We live about 2.5 hrs from the casinos at Shreveport and are thinking about going next month for our anniversary. I have been once a long time ago and stayed about two hrs. My family and I were just passing through. Brandy has never been and we are having some serious LV withdrawls. We are thinking about making a weekend out of it but need some advice on where to stay, gamble and maybe anything else thats worth doing. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I haven't stayed in one of the new Casino hotels. Heard they are nice, but expensive. I always stay in the area (we go mainly for the Horse races) and visit the casinos at night. I will tell you, the Hollywood Casino is my favorite. The others are very narrow (they all have to be boats)and crowded. The Hollywood is boat, but the way it's designed is much more open. No comparison. It's fun for a few hours, but no substitute for Vegas. Also usually have high minimums on weekends.

We go to Shreveport every Memorial Day weekend (except this one :( ) for the annual Mudbug Festival. Since the festival is so close to Harrah's and the new Hollywood casino we usually have to stop in. We sometimes take the shuttles to the other casinos too. We have never stayed at any of the casinos.

1) Hollywood - this is my favorite for the same reason as Comeoutroll listed

2) Harrah's - I always seem to win here

3) Horshoe - This one and Hollywood remind me the most of Vegas

the other two (I think it is only two more) are so smokey I don't like to stay there very long.

It is nice when you are visiting Shreveport to stop in. My husband would like to go there for a weekend to just gamble. I think that we would have to have a nice room and some other things lined up or we would lose our shirts in the casinos if we stayed in there that long smile.gif
