My Trip Report

This format was received well from my previous trip reports and opted to utilize it again.
Instead of listing it chronologically I will break it down into topics.
Due to the amount of information, this format will allow you to read any (or all) the topics of interest.
If you have questions or want further details about any specific event let me know.

~ Quick Summary
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Awesome trip. If you play a slot machine enough you tend to see the same bonuses and amounts, and some trips the bonus rounds seemed to have been removed. But this trip the bonuses were in an abundance and in slightly higher than their usual amounts.
Not only were the machines a bit generous but so were the Craps tables. It was one of those trips were all cylinders were hitting. My wife must have pissed off the slot gods but the Craps gods did smile a bit on her. More detail within the report.
There are probably more pictures and video than one should have but with the report being broken down into sections just read/view which you like.
Oh, did I mention my first hand pay. There is proof. See below.
Plenty of feedback and reviews on the slots. We mostly play at CET properties but will say that the MGM properties have many more of the newer slot machines.
~ Labor Day Weekend
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

While waiting for the luggage I chatted with the limo driver on how sparse the airport was with people especially with it being the Labor Day weekend as our host mentioned this is an extremely busy weekend. He commented that the crowds are mostly due to those living in the surrounding states and the crowds mostly arrive via cars on long weekends.
To be honest we couldn’t really tell this was supposedly a crowded weekend. The only way we could tell it was supposed to be busy is the $15 table limits and the crowds at Fat Tuesdays. The report in Feb I mentioned seeing the longest lines ever at Fat Tuesdays but this trip had it beat.

Here is the limo we rode in.

~ Check-in at Planet Hollywood and Room info
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We normally stay in the Resort Vista room but for some reason we got the regular Resort Room (not Resort Vista) this time. It would be a $50/night extra for the Vista room so we stuck with the Resort Room. This room had a slightly smaller bathroom than the Vista but much larger bedroom area. Although the Resort room is bigger, the downside is it only has one closet while the Vista has two closets. Also the TV in this room is off to the side which wasn’t comfortable viewing while sitting in the bed. (see the pictures)
The major upside with the Vista room is that all Vista rooms are at the end of the hall and essentially by themselves. The Resort room has adjoining rooms and let me say that you hear just about everything. The people next door sounded like there were a dozen people and kids next door. You could also hear the shower and running water on the other side. I will be specially requesting our host book the Vista room for future trips.
Attached are images of the room.
~ First meal - BurGR
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is currently our official first meal of each trip as we know it will be a good and fulfilling meal.
We were early and there must have been 20+ people in line before it even opened.
This is definitely a highly recommended place to eat. Two burgers, sweet potato fries, water and tea cost $50 with the tip.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ Giada’s
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Had our anniversary lunch at Giada’s.
The Crowell in general is small but is configured very well. The layout is friendly and even though it is small they have a nice combination of old, new and unique slot machines with a good variety of table games.
Giada’s is located upstairs. We arrive right at opening for lunch along with a number of other people. We you first go upstairs we all had to stand around before actually going into the restaurant. I will say this configuration is poorly designed because there is little room to stand around. There were only a dozen or so people and we had little room to move with more people coming up the stairs.

The waiter was outstanding and really helped to make our experience enjoyable. His name was Shane. After our waiter left, my wife gave me the look when I told her I was going to yell “Shane, come back!” (Only people of a certain age group will get that.)

I opted for the Lobster Roll which came with a zucchini salad. My wife order the baked pasta with arugula salad.

IMG_8665.jpg IMG_8668.jpg

After my food arrived I commented that he forgot my salad when she said that those stringy things on my plate was my salad. Very usual but it was great.

Next we ordered dessert. Being a Tiramisu fan, I opted for the Chocolate Tiramisu and my wife opted for the Assorted Cookie Platter. The Tiramisu was one of the better tasting Tiramisu desserts I have eaten. There was an abundance of flavor yet not overpowering or overly moist as with most Tiramisu desserts. On the cookie platter there are three types of cookies. The Lemon Ricotta cookies are supposed to be her own famous cookies. These were unique in flavor and excellent. The chocolate chip cookies with nuts tasted just like the Pillsbury dough ones you get in the tube at the store and cook yourself. They were great tasting but just not unique. The dark cookies had peanut butter in them. I didn’t try them but my wife took only one bite and left both and they didn’t appeal to her.

Notice the Happy Anniversary written on the plate which was a nice touch.

IMG_8672.jpg IMG_8674.jpg

Overall, it was a great anniversary experience and lunch. This meal cost $108 which included a $20 tip. The only drinks we had were water and iced tea. The price was a bit higher than expected, but we more than made up for it as we each made off with a Giada pen.

Here is what the restaurant looks like from the inside.

~ Paris Snack
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Always like to try a new treat and this time my wife had a Raspberry Napoleon and I had a Florentine.
The Florentine was a bit dry by design but actually had very good flavor. Of course you see the chocolate on the outside but the inside was a combination of nuts (pistachio, walnuts and almonds) and cherry.
~ Bellagio Buffet
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks to MyVegas my wife received two Free Buffet passes. To kill time we actually walked around the Ballagio casino for the first time and they had a great selection of slots. We primary play at CET and only give minimal play to MGM but it was hard to pass up the games here. I am a big Top Dollar fan and they had the mother load of Top Dollar machines. Unfortunately their typical Top Dollar amounts ($5 and $10) were amounts you usually see in other casino’s High Limit areas.

The Buffet was a bit smaller than some others I have seen and what I was expecting. Don’t recall seeing any crab legs as seen with most other buffets. The salads were premade and you have to ask for it which I liked. The less community utensils the better. The salads were nice and cold and very fresh tasting. The shrimp roll was surprisingly excellently for a buffet. Would have preferred the shrimp to be cooked which caught me a bit off guard but you can tell the shrimp roll was made with all fresh ingredients.

They had a station for fresh omelets which was a surprise for a lunch buffet. While walking by another station I asked the guy what he was making and he said “sliders”. Holy crap. Fresh sliders?!?!?!!? I figured I would wait for them to get done. He tried a few time to get me to leave by commenting it will be a while. I told him I have no place to be and I was going to stand here while digesting my already eaten food. I applaud any buffet which has a station that makes the food fresh and this buffet actually had two. It wasn't long before the line grew behind me. The sliders were outstanding.

Here are some pictures of food from the buffet.

~ NYNY and Hersey Store
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The outside of NYNY is looking great.
Would like to see them incorporate the walkway in front of NYNY all the way up/down the strip. It would avoid the congestion and have plenty of room for those people with places to go and those who like to stop dead in their tracks to look around.
We stopped at the Hersey store after the buffet so we were still too full to try anything but they had an awesome selection of items as seen in the pictures.
I dare you to say there is nothing in these pictures that entices you.
~ Linq
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Walked down this alleyway to check out the new stores.
Had to stop by to the CupcakeATM.
There were plenty of people utilizing this machine simply to give it a try even though you could go inside and order the same items.

IMG_8678.JPG

Did stop in Ghirardelli to get a chocolate milk shake. Awesome!!!!

Probably don’t expect to revisit the Linq again other to try the pizza place and get another Ghirardelli shake.

~ Pizza
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tried the Pin-up pizza in front of Planet Hollywood. It is expensive. The slices are large but a slice of cheese cost $5 and change. Tasted ok but ended up a handful of grease with it dripping down my arm.
Another night we tried the pizza from the Rock Bar in the Planet Hollywood mall. We had this once before and actually one of the better pizzas I have eaten in Vegas. It cost $13 and just the right amount for my wife and I to split.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ Planet Dailies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our first breakfast was at Planet Dailies. We were too early for breakfast and opted to wait 45 minutes for breakfast to start as my wife wanted pancakes. The wait was not worth it for the pancakes as my wife claimed they were not very good. I had the Western omelet and it was very good. The amount was filling and the contents (ham, green peppers and onion) were all fresh. With juice and water it was about $27.
We ate here again the next morning. This time was arrived before breakfast started which gave access to their late night menu. I was looking forward to wings for breakfast, but opted for the Kobe beef sliders. My wife opted for the Ruben. Definitely not the breakfast of champions but it was oh so good. With juice and water it was about $40.
20140902_060245.jpg 20140902_060403.jpg
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ Earl of Sandwich
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ate here twice. Great place for a quick meal. Granted the line can get very long but we usually eat off hours. My first meal was their Club sandwich and the second trip which is my breakfast before the early flight home and it was the Baha Wrap which was surprisingly outstanding and the sauce had a nice little bite to it.
Was a bit disappointed they no longer provide a meatball sub.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ Craps
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With Craps I search for an open table so I can shoot which means I have to play at Paris or Ballys because the tables at Planet Hollywood are always packed.
First session of Craps kicked ass. Well not at first. Lost most of my buy-in and broke my rule and tossed out one last $100 then the magic started. Always great to start with a winning session. Couldn’t hit a damn point but the 6 & 8 as well as the hard ways (6 & 8) were in an abundance. Didn’t hit but maybe 2-3 points that entire night but because of the magical 6 & 8 and hard ways the session ended up $500+. With that said I played 3-4 more sessions that night and nothing was working. Started the night hot but that was it. For that first night I was still in the positive which is always good.
20140901_195829.jpg
Next day played a number of sessions too. I know why I couldn’t hit a point yesterday. It is because they were all hiding and today they decided to come out. Best session was hitting 5 number fire bet. Was never able to set the 5 which was the last point. Instead the 9 and 8 came up an additional 2-3 times. Overall I hit about 10 points. The hard ways must have gone into hiding as they didn’t appear today.
20140902_085425.jpg
For the rest of the trip my wife joined me and we went on a roll. When I was hot she was cold. When I was cold she was hot. We had more winning sessions then losing session. She even hit a 4 number fire bet.
20140902_190051.jpg 20140902_190058.jpg IMG_0112.JPG
I know hitting a fire bet isn’t a frequent occurrence, and being part of two in two days is pretty awesome. I will definitely be putting an extra dollar or two on future fire bets.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ Let it Ride
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have been trying to get my wife to play a table game (cards) but she has been reluctant. I know it’s a fear of losing all her money in the first minute or two. We actually met up with a friend of hers who is a big Let it Ride fan. I thought this would be great because her friend would be able to talk her to into playing. When we talked I was surprised to hear her buy-in for a Let it Ride session was only $200 as I thought it required a larger bankroll to play. Unfortunately we couldn’t coordinate with her to play. After one of our hot Craps sessions (that sounds a bit weird) I played a Wheel Of Fortune slot machine which hit a bonus for $500 (see picture below). I said if she is willing to play Let it Ride I will cover her $200 buy-in which she agreed (who wouldn’t).
We played for over an hour. She was just about out and I still had over $100 and started playing greens and stayed alive for a few more hands after which I cashed out with over a $100 left. We started with an empty table and a few people came and went. Overall it was very enjoyable and can see it being a lively fun table with the right mixture of people.
This machine was located outside of Earls in Planet Hollywood. It seems like the machines in this location gets replaced once or twice a year with something new. I don’t foresee this machine lasting long.
IMG_0118.jpg
We tried it and although it appears I received a bonus the machine opted to keep it for a future bonus. Hey, if I won a bonus give me the option to play it or save it.
Here is an example of the Avatar slot machine with what appeared to be a bonus.
Talk about a game with options. Not only do you have the option on the number of lines and credits but you also have the options for a Multiplier Boost, Scramble Boost and Mystery Gem Boost.
The following video shows the Scramble Boost in play. Once all the matches have been exhausted, gems are scrambled to hopefully find additional matches.
He is an awesome magician because he wasn’t around yet he made my money disappear.
~ Davinci Diamonds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is usually a good machine with good bonuses. Even when the bonuses aren’t hitting there are usually a number of frequent and multiple hits with this cascading game.
Unfortunately this session paid back barely anything and there wasn't any duplicate matches for the cascading portion which was highly unusual for this game.

~ Double Diablo Slot
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Had two sessions on this machine. Both times played for a long time resulting in 50+ Tier Credits and both times left up about $50.
Session 1 some guy sat next to me and he was having just as much luck. We both commented when anyone of us would hit a nice amount.
Session 2 was the next day and I had my wife join me on the second machine. She was getting hammered by the machines this trip but did well on this machine.
With this machine don’t worry about the bars. Here you want the 7s with the twin devil guy.
I posted a similar video last trip too but only bet 2 columns. Last time I had to push my wife to play and this time it was actually her idea to give it a try with 3 columns. Must have been the alcohol.
I always see this machine but never had the desire to play.
My wife was going to be a while in the room and suggested I had down to play and she will follow shortly.
Near the elevators is a set of this machine and figured why not play until she arrives.
Come to find out these machines can be pretty active. Played a half dozen different sessions and only resulted in two losing sessions. The amount gained in the other sessions more than made up for the losses from the two.
Here are some images of a few hits.
Played this machine twice. After playing it the first time we were hooked and had to go back it play it the next day.
It may be a while between bonuses but they can payout a good amount if you are lucky in selecting a large number of free spins. It is nice when the bonus rounds can last a while.
~ Top Dollar
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As you can tell from my avatar this is favorite machine. At Planet Hollywood there is a set of about 5 machines with the option to play $1, $2 and $5. Although we played some of the 25 cent machine the majority of play was on the $1 and $2 machine. This is the first time coming across the $2 machine which is what I mostly played this trip. The $2 option is a bit more exciting than a $1 yet not as much of a drain as the $5. The first day/night this one machine was hot!!!! It paid out a number of bonuses so that night I hit it again long and hard (yes still talking about the machine).
It was late Sunday night. A long while after I should have stopped drinking. I have my ipod on listening to my Slot playlist and rocking away. Then it happened. My first hand pay. My wife already retired for the night. I tried sending the following image but she had no idea what it was. (Don’t drink and take pictures).

20140831_201852.jpg

Can you make it out??? I hit the 1000 credit playing the $2 option on the machine. It would have been nice to have a better picture of my hand pay, but then when going through my many videos I have I found the following. How could I forget it was recorded? Did I mention I tend to overdo the drinking my first night in Vegas? Disclaimer: There are a number of f-bombs. If not a fan, keep the volume off or keep the young kids out of the room. If not easily offended then turn up the volume as it’s actually pretty funny.

To make it official, here is the actual hand pay.

This is the next best hit on the Top Dollar machine that I played at Ballys. It is funny that this $1 Top Dollar machine is in Bally's High Limit area yet Bellagio has the $5 and $10 Top Dollar machines on their common area.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is this $1 WOF machine I like to play each trip as the sessions tend to be pretty long.
My wife and I finished up a pretty good Craps session and we were near the machine and have yet to play it this trip.
She was going to sit next to me and bask in the glow from our winnings while I played. It took a while then hit about 5 bonus sessions within 10 minutes. On the last spin, it stopped on $500.
~ General Observations
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Planet Hollywood’s Craps tables are always full even if $15 tables.
Rarely is there an empty table for any card game at PH.
Paris had the least number of active tables we have ever seen in a given trip especially if this was supposed to be a busy weekend.
For what was supposed to be a packed weekend we couldn’t tell.
Don't recall encountering as many hits on the slots as seen this trip.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The limo, room and about $360 worth of room charges (plus new shirt for the wife) were zeroed out thanks to our host (and our play).
It will be interesting to see what offers come in as we played way more Craps than ever before and less machines than ever before.
Thanks, I had to reattach the images.
For some reason they kept getting lost.
This was the third time having to do so.
Hopefully all images and video are in working order.
I like your commentary on the handpay!
I've told many a slot machine to stick it up their ass as well.
Headed to PH tomorrow and I will be looking for those Top Dollar machines. Do they still have the Double Top Dollar as well?
Great report the Paris party pit has me super stoked for my trip in two weeks
What's your craps betting strategy - I do double odds place 6 &8 if not feeling it max odds and place across if am feeling it
Excellent TR, very detailed.
Great TR! Loved the video's!
Just one question..how many TC did you earn over the course of the trip? (Pre-Bonus)
Thanks!
The set of machines were near the middle mall entrance between the 2 sets of elevators (closer to the HL area).
There are 5 TD machines and at least one is the Double Top Dollar. (assuming you mean the machines with the x2)
When I am shooting :
Pass with max odds. $30 each for the 6 and 8.
Start with $2 on the 6 and 8 hard ways and increase to $5 and $10 if they start appearing.
When others shoot I tend to drop the 6 and 8 down to $12 each.
