Do we know where else in the US of A comps drinks? I'm going to be in NOLA for a couple of days for a conference and was thinking of stopping in at the Harrah's. I THINK they comp drinks but was not positive. I seem to recall getting free drinks at Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun as well. Everywhere else (outside of Vegas and AC) it seems like I've had to pay.

Harrah's in New Orleans definitely does comp drinks. Can't speak to any other non Vegas places.

Also, just so the OP knows, Wynn does not comp drinks for players at their video poker bars.

As mentioned earlier Louisiana comps drinks. Mississippi is also free as well as most in Pennsylvania. Iowa and Colorado are free but state law limits your comp drink rate I believe. Most of the midwest isn't free; hence, me making trips from St. Louis to Tunica more often than I probably should.

Cool, thanks. based on where I live/family I visit live, I guess I just have bad luck. Because when I'm not in Vegas I typically go to Kansas, Missouri, Ohio and Indiana casinos.

The only places that normally do no t offer comp drinks are native American joints per my experience.

My assumption so far has been that it is based on state laws.

    Nevada - comps
    Lousiana - comps
    Mississippi - comps
    Michigan - comps

    Florida - no comps
    Kansas - no comps
    Wisconsin - no comps

In some of those states my experience is only one or 2 properties so I could clearly be wrong. The states I listed that do comp, all gave free drinks in multiple areas of the state.

It goes state by state in non-Indian casinos. Ohio doesn't want anybody to have any fun, so we put in casinos only out of budgetary desperation. But no free booze. I think each tribal council decides at Indian casinos. Although an Indian tribe is a sovereign nation, and not technically subject to state laws, there is some interplay.

I've played at a number of Iowa casinos and have never gotten a free drink. I once got a free drink in Minnesota but that was 20 years ago at the small casino up by Lake Vermillion.

They do at most NYS Indians casinos.....but not all, even though they are owned by the same tribe.

The only one I've been to is Turning Stone. The first time I was there, they didn't serve alcohol at all (which was, of course, brutal). The second time I was there they had a beverage cart with beer (and maybe wine), but it was definitely not free.

Council Bluffs Harrah's and Horseshoe comps for 7Stars and i think Diamonds. And in NOLA, it seemed like the alcohol option on the beverage order screen wasn't there if you weren't playing.
