I am sure that some of you remember that around Christmas time, my ex wasnt going to pay his child support...
well he did, although at the last possible second..
then last month rolls around and he told me about 4 times he paid it.. well January 30th rolls around, no payment. the local DPSS office tells me that he could have paid it at that second, and he wouldn't get credit for the payment due to processing time.. so no payment in January. I just asked him what happened, he said his parents cars needed fixing, so no payment. He said he would pay me this month the full amount of this month, and part of last months..
my worker with the DPSS said that one missed payment and they submit his name for a license suspension... today I was informed that yes, they have in fact sent it in for suspension to the DMV. He then has 45 days from the date of that letter to submit the full payment to have it not be suspended.. well seeing as how this month ends in 10 days, (and as of today when he called me to complain about his sorry life, he has not paid anything,) he won't get credit for this month either.. So by the time he gets the letter, he will owe me three months worth of support plus interest to avoid that.. so were looking at almost 1k

so I am happy that they really did submit his name for suspension.. maybe it will make him think before he decides his son is not important..

Very personal info for a Vegas Message Board; I can only imagine your frustration. I hope losing his license won't affect his employment as that would also inhibit his ability to keep up support payments. That seems an odd "punishment" for being late. I may be wrong, but in Canada I believe this type of situation is handled by wages garnished.

It makes me feel better to vent to people I don't know..

and he does not work, refuses to work. if he worked it would be a wage garnishment..

Sorry to say...but I SERIOUSLY doubt having a suspended license is going to make a difference whether he pays or not...
But on a better note...the money will be good when it comes through!

oh well maybe it will, maybe it won't.
but he travels to SD a lot, and he has to go to school too, and he knows a lot of the cops up here, well, we both do, so I have no problem finding out if it is suspended and then ratting him out..

and once i know it is suspended, no way in hell will i be allowing him to have our son with him

I'd go to a casino. Nothing better when the cash is low and the chips are down than the heady rush of a casino!

Good news that not receiving his support payments hasn't left you short since you still have discretionary income.

Realistically, all we can do is wish you the best. At least you have the ability and opportunity to work and apparently survive in spite of his non-support which in itself is a blessing .
