For me it's a must. I don't like to carry the whole trip's bankroll on me at all times. Too tempting to violate my daily gambling budget.

    What about you?

Sorry if this has been asked before. Mods, you can delete this if need be.

I don't use it so much for cash as I take most of my stash and put in the cage as front money.
I do use it for travel documents, watch if i don't want it stolen by a hooker,
maybe some chips from another casino that i won't be cashing for day or so rather than carry them.
not much else. i could get by without one though.

Same here. I also prefer to lock up any small valuables that I've brought that can fit inside also. It's not a deal breaker if the place doesn't have one, but the likelihood I'd stay there would be pretty low.

Used to not matter to me at all. Now, its very important as a place to lock up cash, chips, and my tablet pc

I'm torn. On the one hand, it's definitely important for me to be able to lock up my cash, high-end laptop, etc. On the other hand, if someone on the hotel staff wants to get into it, they can. It's more a protection against my room getting broken into. I want it, but it wouldn't dissuade me from staying at a property, especially since I could always just leave stuff in the house safe, which I've done before.

I always use it, and take pictures of what im putting in before and after!! So just in case something happens, I have proof. Whether that would matter or not I doubt it, but makes me feel better. Same thing I do with a rent a car before and after!

It's a must for me as well. I never use my Gold Coast offers even when I have a comped weekend night and need one because there are no safes. I know you can get a safety depsit box, but that's a PITA.

Very important to lock up everything during parties in the suite.

I always use it and would be concerned if there wasn't one available. I don't like taking all our cash out each day.

Never stayed at Gold Coast but was thinking of it in the future. Not so sure now that you've mentioned that they don't have safes. The in-room safes are actually for my own protection from MYSELF, lol!

It's make or break for us. Between the cash, the jewelry, the tabs and credit cards I'm not carrying, that's just too much to risk by trying to hide it in my luggage.

Typically I lock my cash up in it and thats about it. Honestly its not a deal breaker to me if I don't have one, I always put the privacy sign out and make it a point to have my room noted that I do not want house keeping unless I call them for towels or something. Im solo so I'm the only one in my room and I always make it a point to double check the room is locked when I walk out, just force of habit.

I do that too, with regard to the safe. I also sometimes leave my laptop on the nightstand and take a picture of it there too.

No in-room safe = deal breaker.

I think the only place I've seen without them was IP. I assume they installed them during the reno, though. What places still don't have them?

I'm not a huge gambler, I always have a car, and I Bank at Chase. I carry about $1500 on me and go to the bank when I need more. I have never used the safe.

I wish I could say I never used the bank!

If there is a safe in the room I will use it... if not then its not going to get me to switch hotels.

Interesting to read though that a few people have the idea that if they don't have a safe in their room they would instead just carry all their money with them: I would be thinking that leaving extra money in the room (tucked away in a spot in the suitcase or in the pocket of a pair of pants in a drawer or something) would be safer than just walking around with your whole roll in your wallet... figuring that the odds that you could lose your wallet (IE: have it fall out of your pocket, leave it behind somewhere or having your pocket picked) would be greater than the odds your room would get broken in to back in the hotel and your hiding spot found.

I use the safe for cash (although I've moved to using an ATM each day) and for any electronics, wallet, ID, winnings etc.
