Blackjack- you are dealt two nines, the dealer is showing a ten- do you split? Not sure what the "book" says, but I have had success the few times I have been in this situation....

If you're playing Basic Strategy which is all I play, then you should stand with two nines against a dealer's 10.

BTW, there's a great web site (Blackjack Basic Strategy Chart Maker) that will give you color Basic Strategy charts for pretty much any condition, including the number of decks used. Here's the web site:

You may win splitting nines, but you have to deal with all debri thrown at you from the other people sitting at your table! hahahaa!

I strongly agree with above...you may buck the odds once and awhile, but in the long haul the odds are against you.

Thanks for the site, cruiser...I was very surprised to see you should split nines with dealer showing 7, 10, Ace, but NOT if dealer has 8 or 9.

You've got it backwards... The Basic Strategy charts (for most playing conditions) shows that when you have a pair of 9's, you Split them if the dealer has a up card of 2,3,4,5,6,8, or 9 and you Stand if the dealer's up card is 7, 10, or ACE.

You're correct, Cruiser....I just typed it backwards.
