this casino. Not sure how familiar you are with the area, but it's not real good. I definitely would not stay in any of the cheap motels nearest the casino. There are some nicer ones 10-20 minutes away.

If your going to have a car, it's really no problem. My advice is stay in Chicago at a nice hotel. The casino is a 20-30 minute easy drive tops (depending on time of day and traffic). They also have busses/shuttles that do travel from I believe it's the Hyatt (You can find more information online).

Very nice casino and if you are a diamond, it has one of the nicer diamond lounges with a view of lake michigan.

I don't recall which hotel they comp, it's probably the Ramada. Every hotel I've noticed within a mile or two looks as if they are frequented primarily by truckers who are probably hitting up the casino or nearby strip club in their downtime. The best nearby hotel is actually at Ameristar, which is probably 15 minutes away and something they couldn't comp.

As for the DL, I've never been in that one. But they can't comp alcohol in Indiana. The drinks in there will probably be cheaper than the casino, though. The steakhouse is worth a visit as well.

The casino is quite nice and very large. Smoking is allowed and prevalent. The Seven Stars lounge comps drinks from 7-10pm on Friday and Saturday. Outside those times it is against state law to comp drinks, but apparently during those times it isn't. Drink prices in the lounges are low in any case. Without traffic you can get to downtown Chicago in 20 minutes.

Do NOT accept a "partner hotel" unless it is in downtown Chicago. The area near the Horseshoe is blighted--think steel mills and abandoned buildings. The most generous way you could describe it would be to say "nothing of tourist interest."

If they are willing to put you up in the Hyatt Regency Chicago--one of the partner hotels--make sure it is the one on Wacker Drive, not the one near Mc Cormick place. The McCormick place location is very out of the way unless you are attending an event at McCormick place. Also ask if they will pick you up in a town car (which they call a limo.). If they won't, there is a shuttle which runs reliably frequently from the Hyatt downtown. It is free.

I always stay in downtown Chicago and take the free shuttles to the casino.

They have shuttles that go all over Chicago. Their website has all the locations.

In my experience they are always on time and not too crowded.

This is my favorite casino in the Chicago area. Huge casino with an excellent selection of machines. No hotel and the area is very iffy. Free shuttles on a regular schedule from various locations in Chicago.

How is the craps action at this casino. How is the saturday day action and the friday night action. Is there plenty of tables going at 10.00 min. I dont mind the tables being almost full but im not a huge fan of being completely packed in and a casino that only opends 1-3 tables and all packed that way. Trying to decide between driving to hammond, joliet, or windsor. All about the same drive time from my house. I want to spend just a night there to make diamond before my next vegas trip. Only 5000 points away so getting there after work friday night and playing for 4-6 hours saturday should do it.

Ended up trying the horseshoe at hammond for a day. The casino is fine, the dealers were good, but the craps tables were packed and the smoking is pretty thick in there. 4 craps tables going during the day and all 4 had 9-10 players at almost all times. I ended up about 250.00 for the day. I put in 4 hours at craps at the same table never moving and 1 hour at bj betting 25-50 per hand.
My huge dissappointment from this casino is my rating. I only earned 350 tier credits. The style I play at craps gets me about 1000 tier credits a day playing for 4 hours at any other casino I have played at. I was kind of afraid of this when I was there because the tables were so packed and the pit boss would only look at a persons card when they came to the table, enter them and never look at one bet they made. And the only time he ever went to the computer was on a new buy in or when they colored up. At least I ended up ahead but I will not be making a trip back to this casino. It is almost the same distance of a drive as widsor, cincinatti, cleveland and joliet if I want a casino that is a CET in driving distance.
