In the past we have tried to figure out how the casinos rated craps players. Because this is a subjective formula that no one at any of the casinos will share we continue to give the Excalibur most of our craps play, even with only having double odds. We have found that if we make it a point to touch base with the pit boss before and after each session this keeps them on their toes regarding our play, they know we are keeping track, so they had better.

The following is an idea of what the Excalibur offers in comp dollars for their craps players. Our trip this week (2 days) consisted of three sessions for a total of 11 hours, average bet $61, total comp dollars earned $194.

In addition to the comp dollars earned we are sent room deals on a regular basis, the most recent was for two free nights available May – July, including weekends. Others have included buy 1 get 1 free and an upgrade to a Jacuzzi room.

The nice thing about the One Club is that comp dollars can be used at any of the participating casinos; Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, Monte Carlo, Circus Circus and Slots-A-Fun. They also have a couple in Laughlin and one in MS.

It would be nice to compare the different casinos rating of craps players. If anyone else keeps track and is willing to share it would be greatly appreciated. Please just provide information regarding your craps play.

PS - I'm still working on the trip report and hope to post tomorrow or Tuesday. Our trip was excellent and even included a couple shows, Blue Man Group and "X".

Not that I'm an expert but here's what I know about dice comps. No house in LV counts your odds bets (some in Miss. actually do). Most count everything else. Some casinos will not count full spread on place bets. In other words, a $30 6&8 is counted as $30 in play and not $60 (what a rip-off!). I think the Mirage used to have that policy.

Comps ratings for craps is more "all over the board" than any game. I do know they seem to pay more attention to buy-in. I try to always buy-in for at least $500. I've heard that Harrahs and IP both actually use buy-in as part of your comps rating...probably other houses do the same.

Also, it's very important to hold out tipping until you see the pit critter comming by to record your betting. That way, he'll notice the toke. These are management people and the more you tip, the happier their employees. Bet rating is such a subjective thing, you want them to know you're a good guy. For that reason, it's smart to make friends with them and call them by name.

After I color up, I sometimes ask them what rating they're showing on me. I usually play at a consistant level of $75-$100 but when I've asked, I've gotten swings from $50-$150.

Here's my main idea on comps: I want to play at a level that will get me basic RFB on the strip. I want my room comped for a 3-4 night trip and buffet/coffee shop meals comped. But I don't want to play any stronger than that. If I want a gormet meal, I'll pay for it myself.

You can get the same comps at Orleans

Sorry, I cut myself off...you can get the same comps ant Orleans and other off strip and downtown casinos with lower betting. If it weren't for my wife wanting to stay on the strip, I'd be at one of those places and betting less.

Its amazing how players (including me) can get suckered in to playing for comps...which is a stupid thing to do.

I don't know as much about comps as a lot of others on the board do, but I've heard the the park place casinos include odds, but at a lesser weight. The Stardust does as well. I also think Mandalay Corp, at least the ones in Laughlin, take odds into consideration if they are left on the table.
