From a shoe? What do you get, 10 hands out of that with the cut card?

I havent played the dd high limit game since May and it was hand held. Im interested if they switched to a dd shoe dealt game myself.

Ive read on here that some dd games are shoe dealt now but have never seen it myself. Im picturing its a very short shoe/card holder.

I think I've seen it dealt from the normal 6/8 deck shoe. It's just weird to see since there are so few cards in it.

If that's the case I'm sure it's probably to eliminate flashing the cut card and bottom card to players or another prevention reason? The dealt card holder is smaller and I was just thinking it would be a smaller shoe.

I would agree with that assumption. There are so many inexperienced dealers out there that might expose cards. When the M first opened, they had a lot of weak dealers where you could see the next card coming out on a pitch game.

It changed in early Sept 2014. I was at Aria in late Sept and it was shoe-dealt; I asked about it and the dealer said it had changed about two weeks previous.

Assuming that you care about your theo, why would you want a faster game?

That's exactly what it is for. To speed.up an already fast game. More hands = more money for the casino.

I'm a sucker for action when it comes to blackjack

    Right on about game speed
cards last longer as less ppl touching
Faster game, as dealer can add quickly and move on
    Less confused hitting signals

The El Co, Plaza & LVC have been doing this for years on their 2-deck games downtown. (Those are about the only double-deck games downtown that permit DAS).
As far as 'hands-per-hour', it's only a little better than a pitch game, as the shuffle comes almost as frequently. The only difference is the penetration...with the shoe, they use a pre-set cut-mark on the discard tray...it equates to about 2/3. Pitch games are all basically 50%, give or take. So maybe an extra hand or two per shuffle, depending on the total number of players.

The big advantages the house realizes are:
Card replacement is half as frequent. (This adds to hands-per-four-hours).
    Almost no risk of card-marking.
    Very low risk of card-swapping.
Fewer misdeals, as most of today's dealers are trained using shoes.
Hand signals are 'better' for the cameras than scratching, tapping & tucking are.

Advantage to the player? Only one besides the 66% penetration, but it is significant:
Much, much easier to keep an accurate count when all dealt cards to players are immediately exposed (excluding double-down hits).

Same reason most people are there in the first place... enjoyment.

After all, for most people, the casino gets it eventually. LOL!

They added it to the HL games in November as well. I was there the day after they instituted it. At first, walking through the HL, I thought they had eliminated all the DD games because of the shoes at each table. Then I realized what was going on
