What has been your experience with the pit critters on the strip or downtown with spreading your BJ bets. What casinos bring the heat fast and which ones will tolerate your spreads. Also comment on your spreads that you were getting away with.

I usually sit at a min 100-300 table in high limit room and my bets vary from 300 to 1500 but if im running well i will go alot higher with my most being 7k on a hand. One time i had a 5k hand out and had a double which made it 10k.

Ive never really noticed any heat but the pit does come by and watch sometimes.

I played at the Mirage last week in high limit about 8 hours. I spread bets between 100 and 1800. I do not count but try to hit streaks of winning multiple hands in a row and doubling up each hand. 200-400-800-1600 for example.

I was spreading 25-200 @ sls on a busy saturady night and pit boss did not leave my table. If he did it would be for a quick sec. then right back to my table. At New york new york DD game on the main floor i did the same thing but pit boss never stood by the table. I assume because the DD games are being watched by the eye in the sky. mgm grands heats hit or miss on the shoe games.

My spreads in a session can be VERY large, but I increase bets mostly when on a winning streak as opposed to the card count. I have never had an issue with the large spreads because 1) the pit is usually familiar with me and 2) I clearly demonstrate my spreads are based on runs rather than cards, as I will often maintain a high bet during a streak even when there is a mid-streak shuffle.

Low-limit player here. My spreads are very modest, and I play two-deck only.
Typically, a 1-5 unit spread, but for practical purposes, that ends up being a 1-4 spread, since I only go to 5 units when the count hits +5... and in two-deck, that very rarely occurs.
As for heat? None for many years...I've had some pit scrutiny and some shenanigans (like rotating dealers every 5 minutes, changing decks an hour after decks were changed, chip-fills when the rack was already almost full...those kind of things).
But I haven't been 'backed-off' or barred in over 15 years.
I play downtown only (and periodically at the Gold Coast).
I look for $5 tables, but will play $10 & $15 tables as well.
Usually, once or twice per trip, I'll play quarters.
The least scrutiny I've experienced downtown was at 'theD'... but I don't think they're dealing a two-deck game anymore.

The most pit scrutiny I've noticed has been at the Cal, LVC & the El Co...with 4-queens getting an honorable mention.
So - for least pit attention, I would suggest MSS, Fremont & Plaza

If you play downtown & you count, for the best game conditions, I would suggest the two-deck shoe games found at El Cortez, Plaza & LVC.
All of the downtown tables are H17, but most do not allow DAS.
    Those two-deck shoe games do!
They also have a pre-set cut notch they use, ensuring consistent 63% (or so) penetration. The two-deck pitch games - just about anywhere - typically cut at 50%.
Oh, and the El Co? They will watch your play very closely, but even so, they've never backed me off. Neither has LVC.
But again - my spreads are quite modest.

Yeah, I would hope a place doesn't back you off for 1 to 4 (rarely 5).

I was backed off twice in the last 8 months. Once was bevause i didnt care, the other was because i was winning too much. My play is watched quite a bit.

My spreads vary and are based on counts. I hit and get the hell out of dodge. Always tip and that will throw the scent off and work in your favor. I will throw some intentional bets out there to appease the eye as well.

If you don't mind me asking who backed you off? What were your spreads and count?

Blackjacknut, does this mean the Monte Carlo didn't give you satisfactory results on your conversation with them? Or are you looking to spread your play around a little bit more?

Pit and security backed me off. They asked me to bet flat at first and then I went and played craps and came back to a different table later that night after shift change. They backed me off within two hands of sitting down, so I hadnt really gotten started. I have a standard progression I go through and counter measures I use.

In this instance, it was just stupidity, greed and alot of booze.

I've been backed off and flat-betted this year, both within two weeks of each other.

Prior to that, I'd been a happy counting camper for three years.

I got backed off at a local Native American casino, spreading 1-10 on a shoe. I got backed off due to carelessness and flat-out stupidity. I was playing by myself most of the time, during the day when I normally didn't go, and playing in the HL limit where I was pretty much one of the only things for them to be looking at.

I got flat-betted at Aria (so that means all MGM properties and anybody they share that information with) over Super Bowl weekend, spreading 1-2 at a $500 table on the floor. I wasn't even in the high-limit room. They nailed me when I bought in for a second time. My SO thinks I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time and they were being extraordinarily cautious because of the holiday weekend.

Either way, I'll never forgive myself for being so careless

Josh, I'm looking to spread some of my play around. I'm just trying to get a feel for which casino's bring heat fast and which ones will let you go for awhile. I will hit some of the high limit rooms, but also like to try my hand out on the main floor where I can do a slow and steady rack with the count. I generally play $100 min but like to spread from 1-5 units but have been known to play $200 hand and spread up to 5 units. I will increase my minimum when I want to play at the higher levels to keep the heat off as much as possible. This includes going up to $500 minimum, however I've been known (my last trip) to throw down $1000 per hand, but this is not the usual case for me.

In the end I figure it can't hurt if I spread a little money around even if it's inside the MGM family. This way I'm not as easy of a target for heat...I'm not really crazy about CET as I had a bad experience with them (i.e. under comped for 2 years, and couldn't get a host to come out behind his desk to talk to me upon checkout). I may play some downtown or at some off strip locations, we will see.

wow - busted using a 1-2 spread? I got flat betted at mirage. What's your plan for the future? Never playing at mgm properties? Playing unrated? I've noticed that being labeled as an "advantage player" has affected my comps from non-bj play and casino personnel arent as nice to me.

Best advice is to sit at a table in a pit with someone playing bigger than you. This will help keep the heat off from the floor personnel who will be watching the bigger player most of the time.
