Golden Gate is good during the morning and afternoon. Too loud at night.

MSS with 20x odds, although I can rarely afford that. Cal with all the happy Hawaiians and Golden Gate.

For me without a doubt, MSS. I've played at all the other downtown casinos but I like the vibe at the MSS, plus I love the 20x odds. I had the opportunity to do 20x only a few times (on hot rolls) but I like it that I have that option.

Some other observations on downtown crap tables. This is JMHO, others might feel differently:

I don't like playing craps at the GN, the minimums are usually higher and the pit crew do not seem very friendly. I get more of a "snooty" attitude there.

4 Queens pit crew also aren't very friendly, they seem impatient towards players and don't make it a good experience playing there.

I get a headache playing at the D because the music is so loud. Next time I have to remember to bring earplugs if I want to play there.

Once while watching someone play at a crap table at the Plaza, I noticed the pit crew making faces when the shooter wasn't watching. After the shooter left the pit crew then laughed and made fun of the shooter. After that I always checked out the pit crew and ended up going elsewhere. Too bad, first impressions are very lasting, especially when they aren't good impressions.

While Binions have the dealertainers working the crap table I don't enjoy playing there as much. I like the old Binions.

The EC dealers also aren't very friendly and I find a number of rookie dealers on the crap tables. Still, $3 crap tables help fill up the table.

I usually check out all the casinos when I'm downtown, esp if I'm not doing well at MSS and the other Boyd casinos. I will jump in if I find a hot table. While I may not like some of the casinos I will play there if I can get on a hot table. Nothing makes a crap table as enjoyable as a hot table.

Another vote for MSS. On our last trip in April my wife and I played some craps for the first time and fell in love with it. We also tried at the D, and ElCo and they were great as well but MSS was definitely where we had the most fun. The crew was a lot of fun and they were very patient with us as beginners (as were the other players). Drink service was fantastic, she was offering them faster than I could drink them. All in all just a fun, laid back place to enjoy the great game of craps!!

I have to go with MSS as well. Always find good dealers there and I'm batting .500 on comped buffets from friendly Pit Bosses. Can't beat a High Roller Gold during a Crap game.

Last trip I finally caught a hot shooter and won a few Pass Lines with 20X odds. One time I had $10 on Pass and $200 behind. Man, talk about some anxiety but I was up so much I didn't care so much if I had lost it. The "9, Winner 9" call came and I crapped myself. I colored up $1300 on a $100 buy in. Looking forward to trying that again this weekend.

Your observations are similar to mine. I just got back from Vegas a few weeks ago and mentioned that the Cal was not as fun as before. I'm hoping it was just an isolated experience because I've had many memorable and fun times there.

But yeah, MSS is a fun place to play craps. And the Fremont is just plain nuts ( in a good way). Always crowded, always lively, always fun....

On the day I go down to the Mob Museum and to eat the DuPar's pancakes I will be stopping off at MSS to get some of that 20x action!

I am still amazed at The California only having 2X odds. It has the reputation as a craps mecca. Why? Just goes to show what a great marketing campaign idea, The Golden Arm wall, can do for a place.

I've played at every place downtown and have a chip from each. Even The Western when it was still open.

The best game (subjectively) is Downtown Grand. The dealers are extra friendly, the place is clean, and the drink service is fast. The tables are usually uncrowded but not empty which is a nice middle ground. It's always been $5 every time I've been there.

Runners up include The Plaza, Golden Gate and Golden Nugget.

The Plaza has good odds, usually uncrowded, and decent drink service. The place is a bit snoozy though so that's a down mark.

Golden Gate gets mention because of high energy and good atmosphere.

Golden Nugget is swankier and gets mention on that note.

OBJECTIVELY the best games are at MSS, Golden Gate and The D due to the best limits and odds.

California has terrible 2x odds and is generally a snooze fest.

Fremont also has terrible 2x odds but they usually have the cheapest table which goes as low $3 and more lively.

Binions often has higher limits than their peers. $10 is common. I used to like playing there but it's kind of meh now.

Las Vegas Club is a dump. I want them to succeed but they aren't trying.

It was hit and miss with me at 4Queens. I had some that were fun, and others that were just going through it. The D was better, the pit boss was dancing around behind the dealers, and the stick lady kept ribbing one of the other dealers because she had to almost hop on the table to get to the pass line. lol But, they all laughed about it. And, they seamed happy that I made a good comeback.

I always liked Binions when the family had it
(not BECKY). That said MSSis the best in the valley IMHO.

The most fun I ever had playing craps was at the California. Took 5 bucks ran it up to 140. It was me and 12 Hawaiians having a great time. Hooting, hollering, singing. Tipping the dealers. The most fun gambling I ever had.

El Cortez and Fremont are my favorite for cheap ($3) craps with proper payouts on the 6 and 8 place bets.

Cal and MSS are my favorite $5 tables.

I don't care about anything over 2X odds because my low-roller bankroll can't withstand the variace that high odds bets introduce to the game. I also play 6 and 8 place bets as much as I play pass/come w odds.

At Four Queens, the $2 automated craps game was more fun than the real craps.

You are correct, the Golden Arm is a good marketing tool. They even have annual Golden Arm reunions, a tournament reserved only for golden arm winners. While other casinos (Fremont, Binions I think) have started to promote the long shooters, you have a certain prestige to have your name on the wall showing that you are a golden arm shooter. Plus the Cal (and Fremont) have the Hawaiian crowd who will play despite the 2x odds. The Fremont even has a better promotion, on the bj tables (getting so many 21's in a day) and crap tables if you shoot for a certain number of rolls you can win a "sharpshooter" jacket with a good roll.

I think we all have our favorite places, many of us like the Boyd tables while others like the ambiance and tables at other casinos.

Yeah I can't recall who tweeted it but I am searching for it - saw it while eating lunch at work today.

I am going to be downtown for the Mob Museum and a craps crawl so this makes me happy
