How's The Mirage these days?

I'm going to be taking a trip this summer with a few family members who are a bit more "old school" than myself. They will also be on somewhat of a budget. I'm usually comped at Aria, but I feel like Mirage might be a better fit for this crowd. A few questions: Are the rooms dated? Can my Aria host book me there? How can I get the best rate for my family members who will be paying? Any rooms to avoid? Any other info is helpful.

Mirage is one of my favorites when I take my family. My kids are young, so the light walking around the property is a big plus. The pool is also pretty underrated. We love the cabanas there...very spacious and excellent drink service! The property has always done well with just the right amount of renovations...nice and clean, but nothing over the top. For a family, it is a perfect mlife property. You will see people with tons of money, people on tight budgets, and everything in between. Very laid back atmosphere! They are in the midst of a major renovation on the casino floor, but I do not know when it is expected to be completed. I would contact a Host at Mirage to see what they can do for you, with regards to rooms.

 

That's what I'm afraid of. But some of the people going are accustomed to Fitzgerald's and Four Queens. I don't want to overwhelm them.

 

Wow, really? I stayed there three straight times before switching over to CET. I really like it there. Casino has good variety, never had an issue with the rooms and I love the Sports Book, maybe my favourite in Vegas (I know this is a widely common belief). Also LOVE BLT Burger and often visit there even though I don't stay there anymore.

OP, I think you and your friends will like the Mirage just fine. Plus the location is great, right across from the Linq area which has a million different great options

 

You'll be fine there. I usually stay at Aria as well. If you can, try to get a Two Bedroom Tower Suite. They are the best for the money. Basically a one bedroom suite with large living area and an adjoining room.

I really like the Aria too, but depending on who's going with you, the Mirage tower Suites cant be beat. Plus its really easy to walk around the strip from there.

 

I usually stay at Aria, but have stayed at Mirage on a solo trip and will stay again on my upcoming trip. The rooms are relatively updated and I would say they are just a bit of a step down from Aria in quality. The casino isn't as nice, but it's still large and enjoyable, I just don't like that they don't have any good VP under $5 or any good BJ under $25. I like the pool as well. The buffet was not as great as Aria, but was still good and solid with beer and wine included, which is nice.

I really don't understand the "armpit of Mlife" response... Monte Carlo, Excalibur and Luxor are wayyyyy ahead in that realm.

 

Do you know if any of the two bedroom tower suites have a room with two queens? I might put the family up in one of these and have a one bedroom for myself.

Mirage would likely be very nice for them then. Mirage is definitely "older" in terms of game selection. We like staying there, but we tend to play elsewhere. VP paytables are pretty rough there.

 

mirage is my favorite. i go there twice a year and never had a bad experience. it is far from the "armpit" of mlife.

 

I spend the majority of the trips at the Mirage. There is no question that Mirage's heyday as the topdog in vegas is long gone but the property is still a good resort. Comparison always depends on what you are comparing to. The resort is not the Wynn, Aria, or Bellagio, but you aren't paying the prices for those types of accomodations either. I consider Mirage to be a top 2nd tier property and for me this is exactly what I want.

 

Really do like the Mirage for many of the reasons stated above. Good shows, good buffet, decent games. Solid option.

 

We really enjoy Mirage, armpit(?). I don't agree. As stated it is a nice second tier level resort and better IMO than any CET resort except CP. As a room snob I would prefer Wynncore, V/P, Bellagio, or Aria as places I've stayed at before but can't seem to play enough to get comps there. As a matter fact we have a trip planned this summer and are staying in the 2 BR tower suite (partial comp, but splitting cost of upgrade with our son). Can't wait!

 

We really enjoy the Mirage and feel very comfortable there. The tower suites are great with a lot of room and their own ice maker-LOL-I am a person who loves a lot of ice in their drink and this saves a trip to the ice machine. I think the Mirage would work out well for you and the rest of your party--and of course as mentioned the location is perfect.

The biggest detractor for me is the relatively few options in or nearby for cheap or basic eats without being what I deem overpriced.

I do like the hotel/casino as a whole. If there was one or two solid basic food options, the Mirage might be the Goldilocks winner (just right).

 

I stay at Mirage once a year because the group I go with likes to stay there and they won't consider staying anywhere else. It's just what they like and know. I usually stay at the Aria for all of my other trips.

Personally, I think it's fine. I don't really like to gamble there... but I like the sports book because of the size, seating area, and large screen 4k HD board they installed last year. Japonais is one of my favorite restaurants. Heritage is decent too.

The rooms are okay. I'm not a fan of them, but they're clean and comfortable in a contemporary way. I much prefer the Aria rooms.

The location is pretty good too. It'll be fine. Just take a cab over to Aria when you need a break. That's what I do.

 

The ONLY two hotels that my wife and I stay in Las Vegas are the Aria and the Mirage (we are Gold Mlife members). The Aria in the winter time, the Mirage in the summer time. I couldn't disagree more with Shifter saying that the Mirage is an "armpit".

The rooms were redone a few years ago, so they are not dated. They are nowhere close to Aria quality, but they are more than fine. The one major downside to Mirage's rooms is only one sink in the bathroom.

Otherwise, outstanding pool, great sportsbook, great gambling, variety of food options for different budgets (the new café is a nice addition for lower cost eats) and great location. I wouldn't compare it to the Aria, but I would rate it higher than every Caesar's property except CP and Cromwell.
