One of the LV new blogs Vital Vegas ran an interesting story about some of the mysterious ways of Las Vegas. It got me thinking of my own mysterious experience and I was wondering about the odd encounters of others?

Dec. of 2011 me and a few pals were staying at Harrah's. As were the norm I would awoke, go get a coffee and hit some VP at was is not the LINQ, but was then the IMPERIAL PALACE. I was playing along, sipping my coffee and enjoying the experience of waking up with the city when one of my buds called and asked me to meet them up by the craps tables. I began walking towards the front when I detected a strange smell, the smell seemed to be getting stronger as I got closer to the table games. By the time I reached the front people were beginning to hastily exit. We also began to walk briskly towards the door, we were laughing at first as were some others. It was soon realized that a walk wasn't enough and we along with others began to run, it became a little crazy with everyone running towards the exit at once. We got out into the valet area and it was not until we were all the way out on the sidewalk of LV BLVD that we could breath.

It was a crazy scene and an odor of biblical proportions that I have never experienced before or since. It literally cleared the casino out and no one seemed to know what had happened. The bowels of death was a descriptor I remember hearing to describe the foul odor. We ended up walking to PH and thinking this would be some big deal and we would hear about it on the news or at least learn the source. Nothing. The next day I walked back in the IP and you could still smell a lingering odor, which wasn't abnormal, but this was especially potent. I asked around the casino and everyone obviously played dumb. The best I could get was a casino worker telling me they believed it was due to a gas back up in the plumbing under the casino that back vented into the property. I am sure I have not accurately described the smell, I just am not that talented of a writer and I don't think you could understand unless you were there.

We all know LV casinos are spin masters, I am just wondering of any odd experiences of others?

There's often a nasty sewage odour in that area...perhaps conditions that day (rain?) that magnified the problem?

If it was indeed a natural gas leak, it would have definitely stunk of heavy methane.
I can't think of anything odd that happened in Vegas...but in Reno, on the otherhand, I was right there in the casino when the Vagos/HellsAngels shootout took place (and I mean right there)
The funny part was...some old codgers playing slots, didn't even budge! LoL, definitely a scene out of the parody casino movie.

Now that you mention it, yeah, everytime I go up to the top of Eiffel Tower, I smell it...it's the smell of reclaimed water (what they use to water the vegetation on the strip)

I remember a very strong sewage smell also at Caesars close to the diamond lounge, diamond check in area next to the Augustus tower.

I've a few "mysterious" events with gambling...
Once, a pit boss found me playing blackjack and handed me $40 in chips. He tells me that I left a $5 pass-line bet working, and they pressed it twice before realizing I had moved to blackjack - and that I wasn't just hitting the restroom. The weird thing is that, while I had been playing craps, I know for certain that I left with all of my chips. So I suppose it was somebody else's $40, but they were sure it was mine, so I didn't argue. I have no clue as to why they would have pressed it twice.

Speaking of odors, when staying at Planet Hollywood a few years ago there was a lingering sewage smell in the casino near where our bank of elevators let off. We asked the bartender at the circle bar just outside the casino about it and he said that it happened about once a week just before the trucks came to pump empty the septic tanks. Taken with a grain of salt as I'm not sure if the casinos have sewer systems or indeed septic systems. He said all the casinos had septic tanks. If so they must be huge!

This is a cool thread...I wonder if anyone has ever had any supernatural type stuff happen?

Before I stayed at Bally's I read stories about it being haunted because of the huge fire back in the day. I was on a solo trip so of course my mind started playing tricks on me the first night...thinking I was hearing shit and having that feeling someone is watching me. But after that first night it never happened again because I was drunk when I got back to the room and passed out.

When I opened my first restaurant, we had a grease trap in the kitchen (my other places I have the drums for everything). I would not let the employees clean it out until Friday after we were closed because of the smell.

Oh for sure! I love reading about creepy stuff.

On a side note...speaking of ghosts. A funny story

Me and a buddy walk up to an elevator bank in Bally's a couple years ago. He's wearing a shirt for some band that has a pic of an astronaut on it. Guy standing there says "what are you some kind of cosmonaut?" And we both recognized it as the line from ghostbusters when they're headed up to their first call. So we had the whole exchange with this dude without cracking a smile...and then all busted out laughing and shotgunned the beers we had.

Man at Elevator: What are you supposed to be, some kind of a cosmonaut?
Dr. Peter Venkman: No, we're exterminators. Someone saw a cockroach up on twelve.
Man at Elevator: That's gotta be some cockroach.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Bite your head off, man.
Dr Ray Stantz: [Entering elevator] Going up?
Man at Elevator: I'll take the next one.

    Vegas!

I have a super weird, but explainable story, going back to the smell. Can't believe I'm posting this to a public forum....hahahahaha-

My sister and I were playing at a 2 bank slot area. Her and I were sharing a machine, and a man sat down next to us, the only other machine in the area. A short while later, we were overcome by a horrible smell. We looked at each other.... a slight grin on each of our faces.....the guy beside us had passed gas. It was pretty overwhelming, but for some reason, WE didn't want to seem rude (wtf?) so we kept playing, trying not to show we were now at this point laughing so hard (at how horrified we were) that no sound came out. We were red in the face, trying to hold our breath, laughing, but not wanting to embarrass this guy. This lasted at least 2 minutes....it felt like a lifetime.
Super weird- why we didn't think at the onset to hit cashout and leave?
Unexplained/explained- true slot degeneracy to stay playing in some guys fart cloud.
Sorry if this story offends anyone. We were offended too.

This is a review of a stay at the Luxor 5 years ago --(from a travel forum) Not mine but I found this to be the weirdest review and comments -- she still gave the Luxor 3 stars and had positive things to say about her stay -- I don't necessarily believe in ghosts - but I have seen things I can't explain. The weirdest thing that has happened to me in Vegas was down on Fremont Street with a bilateral amputee - ventriloquist started chasing me around in his wheelchair- the doll was doing the talking.

The title was "This place is haunted"

Me and my 18 month old son stayed in room 19207. Let me start off by saying my son is a great baby and is very loving and never gives me hard time.

We arrived on Monday In our Suite it was amazing we loved it. As soon as i unpacked my son started to act unlike himself he was bitting me hitting and pulling my hait tried to scratch my eyes out he started to hit himself pull his own hair and pulling on his eyelashes pulling his ears and bitting himself, and destroyed the room meaning threw everything on the floor, my mother stayed in another suite and my son was violent to her also. I dismissed it due to the fact that i thought he was sleepy because he was awake the whole 4 hour drive there.. So bed time comes around and i pull the covers to put my son into bed that was about 8:30pm as i uncovered the covers theres a fresh blood on my sheets i was horroified i called the front desk about 8:40pm the maid didnt get there until after 10:00pm.. When she came to my room she was so sorry that she didnt come faster becuase she was hoping someone else was going to come here because she didnt like this room I didnt pay no mind to what her comment was. I thanked her and she went on her way. I went to sleep about 12:00am. I had a dream that a blonde women was trying totake over my body. I woke up due to the fact it felt real. It felt like i couldnt breathe about 2:00am I was saying a prayer and than i felt someone sit on my bed it was horrible my heart started to raise so i prayed more. I just thought my mind was playing tricks on me. Tuesday morning my son woke up the same violent way he was acting on Monday. He wouldnt eat nothing for the time were in the room. So we went site seeing and so forth. About 7:00pm that night me and my son went to my mothers room on the 22floor and we cam back down about 8;00pm i got my son ready for bed he was on the bed waiting for me while i was going to use the restroom as soon as i opened the door there was the blonde women standing there going threw my clothes that were haning up she turned her head and gave me the most evil look. i closed the door real fast i had a horrible eary feeling and made me sick my lil hairs on my body were standing up. i ran to my son ran to the living room and i looked for the phone but realized my son put the cordless phone in the bedroom. i went in there to get the phone and all tho she never showed herself to me again i felt her i felt like i couldnt breathe and m,y heart was racing i cant explain how i felt but i was terrified the feeling that spirit gave me. so i called the front desk they got me out of that room and upgraged me to an apartment like suite. as me and my son stayed there for 2 more days he was himself again loving kind he ate so much and was just my well behaved son. i REALLY LIKED how the Luxor got me out of that room almost with 10 minutes they even packed my stuff because i refused to go back into the bedroom. Im not sure i will ever go back there but i did like it the remander of my stay. Im just thankful my son is ok. They have great food and great attractions. I did try to ask around to see if someone was murdered but a local told me that they do not disclose that to the public because of a bad rep. So if you stay there stay away from the 19th floor 19207 to be exact. Our other room was wonderful and no problems .. It is a beautiful hotel..
