I think it only opened Saturday night... how many pictures are shared/posted depends on how many people have been there since. Doesn't seem like there are a lot of members in Las Vegas right now.

We need a "Who's in Vegas Now" gizmo. Modify the countdown timer to include length of stay, then have it dump the info in a daily thread.

Check Yelp. Over 150 photos. Although most of the early yelp reviews of SLS are not sounding very good.

I looked through the reviews and there's a mix of positive and negative. Seems like everyone complained about disfunctioning elevators in the parking garage, that s/b easy to fix. It's typical to have a few issues during an opening, hopefully they work out the kinks in short order.

Not to mention that most of the negative reviews seem to be written by those folks who like to hear themselves talk, or write as the case may be... long rambling diatribes about how bad everything is. The kinda folks who'd love a column in the paper. I won't be there to check it out for a few weeks, but the haters have sure jumped on it early.

My favorite negative review on TripAdvisor is the one by the lady who was clearly pissed off that she wasn't given an upgrade at check-in and let that sour her whole trip.

LOL, I bet she was expecting the $20 coin-in 5 years ago at the old Sahara to qualify her for a free room upgrade. Too many people expecting too many handouts.

WOW!!! Soooo many bad reviews in Yelp. I can't believe it. I'm not sure if I want to take a trip up there to even check it out now.. We'll see when I get there. I will probably just go to the Cromwell instead.

I particularly like the response (see below) the hotel manager provided to one of the negative reviews on Trip Advisor. I think one of the gentleman's main problems was that there was no ceiling in the casino area.

"Thank you for your feedback! The SLS Las Vegas is a complete departure from the colossus monstrosities that line the Las Vegas strip. That said, not everyone who walks through our doors, especially on our opening night is going to identify with who we are what we've set out to do.

I wish you the best of luck as you find an operation that makes you feel more comfortable and is closer to the "norm" in Las Vegas. Please know the SLS family is always here for you if we can help with anything at our hotel or elsewhere!"

WOW again! This management doesn't seem to be to keen on customer service. They better learn quick, i'm already turned off thanks to all the neg reviews...They better get their social media team on Yelp ASAP!!

I like his reply. If you are going to complain about something as stupid as the ceiling in a casino, you deserve to be told "Hmmm, maybe you'd be happier somewhere else."

Too many people just LOVE to go on Yelp, Trip Advisor and the like and just bitch bitch about everything. I have no investment in how the SLS does, but I'm hardly going to come to a conclusion based on reviews of the opening night.

Actually, I wasn't being sarcastic (like I usually am)... I really DO like the manager's response. Too many businesses try to be all things to all people. They're taking a risk, no doubt, with a response and philosophy like that, but I like it. I've not been there and many of these negative reviews may be spot on, but I'll go in a few weeks and judge for myself. My guess is that the $5.99 buffet lovin', nickel-slot playin', blue-hair named Ethel won't want to be parkin' her oxygen tank at the SLS. There's plenty of places in town that will roll out the red-carpet for her... this isn't one of them. They say in the article above they're lookin' for "locals" business... remains to be seen if there's enough "up-scale" locals business to be had. I agree, as stated in above posts, that kinks are always a challenge on a grand-opening of any venture... while expected, they better make sure they're quick to get them resolved.

lolol exactly. I always take negative reviews online with the proverbial grain of salt. Especially on TA and Yelp where people piss and moan for the sole reason of pissing and moaning. That is a byproduct of the "get something for nothing" age we're in now too.

I remember when I was looking for info about Bally's prior to the renovations for a solo trip I read reviews that made it sound like I would be staying in a roach motel in Thailand. And then there were the people who complained because furniture was scratched or trivial things like that.

I will go read the Yelp and TA reviews on SLS for entertainment...especially the clown who was bitching about the open ceiling.

...a shiny new casino/resort in Las Vegas...you've got to go and see it for yourself!! Most over-the-top negative reviews are usually from people that will never be satisfied even if the room was comped and they gave you money to play with. IMO, negative people are "always" negative; positive or practical people can give an honest assessment of a property and the services it provides. Can't wait to check it out myself in November...MK
