I'm wondering if someone could tell me a good tour company to take the hoover dam tour with.Ive been checking the internet and found alot of deals for around $40per cpl that serve lunch and pick up and drop odff at hotel. But i also read some horror stories about the buses being very hot and breaking down .So if someone could let me know if they had a good tour and with who that would be great. Also is it better to buy in advance offline or can i get the same deal thier.
Thank you
Joe

I took the express tour (noon to 6PM) after hearing from someone who had taken it the day before. I just needed to get off my feet for a bit. I used Grey Lines. They pick you up at the hotel. The bus driver was snarly and uncaring and did his job of getting everyone to HQ where where we were hoarded into several buses to go to the Ocean Spray Factory and on to the dam.
Once we got on our bus the driver was super! Very interesting and friendly......a native of Baltimore who moved to LV. I couldn't imagine a visit to a dam to be more than ok but it was Fabulous as I'm sure you heard from others who may have spoken about the trip. The only problem was an inconsiderate couple who did not get back to the bus at the appointed time causing the bus to be late returning to LV. I didn't care but many people had show tickets and were going to be late or miss the shows; they were ripping and I don't blame them. Don't time anything on a tour too closely in case of such an incident or mechanical problems etc. The bus was comfortable, cool and overall it was a good trip.

I took another tour, through another company (JJJ), but that was exactly the same as our experience, including the inconsiderate couple that found a VP machine and kept 30ish other people waiting
Hi!
You might want to consider renting a car for the day, instead of taking the bus. We just returned from a visit to Vegas, and rented a car for the first time out there. We paid $60.00, including taxes, but there were smaller cars with cheaper rates. The Hoover Dam isn't very far from the strip. We rented around 9:00 am, and stayed out until after midnight. It was a great day. Went everywhere from the Liberace museum, to Hoover Dam, to Laughlin, to downtown, to off strip hotels that are a little harder to walk to, like the Hard Rock. Since we rented right at our hotel, when we returned, we just parked at Valet parking and they took care of the rental from there.

Thanks for the idea! I think I will check into a daily car rental smile.gif
