Last year, I had a nice, easy time getting a Jubilee Luxury room comped at Bally's, and my flight cost hardly any points on SWA. This was the weekend of December 18-21. So I figured, it's setting me back nothing but resort fees and Early Bird, so what the hell. I gave one of my buddies a shout, and he flew from Minneapolis and met me down there.

Now, Vegas isn't as crowded that weekend as it is when you're truly in the middle of the season. It's also less crowded than it would be over NYE. In the end, I kinda liked it. This was my 23rd trip to Vegas, and most of those were in the heart of "Vegas Season" (as they're saying on the ads these days). I enjoyed easy access to restaurants that might otherwise be more crowded, the Fremont East bars weren't as packed, and any game I wanted to play was readily at my disposal. The weather was fine; maybe 65 and a little cooler at night, but I hardly had to bundle up.

I wouldn't say I'm giving up on summer trips, but I'm hardly opposed to the same weekend again this year. And sure enough, comped Jubilee room. I'm sure I'll have plenty of points once SWA opens up their schedule this Thursday. So hey...why not?

What's your opinion? Do you want to be there for Memorial Day, 4th of July, etc.? The most crowded weekends? Or the least crowded? Or...whenever you damn well feel like going to Vegas?

I like it less crowded. I made a big mistake booking to be there Memorial Day weekend as I'm from Canada and thought our may long weekend and Memorial Day weekend were the same but I was wrong. I guess it's just 3-4 days of chaos then it should settle down. I like lower table limits and to be able to sit with a few of my friends and that's not always an option on busy weekends.

When Las Vegas is busy it does give a good vibe to it. More people = more energy. Having said that, more people also means it's harder to get into good restaurants. And, decent show seating disappears pretty fast. But, all in all, I'm fine with trips with varying crowd levels.

I have been to Vegas a few times in December or other winter months but I don't enjoy it nearly as much as during warm weather. Now my Vegas trips are Sunday to Friday when it is less crowded than during the weekend and that's what I prefer.

I love it when it's blazing hot and less crowded in July. Rooms are less, tables are less crowded and dining is more accessible. Weekends always seem to be busy, and I like the vibe for a couple of days, but I set my trips up so I'm not there during big conventions or holiday weekends.

    I like both.

SB weekend is a madhouse but I enjoy the energy. I hate that the craps tables are hard to get on though.

I try to book a trip with me coming in on a Wednesday or Thursday and staying until Tuesday so I can have some peaceful Vegas time bookended by the high energy weekend.

I like it crowded. I like the energy. The buzz.

I humbly admit that my comps and host treatment help overcome the above mentioned downsides of busy weekends.

I prefer the energy of a busier trip. I've spent MDW 11' and 4th of July last yr in vegas and didn't mind the crowds. I personally have not had any issues booking resturants. As iI have dined at Gallghers, Sushi and Samba, and Rice and Comopany during those trips. The wait time was loner at Samba but thats to be expected during holiday weekends. When I did play the tables (Blackjack $25 and up).... I did get frustrated with some of the inexperieced players making foolish hits. For the most part I do enjoy those "peak" weekends

I usually do Vegas in the summer months. I enjoy the crowds. Everyone is on vacation and in a great mood. Good vibes, good people fun times. I couldn't imagine having the doors open from the airport and having it be cold or cool air hit me. When those doors open and I step out into the heat...that's when I know Im BACK!! I have heat here...but Vegas heat is very different than what Im use to.

We almost always do something like arrive on a Wednesday and then go home the following Monday or Tuesday... that way we get a slower pace when we get there to relax and unwind, then the hustle and bustle of a weekend in the middle of the trip and then a couple of quiet days to get over it and unwind again.

Nine of my ten trips have been Sunday to Thursday. I'm from a small town in the middle of a forest with little "energy" or "vibe" (and that's okay--I love it). So "slow" Vegas is plenty lively for me...

And I agree with Mike O'Meara and Starz--I actually like going in the blazing-hot summer, for all the reasons they give.

I like it less crowded. Less waiting in line, etc. I was actually booked to be there this past week, but then they scheduled the fight so we changed our plans. I am especially glad now, especially since my trip would be over, and now it's still something to look forward to, 3 weeks from today :)

I like it busy because the energy of the town is so much better.

But not so busy that I can't get my usual.

I prefer to go during the week when less busy. I like playing on tables solo so during a busy weekend this can prove to be more of a challenge. Flying out of Mccarran on a Wednesday or Thursday is cake compared to flying out on a busy Sunday.

I don't like it too busy as I hate dealing with crowds. But I don't want it to be dead either. But vegas rarely has the latter problem. So our default Wednesday to Tuesday trips with a weekend car option to escape the strip and visit downtown/off strip has worked pretty well for me. Also since we aren't comped, we're often looking for lower room rates, which typically leads to less busy times, so works well for me!

And OP talked up the December weather a bit here. That had to be warmer that average right? Both times i went in early December evenings were usually in the 40s. Hell a few evenings I wished I had long sleeves on this last April trip! :(

The evenings were certainly cooler, but I just wore jeans, a button down, and like a wool/cashmere sweater. I wasn't cold, so fine by me.

Like others have said, I like it both ways. I like it slow for walking the strip, dinner reservations and show tickets. I like it busy for gambling. I hate playing at a casino that is dead with no energy or vibe.

I like it slower and weather is a decent trade off considering you aren't hassling with snow and getting cheaper hotel and airfare. What some people perceive as energy in a casino I tend to perceive as just too many bodies. I like gambling during the day or late at night so I am not competing with as many people for the game I want to play. I also like no lines and getting a table at a restaurant right away with no wait for most of the day.

As for December, I can't tell if it was a warmer one than normal or not. I think I've been three times in December now and have never had the same weather. Last year, it was suitable for both sandals and sweaters simultaneously.

I've been there during many of the holidays, memorial day, 4th of July, Labor day, super bowl, etc. I usually go to the CES every 2 or 3 years. Since I gamble mostly downtown I don't experience the big crowds that I see and hear about but I do experience more people during those busy times. I try to avoid those times as much as possible. I also try to avoid the summer months, I won't go during June, July and August (well, maybe I might visit at the end of August) because I can't stand the heat. I would rather go during the cold winter than the hot summer.

I usually like to stay during the week days, Sunday through Thursday if possible. I think the major thing is cost, usually prices for hotel and car rentals are good on those days but higher on the weekends and holidays and special events and conventions. I'm not a big gambler so I never get any comped rooms.

I'm not into big crowds so I avoid them as much as possible. I rather play on tables with a few players than a crowded table but then hopefully the table is crowded because it is a hot table.
