Hello all. I've got a couple of questions before my trip in a week. Feel free to answer them at your leisure. (I could have probably searched for the answers but I'm at work so I need to be as nonchalant <sp?> as possible.)

1. If I were to go to a 2-4 Hold-em table, what would be the bare minimum that you'd want to buy in for? I'm sure there are people that buy in for $20 at a time or something like that. Is it possible to get away with $50 or $100 at a 2-4 game? I play enough home games and feel I'm solid enough to hold my own, but I'm not ready to step up to the higher limit games unless I have some luck early on in Vegas.

2. How does the betting structure work for limit games. Please use 2-4 as an example. I'm thinking its $1 small blind and $2 big blind? After that, I'm screwed.

3. We're staying downtown at the Plaza. I know they've got a supposedly revamped poker room, but I'm interested in trying out the Nugget's new room. Do they offer 2-4 games or even N.L. tourneys for smaller buy in amounts?

I'm all ears, as this will be my first poker experience in Vegas. Typically I'm a Beer, BJ (the game) ;) , and Craps guy. This should be fun......

I'd buy in for $100. If you get a big hand start to finish, 12 big bets = $48. You're right on the blinds, although the MC 2/4 game skips the dollar small blind. Good luck, start tight, and have fun!

I think the Nugget has a 2-4 game going.

They also have daily tournaments at 11am. Buy in is $33 and rebuys are $20. First hour is limit, rest is no-limit.

If you a beginner, check out the Monte Carlo room. They always have a 2-4 game going, and its the most laid back, beginner friendly room I've seen in Vegas.

Gnarly,

As for #2, I can help you there. In a 2-4 game, you will have small blind of $1 and big blind of $2. Starting to the left of the big blind, that person will have to bet at least $2 to play that hand. They can also raise to $4. After the flop, the small blind (if still in the hand) goes first (left of the dealer) and can bet $2 or check. After the turn and the river, minimum bet is $4. I think the limit on raises is 3 but this could vary by poker room.

Hope this helps. If I got this wrong, please someone correct me.

Good Luck.

Bob
