    Hi guys,

I'm thinking about booking a room at the Eastside Cannery in february. I know it's off strip, but we (my wife and I) really don't mind. We stayed at Sam's Town last summer and the location didn't bother us at all. We'll have a car for the whole week and are not the biggest fans of the strip (we had a blast at a Longhorn blackjack tournament... lol!), so location is not an issue.
Does anyone know if the rooms at the Eastside Cannery are comparable to the rooms at Sam's Town? We won't be in our room too much, but we do like a clean room that's not too small.

    Any thoughts on this hotel?

    Thank you!

I have never stayed at Sam's, but I have stayed at EC. EC's rooms are very nice and roomy. I would be surprised if Sam's were nicer. I am planning to stay at EC for upcoming MM. BTW, I enjoy a little Longhorn blackjack also.

    That sounds really good!! Thanks!

Yeah, Longhorn is great, we really had a fun time and the cocktail waitress came by so often that I was totally buzzed after 2 hours ;)

Thank you so much! It sounds like a great hotel, so I think we will be staying there for at least 3, or maybe even 5 nights and skip a strip hotel all together!

Longhorn, Silver Nugget, Ellis Island and a few others are all that's left of the Western, Gold Spike and Westward Ho dive casinos. There used to so many dives, but they are rapidly disappearing. Nothing will ever top Westward Ho... Long live the Ho!

It may be strange, as I love to hit the pillow at Aria, but every trip I just have to get my gamble on at a seedy casino.

I only stayed at Eastside Cannery once but the room was very nice, Strip quality, and I think I only paid $39 a night for it during the week. Great value! I would guess that the rooms are nicer than Sam's Town.

Staying there this Saturday night and will report. They sent me a free night. I love going to Longhorn and location is perfect for that.
I also like a seedy casino every trip. I have stayed at Sam's before and will compare for you. My wife like the casino
at cannery better as she found Sam's town too smokey for her.

Out of the 50 some trips I've had in Vegas at a variety of properties, the best room I can remember is a spacious corner suite with hot tub at the Eastside.
The best part was that I had booked the standard room (which I believe are slightly better than Sams) for $39/nite and used the $20 trick for the upgrade.
Never expected something that nice, even beating out rooms at Mirage, MGM, PH, GN, HR, etc .

That suite sounds really good!! I might try the $20 trick, but not sure if it will work if we want to stay for 5 days.

I won third place in their blackjack tournament (Longhorn) and won a free 3 course meal for 2, including drinks. The food at the restaurant was actually pretty good!! We didn't expect much of it, but we were pleasantly surprised :)

I have stayed at both Eastside Cannery and Sam's Town. Eastside Cannery offers better rooms in my opinion. I love the views from those floor to ceiling glass walls. If you get a corner room, the whole experience is just grand. However, I think they cost more money than when I had one.
This is a five year old set of photos and evaluation, but it stays in my memory.

I have stayed in the regular rooms and liked them although the view is less spectacular.

I just am too fugal to book there. I think about it. Then I get a better deal somewhere.
However, seniors will get $10 off the rack rate by calling and asking.

The VP is pretty amazing. Over near Marilyn's look for full pay.

including rare games you just will find few places in Vegas. The JOB is very unusual.

Live poker is a fine limit game of 2-4-6, but it is dominated by locals and a bit tough to crack.

My favorite part is the Monday night Latin show, Claudine Castro on Monday nights. I go there every trip.

The Webpass games on the website will give you some free drinks and buffets and other things depending on what they offer. You do have to print the voucher before you leave home and present it to the Player's Club within 7 days. However, I actually got a couple free wines at the bar and brought them in early to the lounge and just let them sit. That night I did not have to buy a drink. You don't have to actually play games if you just check in and do the key search and the puzzles, etc. Points add up.

The 202 city bus will get you to the strip and back in 30-45 minutes each way, and it just sits at the edge of the parking lot while the driver takes a break. Just watch the time. The last 202 bus that hits the EC comes just before 1AM. I went to the EC from the Gold Coast last trip and it was an easy ride, especially late at night when there was little traffic on Flamingo.

Walmarts for food snacks is across the street.
BankAmerica for fee free withdrawals ( if you have an account) is also across the street.

I like the buffet. It is basic, but there are things I really enjoy there, including Cholula on the table if you ask and moonpie cookies.
Last trip I got two free wines at the bar and carried them into a free buffet for supper.
I never eat beyond the buffet, but I've heard good things about the other choices as well and the Webpass has some great deals sometimes if you have enough points.

There are plenty of promotions. Some days earning a few points will get a free buffet.

We are going there for the first time this coming Saturday, but not to stay overnight. They have a locals promotion where for a new card sign-up they reimburse your first $500 in losses. Will give that a try. You can get the same deal independently at the other Cannery in town.

Stayed at Eastside last Saturday night for the first time. The room is defiantely nicer than sam's town. I like the counter/bat area by sink. The floor to ceiling windows are nice. Casino is more open and air cleaner than sam's. East side does not have breakfast buffet on weekdays. I think I prefer sam's crowd and gambling more. Longhorn is fun across the street. Reminds you of old El Cortez days 20 years ago. $1 Miller lites 24 hours

So rooms I pick east side. Overall place to stay and gamble I would pick Sam's town
