Have a Oct. 16th and 17th, Thurs. and Fri., from work. (working on getting wed off as well). In need of some time away. Work has been rough. Boyfriend has been out of work due to back problems. So not a lot of extra cash. But I can't get Vegas out of my mind. Just for fun decided to check airfare to Vegas. $135 round trip. Can get comp nights at Ballys. Never stayed there. So $135 plus resort fee for 2 or 3 nights. Around $200, I can get to Vegas. Can't even go to the local casino for that price. I won't have much to gamble with, but to be in Vegas. :D

But I probably will be by myself. (Unless I can convince my daughter to take a couple days off of work and go.) Her boyfriend has been working out of Vegas, so she might consider it.

What would you do? Should I jump on it? :confused2:

    Thanks for any input.
    Karen

You may not have another opportunity for some time. Do it.

As long are you're not putting off bills or charging anything to a credit card I'd probably do it.

You never know when you're going to get hit by a bus. Go for it. I am comfortable with a couple hundred dollars on the credit card to make the trip more enjoyable.

Being in Vegas without being able to do what I want is just torture for me, so I wouldn't go unless I had sufficient funds. Everyone is different, though. I'm guessing you came to the message board for affirmation in your decision to go...so I won't be a downer

I can't be the only one who read this and thought it was hilarious! Being a Vegas message board and all...

Thanks for the laugh Karen, but seriously...

I totally agree with dfalk: As long are you're not putting off bills or charging anything to a credit card I'd probably do it.

Sometimes you just have to take care of you. Have fun!

Thanks everyone. Money really isn't a problem. Just won't be going with as much gambling money as usual. And I usually plan my vegas vacations months in advance. And the fact that I might end up going solo. But....I am going. Just a 2 night trip. Daughter might join me. It is time for me to take care of me. Now to start the planning. And I only have 2 weeks. Yippee!!

If the room is comped, you may not even have to pay resort fees.

Did you really think any of us were going to say no? DH and I are going in November. It's the first time we've gone anywhere overnight alone in almost 10 years. Money is very tight right now but we need desperately to get away and our anniversary is coming up. We've been married 22 years and never had a honeymoon. We took one trip to Vegas for 3 days ( 10 years ago my daughter was conceived at the Flamingo) ;) and are finally getting back! Room is comped, now all I have to do is save up some cash for the spending money. I'd really like to go out for a nice dinner for our anniversary. We'll see what happens. It will be really nice just to get away and be alone for a bit. We've had a rough year.

I used to think you couldn't have fun in vegas without at least a moderate amount of "walking around" money. Then I read the BigEmpire trip reports http://www.bigempire.com/vegas/triprep.html

It's important to remember we all make our own fun, if you don't make it, it's called entertainment.

I'd go for it.....everyone's budget is different to have fun and it could be you will find out "fun" can be had with a smaller budget at risk and more time to walk and observe. Eating may be the only uncomfortable moment but most places I have been to serve at the bar and you are welcomed and certainly not protruding as the proverbial "sore thumb"....GOOD LUCK!
