Where is the best place to go, either on the strip or Fremont, for a beginner at craps. I've heard everyone talk so much about it of late that I can't wait to give it a go.

Where are you staying? Lots of the casinos have craps lessons in the mornings. Some even let you buy in with some cheap chips and practice with real money after the lesson. Dan and I had a fun lesson at Excalibur, but call your hotel and ask what they have available.

I don't know about a lesson, but the guys at the Trop really showed me what to do. Great crew way back then, and very personable.

I have heard that the MGM has good lessons, but a lot of casinos have teachers on the hour for most games. Just depends on where you are I guess.

You will find the "Friendliest" and most helpful dealers on Freemont, as well as the cheapest games. You wont find many craps tables under $5 on the strip (Sahara is an exception). Basically anywhere on Freemont street is good EXCEPT the FREEMONT Casino which was $5 dollar and only 2X odds

I recommend Binions or Sahara they are 3 Dollar tables and have good Odds. Binions is the BEST as they offer 5X odds on everything for pass bets UNDER 5 and 10X odds and all best 5 and over.

We are staying 2 nights at Treasure Island and 2 nights at Bellagio (THANK YOU WAGERWORKS!!!). We are also getting the city bus pass so are willing to go anywhere. We plan on doing a lot of traveling up and down the strip while we are there.

cterral,

If you are staying at T.I., there is a place right across the street called Casino Royale that has a $2 "mini-craps" table. It's Perfect for a beginner because it has seats like a black jack table, and you have to be seated to play, which means you will not have to deal with a jammed table. Just sit down and tell the dealer you are learning, and to please keep an eye on you. Of course, the best way to make a dealer be extra friendly toward you is to tip him/her. I usually put a dollar on the hardway for the dealer if the point is an even number, but you can also just ask him what he would like you to bet for him.

I really recomend Casino Royale....nice low stakes, limited people at the table (once you get good at craps you'll actually like the crowded tables better), and it's right across the street from where you are staying.

Good Luck!!

T.

LV Terry-
Thanks so much! Casino Royale is now on my "must see and do" list. We have a group of four going so hopefully we can monopolize a table and learn at a bit slower pace.
June can't get here fast enough!! :D

Casino Royale also has a free frozen margarita (one a day, out of state license required :D ) and occasionally has good beer bargains at the bar ($1 Becks, etc) in case you just want to hang out and aren't getting free drinks while gambling....
