I am taking my daughter for her 21st B'day next week & she said she wants to roll the craps dice.

Where would you take a 21 yr old for their lucky roll of the dice?

Venue is not the issue, the type of bet is more important. Pass or don't pass with full odds and have 100 x your pass line bet as bankroll, and avoid all the other bets. She has the best chance of winning this way. Also set realistic win goals: if she makes 25 units, she should quit!

it's just too bad they still don't have the 100x odds bet..

on my 50th birthday, me and a bunch of fellow vegas degens went there and when it was my turn to shoot....
$5 pass line... rolled a 6... 100xodds bet, $25 hard six bet... 2 rolls later... bingo! hard 6

I see what you are saying - do my best to give her a winning experience so she has fun & walk away when ahead to maximize the fun... great advise. I don't play craps - where would folks that are experienced players want or indulge a 21 yr old? I also don't want her to intrude on a game so to speak...

    haha!

My favorite crew is the 4am to noon crew at the Cosmo. They are very nice and will be patient with a first time roller.

Anywhere! A female first-timer will have the red carpet rolled out for her at any craps table.

I like Cosmo for the fact that they usually have a bunch of tables open, the mins are usually lower than the other top tier joints and the atmosphere is hard to beat. Unfortunately, "dumber than a box of rocks" is a phrase I often find myself muttering with respect to the crew. They're usually friendly and fun...but I've yet to play at a table where at least a few dealers didn't reinforce the belief that Americans suck at math!

For me, Wynncore and Aria are tops for the high end joints. Whatever they're calling IP these days and the aforementioned Casino Royale Con Queso are fun low roller places.

Excellent - thanks Fellas! I really like the blackjack dealers at the Cosmo last time I stayed there so I am glad to hear the craps crew is good too.

The dealers at Aria are professional, engaged with the game, not indifferent to it like I've seen at Paris and Flamingo, and are friendly. However craps in the morning is better suited to a beginner than at a table late afternoon or night when a newbie needs thick skin from the verbal abuse potential.

Start her out on the correct path: teach her to be a wrong bettor!

She may like that - I am not sure it for the general mathematical reasons or for the idea of betting the dark side (Star Wars geek reference).... It seems wrong to have her do that for her first ever roll - would you?

Noooo! Don't make her waste all that goodwill she'll get for being a virgin! She'll be the life of the party if she's betting the right way. As a darksider, she'll be shunned.

The difference in expected loss between betting the pass and don't pass is less than one bet...over the course of the entire trip. Have fun. Don't sweat $6 on a trip where you'll be spending thousands.

I took all three of my kids (two daughters & a son) to Vegas for their 21st birthdays. Good times had by all.

My youngest turned 21 two years ago and the whole family was determined to tag along. (Never again!) The women wanted a center Strip location and TI had the lowest rate. Since I was going to have to stake her, I took my youngest daughter across to Casino Royale for her first crap table experience.

Didn't do anything fancy. Pass line + single odds for her so she could understand the basics of the game. I did insist on one thing, however. I told her, "When it comes time for you to shoot the dice, I want you to say these exact words in the exact order I tell you. Don't worry about what they are if you don't particularly understand them." She agreed and after a little rehearsal, we were off to CR.

Sure enough, she was good to her word. When the dice came to her to shoot, she picked two and then said to the dealers the words we'd practiced: "Don't short stick me, Buster!" and hurled the dice as the dealers, box man and all the players at the table howled with laughter!

We now have a fond memory - especially after I explained to her what she had just said!

    Have a blast...

When my daughter turned 21 we stayed at the Flamingo and the dealers were very good. She is 35 now.

Hit up the Cosmo for sure. She is going to be 21, it's the scene for the millennial crew. Plus, no matter where you take her, there is no one that is going to complain about a first time female shooter, especially just turning 21. That's all kinds of good juju right there for a hot roll.

First ask if she want the table to herself to roll or roll as part of a group.
I would say PH if she wants a crowd. Good dealers and tables always 1/2 full.
If she wants to try by herself, go next door to Paris or Ballys.

Make sure everyone at the table knows she is a first time dice shooter. The table will go nutz!

I feel like it is more important to choose the moment than the place. We can have fun in a parking lot and be bored at Disneyland. It's about the time with her dad and the vibe, not the casino.

That being said, I would advise a hald full table in the early evening when it is about to pick up steam. Start her to the right of the shooter so she can observe and absorb the game before the dice get to her. Point out how other shooter's dice etiquette. (One hand, over the felt...) Point out the function of the puck. Teach her to say Red instead of seven. Have her order a drink with confidence. As far as betting, since craps is a social game I would put her on the pass line with single odds and have her choose one place bet. Let her advance at her own pace, answer her questions, don't push her.

And for Pete's sake, play the fire bet! A 21er is a sure winner.
