place bets on craps tables

How do the cheap $1 and $2 tables pay off place bets? Here in upstate new york no coins or chips valued less than $1.00 so a place six or eight for less than $6.00 in a bad bet uneven pay off. Anyone know what I mean. :confused:

I've played on some downtown tables that have low minimums. They have $.50 chips so they have more payoff options. You still want to place your bet so they can pay you, but the .50 chips allow you to place a smaller bet. I think I may have even seen some place paying off with a quarter, but I can't remember where.

I've played at lower minimum tables and they paid off the odd number payouts ($3.50 for example) with 3 one dollar chips and a half dollar coin......
