Money Clips

Does anyone even use money clips anymore?

 

I do! I have a nice hand-tooled silver one with a Morgan Dollar set in it that I picked-up years ago at the coin store in Carson City across from the old mint. It's true though I don't see them much and my contractor friends who seem to carry a lotta dough at all times just use a big-ass rubber band to wrap around their hundies. Something about the rubber-band makes it difficult to pick-pocket.

I found clips slide out of my shorts pocket.
Especially, in a cab or vehicle seat.

I use 2 rubber bands wrapped ( perpendicular to each other = North + South/East + West )
around my cash wad --
Stuffed into my shorts FRONT pocket with a bandana.
The bandana acts as a lid.
NEVER had a problem in 20+ yrs of drunk in Vegas !

 

My pop does, it's not that unusual at all amongst the old Italians. Also, status is achieved with gaudiness level-lol.

Yeah, I use a leather magnetic jobbie. I found one I really liked a year or so ago with a matching wallet so that is what I now carry. Only problem in Vegas is it won't close if the wad is too thick.

 

I use a ccard sleeve that has a clip attached to it. Like captainron62 in Vegas it sometimes wont fit all the bills.

 

My wallet has a clip on the side. I love it.

 

I used to carry a money clip all the time. We had a bunch made for this old firm I used to work engraved with their logo. I liked it because it had this hinged clip design which allowed it to hold a very thick amount of cash+cards very securely. But I don't want to use it any more with that logo on it.

A year or two ago my girlfriend bought me an expensive one from Saks for like $500 and it was the most useless thing I've ever owned. It was a card case with a clip on the side and it could hold like 5-10 bills maybe. It was such a ridiculous item for that price. I wouldn't have paid $10 for it much less $500, so she returned it.

Most money clips I've looked at are not very functional. I like functionality and couldn't care less about the name or image. She hates that I use this cheap All-Ett wallet even though it is one of the greatest pieces of engineering designed for men.

 

I had a very nice one but just gave it up because it wasn't adjustable. It worked fine for a losing trip, but a winner it wouldn't expand far enough. Now I just bring a small (losing) and medium (winning) binder clips. Works perfect. Also over the last 30+ years my initial bankroll has increased.

 

I do. Believe it or not, I got it from the old Sky Mall magazine, a couple of years ago. It holds about 6 slot/credit cards on one side, and has a clip for money (and extra slot cards) on the other side. Two trips ago I forgot it, and used binder clips, which was an okay substitute.

Front left pocket has the money clip for all gaming needs (bankroll, slot cards). Front right pocket has a much smaller stash of bills for "walking around money"--food, drinks, tips. When I have a winning session, the winnings go into the front right pocket--even if (especially if) it's just $5 or $10.

 

I don't at home but I'm going to have two clips next time I'm in Vegas. I was frustrated trying to keep bankroll and tip $ separate. I'll either get something online or go for pure function and get two folding paper clips.

 

I always had trouble with money clips carry large numbers of bills and the money clip never holding the bills. I've looked all over for a good money clip and have multiple ones after awhile they loose there tension and the money falls out. Until three months ago a friend of mine turned me on to the Titanium Viper money clip. This is the best money clip I have every owned. It will literally hold one bill up to 60 bills and has not lost its tension. Yes it is expensive but to me if this is the last money clip I ever buy then it is worth it. Check it out.

Yep, I use a thick rubber bank to hold my cash and cards while in Vegas...

 

I came to this thread to see if anyone had one of these. I've been looking at them but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I love the idea but I don't use one. I usually fold my money over my MLife and TR cards and mingle the tip money with the gamble money. I see it as one big wad of debauch-enabling.. which probably is why I have had 2 winning trips in 10 years.

That seems pretty cool if it can really hold 60 bills tightly.

And that's not expensive at all comparatively. Just basic money clips I see in stores are usually way more expensive. At $50-$70 even if you don't love it, its not a big waste.

I agree with others though that for casino/Vegas sized rolls a rubber band is the easiest and most functional. It is very sad though when you start with a huge knot and after a while it gets so thin that the rubber band becomes useless because it basically crushes the bills.

 

I use one in vegas so i dont have to dig out my wallet for every purchase or tip.

Mine is magnetic and opens fully and magnets shut, very handy for the days cash.
