The best VP game at The STRAT is sub 98.5%. I hope they go out of business.

Why do you presume that I meant a club customer. Believe it or not, there are other types of customers. In my personal observation, most people I know who have come to Vegas for the first time more recently are not passionate about going back the way people were a decade ago. Too many people are complaining about the fees and expense. Even for myself, I used to go as much as three times a year. I am heading back less and because I'm hyper aware, I don't spend a ton of time on the strip. The Srat isn't going to get my money but that perspective of the Strip resonates.

    An excellent post

I think the dealers at the Strat are represented by a union, tough to terminate due to grumpiness. Maybe she didn't get her prunes that day.

When enough people "complain" in the only voice that the Strip casinos understand, i.e. withholding money, only then will they stop doing what they are currently doing.
    But not until then.
Ironically, the fact that you spend any money on the Strip will only encourage them to keep doing the same things that you want them to stop doing.

And yet visitor volume is at all time highs and growing... you and others can continue with the "today's Vegas sucks" schtick, but it doesn't appear to be the pervasive view no matter how many times you post it. Las Vegas welcomes visitors of all ages, income levels and interests and appreciates their business. Your stay and play is missed and it's regrettable that you no longer experience the same "value" you feel you once did, but it's not creating the hole you and others continue to insinuate it that does.

Lol that's terrible given their crap location.

And of course the TV commercial is even better. Taped on 6:5 BJ tables.

Agree and btw, what does have the same "value" it once did? Very few and far between. Vegas is a huge business not there to make us rich. Yes people complain about the fees and expense but they are still going.

Was Vegas snootier when suit-and-tie were de rigueur?

I for one wish it went back to the suit and tie days. I'll take that over guys complaining about putting on pants over shorts to go to a nice dinner...

In the 1970s the Strip (actually Las Vegas as a whole) had an air of class that you don't see today. It was not the faux-exclusive drek of the velvet rope clubs and such.

I remember such places as Desert Inn and CP were definitely higher class, and I thought they were outa my league, but I would not use the term "snooty" for them.

My two cents: I go to Vegas because I don't want to feel like an average everyman (I do this at home ). I go to Vegas to detach from the everyday and want to experience "the life". I think that add campaign might bite them in the end.

Also a MUST would be no resort fees........can't have it both ways and a $20 resort fee for a dumpy place is worse then a $25 resort fee at a 5 star resort.

This is so true. Resort fees at properties that have no resort amenities is deceiving.

Ditto. I'd also add that properties that are struggling should do a little to get people to stay at their property.

I like watching the amazing women in the mid-evening when they're on their way to the clubs, even if I wouldn't ever go in. (Well, I'd probably wouldn't get in, since I would be a solo, ugly, soon-to-be-middle-aged guy).

I do want to make my way to the Strat, if only to go to the top to take a look. If they offered property-wide good rules, I'd probably spend an evening there gaming.

The likelihood of the club girls getting laid is considerably higher that mine, which is zero.

Also there is the fact that at this time of life, those kids could be my granddaughters.

I thought that about 10 yrs ago or more . That's why I spent most of my time off strip and d/t.

The strip can be pricey if you want it to be. But it can also be reasonable. I've seen several ads for rooms at Excalibur and the like under $40 per night. There is fast food everywhere. Drinks are free if you're playing. When I was younger I used to do the strip very cheaply and still had a blast.

What kind of extra risk do casinos take by having 3:2 at all limits instead of 6:5? What about full pay VP over crap paytables? 2/12 paying 3x as opposed to 2x? I know we always complain that if casinos kept those games, they wouldn't be going out of business but if it were really that simple, you'd think the suits would have caught on by now.. I know on BJ varying bets with count could hurt the casino but couldn't they just remedy that by putting lower maximums?
