Where can I buy and how much will I spend for "vegas style" poker chips? Want to buy about 100pcs. each pennies, nickels and 50pcs. quarters.
Have a craps layout at home for my pool table but the drugstore (thin)poker chips just don't feel right.

I've got the hookup! We bought nice clay chips two years ago...makes a World of difference! The way we did it, everyone threw in $20, which was half the price of the chips...I paid the other half, and the chips are mine (I just bring them to all the games).

I bought ours in Vegas (of course) at The Gamblers General Store. This place is amazing. So much cool stuff, it will make your head spin. It is located downtown....they have all kinds of chips, with different quality levels. You can pick out the colors you want...we just use a certain color to mean a certain denomination, but you can have the amount printed on the chip for a fee. (we didn't in case we change the value of the chips some day) I also bought a nice case to put them in that also has a slot for two decks of cards. Very cool.

Here is the web page: http://www.ggss.com

If you are in LV, definitely check it out. They have used decks of cards from what seems like every casino...very cool to play with at home. They even have cards from some of the old casinos that don't exist.

Let me know if you have any questions I might be able to answer. Two years later, we are still thrilled with our chips.

Ditto! Ditto! I love the General Store. They have EVERYTHING there. I want to get some clay chips, but Dan always finds a reason not to (like the fact that we don't play cards at home, but I think he's just nitpicking!) :D

I couldn't get that link to work, but here's the one I have for them http://www.gamblersgeneralstore.com/

They're on Main Street right after the curve by Stratosphere and before you get to downtown.

Shop around carefully. I have seen "fabulous Las Vegas" clay chips (the top hat & cane brand with a nice picture)vary in price from $.35 each to $.68. I went on to Yahoo and did a search on "poker chip". I also looked on EBay. Most of the chip sets on EBay were dealers or retail stores, but it is a good way to make contact and go to their web sites.
