    My Trip Report

Did online check-in. Upgraded to business class for $288 from Calgary. Flying in the evening returning early morning so it's really like 1 1/2 days in Vegas. Some background: donating $2k to slots for some future comp offers, second time doing a solo trip, I love eating but hate eating alone, therefore I will be drinking most of the time :drunk: Guinness has vitamins and minerals right? Staying on a comp stay at the Venetian. Be ready for my first update tomorrow

I learned my lesson last year about chasing comps.

Went near the end of the mLife year to make Platinum. My normal budget for each trip is $4K for 3 days. Ended up down $7K by the end of the trip, and resigned to take my losses "like a man". On the way up to the room, I decided to put one more $100 into a $5 triple cash machine. 3 pulls in, red 7, red 7 . . . . I was begging for any 7 just to ease my pain . . . it stopped on Triple cash. $6,000, which still left me down $1,000. That, and the fact that the slot host came back with a Platinum mLife card made the trip worthwhile.

    Good luck . . seriously.

I googled it. Guinness has plenty to sustain life for exactly 1 1/2 days. Good luck!

Vegas is one of the few places I'm not uncomfortable eating alone. First, many people do and many restaurants are well set up for solo dining with counter seating. When alone, I like the counter at Holsteins (Cosmo), counter at 24/7 (Palms), Earl of Sandwich (Palms and PHo), counter at Beach Cafe (Tropicana). I like the counter option as there are always others eating alone and I've met some nice people and had a great chat while eating. I'm not much for food courts. Planet Dailies is another good option. I stay away from finer dining on solo trips because I would feel lonely and pathetic in a nice restaurant solo.

I might try the Holstein's counter. Yeah, last time I was at SW there was a guy eating by himself and drinking a fine glass of wine while reading his iPad and he looked perfectly content but my entire group was like poor guy. Also, first update! Used my Altitude status with Air Canada and I got a free upgrade for my return flight! Kind of weird sine I booked tango but it was coded as "G" which let the system think it was a higher fare and it let me use my upgrade credits.

I travel to Vegas a lot. Some trips are with friends or family, but the majority I do on my own. I prefer the solo trips. I have dinner every night at higher end restaurants. I usually sit at the bar, but have sat at a table. I've never felt out of place by myself. There are usually other solo diners as well. I've never dined alone in my home town , but Vegas is totally different.

What a crazy night! Flight got in late so I dropped my bags and started gambling. Only gambled at Venetian. Got rated $145 avg bet for 4 hours and earned 17,000 Grazie points. So close to earning gold in 1 night. Hit 2 hand pays and gave it all back plus another $5k. So down about $7,000 for the trip. Heading right now to check out Whitecastle and then probably going to Rhino later.

Well, he did say $2k for slots. Maybe the other $5k was tables. He does not seem distraught over it, so it's all good.

he just said he allotted $2k for slots for comp chasing.

I think it was pretty clear he had a separate BR for his normal trip.

Ok time for all the details. Arrived to Las Vegas an hour late but I had priority tags and my luggage was the first one off. No lineup at the taxi stand and had a pleasant ride to the Venetian. I always tip big for good luck. At check-in they tried to sell me an upgraded view for $30. Passed on it, wasn't planning to spend much time in the room. As I was walking to the slots I saw my usual craps table and bought in for $300. Hit a few points and some hard ways. I'm now up $1,000 in the first 10 minutes. Now if you've seen Louis Theroux in Vegas you'll remember Allan the High Roller when he won $50,000 right away and wouldn't quit. Exact same with me. Proceeded to high limit slots. Got my first hand pay after about 15 minutes. Kept playing and lost it back. Then I hit my second hand pay which was even higher. Now if I walked away at this point I would have been up quite a bit and played enough to maintain my offers. But like all true gamblers you never quit. Proceeded to roulette and lost everything. Hit the ATM. Back to roulette and lose everything again. Hit the ATM. Go to play Blackjack Switch. Triple my money. Like an idiot go back to roulette and place my usual bets at 3 times my normal level. Lose everything. Now the pit boss is paying attention to me and my frequent trips to leave and get more cash. They say they know who I am and don't need my Grazie card. I figure maybe Venetian isn't the place to be playing, especially since it goes against me chasing comps at other properties. Go to the Mirage. It is now 5:30 am and I got into the Venetian at 10:00 pm the previous night. I haven't eaten anything and I've been gambling the entire time. Take out $1,000 at the Mirage and do a $500 spin in roulette. Not one number hits. Pit boss comes by and says it's all gone already? Try again. I do and lose everything again. Well that was a fun 5 minutes. Take the walk of shame back to the Venetian. Go to bed.

Wake up with a hangover and my stomach hurts and I've got no money. I should have just gone to sleep when my flight arrived. Decide I'll head over to try Whitecastle. Go into my online banking and move some money around. Hit up the ATM. Walked over to Whitecastle in Casino Royale. Place is a dump. Didn't eat but grabbed a $1 Michelob. Decided to play some craps. Hit my point with 100x odds and a hard way. Cash out. Played some freebet blackjack. Up a little and then I started playing black chips on the $5 table. I swear that CSM is rigged. Once I increased my bet the dealer hit Black Jack everytime. 5 in a row. Seriously? Went to their roulette table. Lost the remaining cash I had. Hit up the ATM. Think to myself forget gambling I'm going to Rhino. Had more fun with $800 for an hour in Rhino than I did through all my degenerate gambling. Get back to the Venetian and decide to ask the host desk for a massage :evillaugh The very nice host on duty named Kumi says she can't give me a massage but will comp a dinner for me. So she books me at Cut. I have the true Japanese rib eye ($200 for 11 oz. and a 25 year old Hibiki Scotch for $25 a glass plus a macaroni side). So I was having a solo fine dining experience which I wasn't planning on. The service was exceptional. I went in underdressed but I probably spent more than anyone else and I know I would have left the biggest tip too. Honestly, the steak was charred too much for my liking but everything else was top notch. Went to the Grazie desk and they said I earned $103 in slot credit and I had $100 in table match play. Turned my $103 into $135 and won every hand of my match play in black jack. I should have stuck to craps and blackjack this trip. Saw a hooker get kicked out by security. Decided to call it a night. Woke up for my stupid early flight. Usual taxi ride back. Put $20 into the slots in the D gates terminal. Turned it into $56. Used my winnings for breakfast at California Pizza Kitchen. Stats for the trip: Loss of $8,000 (no biggie, if you can't afford to lose it then don't gamble), earned just under 18,000 Grazie points in 1 day. Rated at $156 avg bet for 6 hours. Any ideas on future comps the Venetian will offer me? Hope you enjoyed my trip report.

I have no clue what you get in future offers, but holy crap...I'd say you are pretty damn lucky to only be down $8k with the way you were gambling. On the flip side, had luck gone the right way for you, you would be up a pretty decent amount!

Good tr. Sorry about the loss

I've had trips before where I would wake up with my pockets emptied the first night from Getting too fucked up While gambling.

I don't think I've ever won on roulette. Surviving on the wheel is a win in my book
