ill be out there the night of new years with my girlfriend, what do you guys recommend us to do? its our first time on new years so I don't know what to expect, any suggestions and/or tips places to go? places to avoid? is there somewhere they have a huge party? night clubs? thank you
If you want to do public places and hang out in casinos or Fremont Street you'll do O.K. (though getting around anywhere near The Strip is problematic starting mid-day NYE). If you're looking for a seated party experience at clubs or the prime restaurants, many are already booked. Bill
. . . and here's the schedule for Tributepalooza on Fremont St. http://www.vegaschatter.com/story/2014/11/17/132015/00/vegas-travel/Fremont+Street+Partygoers+To+Experience+TributePalooza+On+New+Year's+Eve
The cover bands brought in are some of the best I've seen. I try and see them on nights other than NYE, though. Thank goodness they're spread out enough to do that. Bill
Whatever you decide to do on NYE ,make sure it is at or very close to where you are staying. Transportation is impossible as the Strip is closed and cabs are nowhere to be found. Many Strip hotels will not even let you in the casino without a room key or confirmed reservation..
Glad we're not staying on Fremont if the bands play until 3:30am. I'd have to drink until I passed out to get any sleep. We'll be staying at Treasure Island and doing the Gilley's hoedown.
All night clubs have major parties. So it depends on your musical taste. Personally right now for the price Surrender is a solid deal with Lil Jon. $80 for guys, $55 for women with an open bar from 9-11 which means get there around 8 since it takes usually 30 min or so to get through the line. Everything else is insane in regards to pricing at the clubs for just general admission tickets.
If you are out on the strip (from an experience 15+ years ago) don't wear a nice necklace. There IS a possibility it will be pulled off and the thief melts into the crowd as seemingly mindless / disinterested folk block your path to pursuit. It is extremely crowded and "close" if you are into that sort of thing but not everyone is looking to the new year in the same way. And the other tips about getting around and especially back into the casino / hotel are true. Have fun!!
"Crowded and close" is generous! Picture someone's chest pushing against your back and your chest against the person in front of you. Shoulder to shoulder with almost no control of the direction you go. 90% of the people are hyper drunk. Vomiting, fights, and beer cans thrown into the crowd are the bonus.
Well what time dot he streets clear up a bit? We will probably be in a club until 1:00 or 2:00 so hoping that things have cleared out a little.
We got stuck in that mob last year, as we tried to walk back to Paris from Caesars after the fireworks. It does start to disperse/move after 1. Probably a good idea to stay wherever you are until at least after 1, prob closer to 2 even.
