I'm not sure what the machine is called, maybe multistrike. But at Wynn across from the Red Card desk there is a VP machine that I could play 7-5 BP but a choice of 3, 5 or 10 hands. Is this strategy the same as standard BP?

I apologize for my ignorance but my guess is that VP experts know what I mean.

Sounds like a standard 3/5/10 multiplay machine. The strategy is the same, you're dealt the same starting cards for all 3, 5 or 10 hands.

There are some variations such as ultimate x and super times pay. Those games have some slight variation to perfect strategy.

Super Times Pay or Double STP has no strategy change because multipliers are awarded randomly. Ultimate X does because future multipliers depend on your hand result. Multi-Strike strategy changes because to advance a level, you must make a paying hand, so it's more important to make a paying hand on the lower levels.

I'm not sure if he is referring to Multi-Strike Poker or not because those are typically four levels. Standard 3/5/10 play multihand machines do not have a change in strategy.

7/5 Bonus Ultimate X strategy (best you'll ever find at Wynn would be 6/5, which this strategy will be close):

And just in case he really did mean multistrike...Approximate 7/5 Bonus Multistrike strategy. It's probably even worse than Ultimate X. Levels 1 and 2 want you to hold two high cards over a low pair for example.

Thanks to both of you. Yes, this was a standard 3, 5, 10 play machine.

I play the Triple-Play machines at MSS, as well as the 50-Play machines at the Cal, and at the Four Queens (or you can select fewer lines than 50 if you wish). Whatever you bet for the base line applies to all the hands you are playing. You are dealt ONE hand, but whatever you decide to "hold" will also show up on all the other hands you are playing. When you then do the follow-up re-draw, each hand is then filled in from a separate deck for each hand.

It can be a lot of fun, and at times VERY exciting ....

I never really played the triple play machines or 5 play etc.. for any period of time. Are the pay tables often downgraded for these machines or can you still find 9/6 Jacks 8/5 BP or 9/7 DBP even on these?

At Wynn BP was 7-5, and it was the same on the multihand machines.

I do believe that the majority of properties do indeed downgrade the pay-tables on multi-line machines.
One of the best places to play the 3-Play and 5-Play machines is down at the South Point Casino. They have dozens of those machines all over the casino, with 9/6 JOB , 8/5 Bonus , and 9/6 DDB. Check it out on www.vpfree2.com .

Thanks I was gonna do that prior to going I see MSS has 8/5 BP in 3 play. What advantages do people find playing 3 play? Or is the variance just bonkers playing 15 credits at a time?

One advantage would be accelerated coin-in. Possibly more entertaining. I do believe it increases the variance (would like to hear more on this).

I was wondering if it reduces variance. Like playing multiple spots at BJ.

I could see where it goes either way on the variance... more hands per hour and more losses?

    Less variance, and more variance...
Less variance than playing $1 single-line video poker ($5 per push, play 4-handed @ 25c and it's $5 per push with LESS variance)
MORE variance than playing 25c single-line video poker (obviously, $1.25 per push, vs $3.75/$6.25/$12.50 per push)

Like tim says, if you are betting the same amount per "round" variance on multiple lines is lower because each line costs less. If you keep the same denomination per line and increase the number of lines, the variance will definitely go up.

As for paytables, multi line games rarely have paytables better than single line. A decent amount of casinos keep the paytables the same as long as you stay at the same denomination. Going below quarters often gets the paytable cut significantly.

I saw that MSS has 8/5 BP on triple play. I think I will try to run some money through that on my trip at the .25 level. I usually stayed away from the multi-hand machines because in my mind they seemed like sucker plays.....not sure why, maybe the max of 15 credits seemed to much to me at my low roller status...
