I seem to recall that colleges prefer social or academic clubs like the volunteer club and science club more than activity clubs like the ski club or mountain biking club.
More important than what colleges would like, what do YOU like to do? I guess that a gambling club woulnd't go over too well, so I don't know what suggestions you'll get from a Vegas board. smile.gif
Seriously, what are your talents and interests? I can tell you the clubs that I was in, but if it's something boring and horrible to you, why get involved in it? The point of the clubs is to have a good time and learn a little something. Don't do it just to do it.. think of something you enjoy first.

yea exactly, but you know how high school kids are... yea i thought of all these, but a club is only as good as the people that participate. I have thought of these biology or math clubs and history clubs, but i have asked about 10-12 people and NONE of them has interest or wants to join. That is why this is giving me so much trouble. I must find something that is catchy and amusing so the club will stay alive and active. Any other ideas?? What do you guys think about a fashion club or a dead poets society club? that movie is pretty cool, but it is also on the boring list, according to the people i asked. NEVER KNEW IT TAKES THIS LONG TO THINK OF A NAME AND CLUB TOPIC!!!!

I was never one that was "into" clubs but what about a science fiction club (since Star Wars is hot) or a book club, or a movie club, or a mystery club, or an "extreme" something club (hiking/biking/sports fan). Anyway - good luck!

Did you ask them what they *would* be interested in? I seem to recall that it's hard to get a teenager interested in much. :D hee hee.
Lvstoplay had some good ideas. What about some socially conscious clubs like recycling or pollution sort of thing. If you're in an urban area, you can clean up a park or empty lot or something.. or institute a recycling program at school or in the community.
I love the idea of a movie club. I'd have joined that one if we had it in my school. smile.gif

LOL! I don't think the porno thing is a good idea for a transcript. But I bet it would be a popular club. :D
I belonged to a movie club after high school. It was through a local theater. We had mini-film festivals, etc. Mostly we'd watch a movie and then sit around and eat and talk about it afterwards. Once we had a director join us and talk about the film with us.
You can see a collection of classic westerns, or new sci fi films. You could take a bunch of these "earth in the future" movies like AI, the new Tom Cruise movie, Gattica, etc and talk about the differences in how they portray the future and how accurate you think they are. Or do something like see the new DeNiro/Robin Williams film Insomnia and then compare it to the Norweigin film from a few years ago that it was based on. It's also called Insomnia.
Mostly it's an excuse to watch movies and eat pizza. smile.gif

One of the clubs at our school is called the Key Club. It is a service oriented club and works in conjunction with the businesses in the community to provide whatever someone less fortunate in the community might need. ex. : food at holidays, doing chores for the elderly, etc.
This is a very popular club at school and not only does it help the community, it also helps our students earn "service credit hours" which they need for graduation. Hope this helps!!! smile.gif

The Key Club is very active in our community as well as it's female counterpart, the Altrusa Club. Both very good ideals serving both students and the community at large!
