I was wondering where y'all think the best burger downtown is. I've had a few steaks, and know where to get pizza, but don't know about a good burger.

    So, what do you think?

Binion's was good. Simple, tasty, and discounted with a ACG coupon.

For the price El Cortez was great 1/2 lp with a beer, and only five bucks. But Binions was good also.

Binions has a pretty good burger. Not a burger but highly recommend hitting up the deli towards the back for hot pastrami, corned beef or brisket. It's good, you can also get the pastrami at the cafe when the deli closes.

Also just in general I recommend the deli. It's much less packed and you can get the burger there. Also last couple of times the guy working the counter had been at Binions forever, most of the time bringing room service on the hotel side when it was open. He can stories about Stu Ungar, Amarillo Slim, Doyle and others from the heydays.

I also think the Burger Special @ El Cortez is very good. I believe it's served with chips and a beer, or soda if you prefer.

It wasn't necessarily cheap, but the one at the commissary at downtown grand was pretty good. It's been a few years since I've had it, but 777 had a good burger also.

I usually avoid even clicking on threads containing the word "best." Nonetheless, Ms. Gecko and I have had the 777'S Western BBQ Bacon Cheese Burger on a couple occasions and have no motivation to try somewhere else. We really enjoy it, and splitting one between us is plenty.

The Hennessey makes a decent burger, and its bogo on Tuesday if I remember correctly. Pizza rock actually makes a good burger and will cook it to order (rare/med/done etc).

Triple George serves a really good burger. The burger at Dupar's is also a great choice. Anything at these two places will impress most.

Bingo. I also agree that the bar at the back of Binions is also very good for burgers.

The $4.95 Binion's burger might be best value (especially with the ACG coupon) but it surely can't be the best tasting burger downtown.

If you want to spend 15 bucks then Pizza Rock's burgers are made with American kobe beef and a lot of other good stuff. I had the calabrese burger in March and it was spicy and awesome. I've got a buddy that enjoyed his burrata burger there as well. If I ask for rare and they have no issue serving it to me that way then you know they're confident in their beef. The fries were also pretty good but I'm going to try the house purple potato chips next time.

    BURRATA BURGER* 15
American Kobe Beef, Burrata Cheese, Crispy Bacon, Caramelized Onions, Arugula, Balsamic Reduction
    GORGONZOLA BURGER* 15
American Kobe Beef, Gorgonzola Cheese, Pesto** Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato
    CALABRESE BURGER* 15
American Kobe Beef with Spicy BBQ Sauce, Cheddar, Bacon, Fried Onions, Calabrese Peppers (Spicy)

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I'll have to try at least 1 or 2 this next trip.

And, getting anything other than pancakes or the cocktail at Dupar's just seams wrong. ;)
