A friend of mine and her husband are going to be in Vegas on Feb. 24th, and she asked me about inexpensive shows in Vegas. So, for all of you Vegas buffs, in your opinion, what is the top three shows a couple can go see for less than $100 total? Of course, if two for ones are out there, then by all means let me know. I mentioned to her Clint Holmes and Scintas, but now they don't offer two for ones anymore (at least at that time in Feb.) and they are a little more than $100 for a couple. Just curious as to what everyone thinks. Thanks for all of your input!! smile.gif

Hi: here's Frugal Jim's Plan:

#3. See Stars of the Strip at Lady Luck at 2 or 3:30PMmonday to Friday--14.95 (coupons available all over for price of a drink I think 5.95) It is a good value.

#2. See The Magic of Rick Thomas at the Tropicana Mon-thusday at 2 or 4PM. Tickets are 16.95 and 21.95. This is a class act and coupons and discounts are all over.

#1. Go have a nice buffet and see whatever big show you want and don't worry about the price. you've saved enough with these other shows to pay for it and haven't sacrificed quality either.

Only my opinion, keep in mind!

A friend/coworker of mine who has been to Vegas more times than I can count has seen this show at least 4 times and recommends it. I was in Vegas in January and saw tons of the coupons that Jimbo mentioned.

Any other suggestions from anybody? They are staying on the strip (but have no car, so getting to downtown may be a bit of an inconvenience). Any deals out there? Where can they get these magazines/special deals at? They are flying in, so are these dicount mags in the airport? Help me out guys with your favorite inexpensive shows (<$100 for a couple). Thanks Much!! smile.gif

Hi:
The magazines (and I think that there are 3 or 4 main ones) are everywhere. You might find them at the airport, at the shuttle windows, on the shuttle bus or at the hotel lobby.
THese shows are all on the strip or downtown. downtown is easy to get to, on any strip bus #301 or #302. Fair is $2.00 (exact change). These shows are long time standards and often praised here although there may be others and other opinions.

Here are some options I have found when we were there this past week (1/28-1/30)
1. Bottoms Up at the Flamingo. We seen it on a Tuesday and it is half price day, 7 dollors a person, including drink. Oh, and its the only topless show in the afternoon in vegas. the show was pretty good, a comedy mostly. If your offended easy, dont see it, some of it is "adult" orienated.
2. you can go to some of the "welcome centers" for free show tickets, but you must buy drinks at the show for them to be good.
3. if money is a real concern, listen to the timeshare people for a couple hours, they will give you some cash, some show tickets and a meal.

we were going to do the time share people but wife is not 21, so they would not talk to us.

Have your friends try the Mac King Comedy show at Harrahs. It is a reasonably priced afternoon magic show that was very funny. Think the regular price was $14.95 p.p. but my wife joined Harrahs slots club and received 2 free tix(1 drink min.) to the show.( worth looking into)
She is NOT a big magic lover, however she did laugh her butt off at the comedic aspect of the show. I joined the slots club after the show and received a free harrahs/mac king coffee mug.
It's not a big time splashy show, but its well worth the money and your only spending an hour or so during the day.
You cant gamble all day, or can you??
PS harrahs slots were pretty good to both my wife and I.

Legends in Concert at the Imperial Palace. This is a great show and I think the tickets are 30.00 and 40.00. You can always pick up tickets on the day of the show. This is one of the better values on the strip in my opinion.

OH, you might be able to get free tickets to something at the Tropicana (on their free spin wheel). I think it is their magician, but I honestly can't remember.

I saw Legends a few years ago and really liked it. They have different acts all the time so you aren't likely to see the same people either which is nice (if you go to the same show a few times). I saw La Cage a couple times and it was exactly the same several years apart.

Hi!
We take everyone to the Viva Las Vegas show, in the afternoon, at the Stratosphere. A fun thing to do is to have lunch at Roxy's Diner, also at the Strat, where they have a 50s theme, and the waiters and waitresses sing and dance every 10 minutes or so, during your meal. Then go to the showroom for a Las Vegas Review. Most of those little books have a coupon good for "free" admission with the purchase of a drink.....last time I was there, the drink (I had soda) was about 7 dollars! The show is a lot of fun, has several lovely showgirls in wonderful costumes....covered....a young lady singer, who is very good, a handsome young man singer, also very good, an hysterical comedian, and someone who gave a gambling lesson. This show is good for all ages......my mid 80 year old Mom and her older friends loved it, my 12 year old granddaughter also loved it........and there are truly all ages there. I think kids have to be 7 to get in. I think the show is at 2 and 4 in the afternoon, and lunch and the show make for a nice afternoon. If they wish, your friends could go up in the tower and ride the rollercoaster at t he top of the Strat, or ride the Big Shot......or even just look around, and perhaps gamble a bit in the casino.
The Stratosphere is at the north end of the Strip, but a trolley runs all up and down the Strip, as well as cabs, buses, etc. It would be a very long walk from anywhere other than the Sahara, or maybe Circus Circus, but the Trolley is fun, if slow, and turns around right at the the Strat.
Hope your friends have a good time....

Ironically, aztoad, I plan to be in town at the time your friends will be there, so since I've been researching the same entertainment calendar I have some advice:

First off, thanks to this board's friendly administrator, Sonya, I can tell you there are some terrific coupons for shows at Harrah's Hotel for $11 per ticket. I read good things about Skintight and Clint Holmes, and at $11 per ticket it would be a tremendous savings. One of the comedians scheduled to perform at the Improv Club while your friends are there is named Adam Ferrara, who plays one of the detectives on the ABC series "The Job", and I'm looking forward to seeing him as well. Here is the link to the coupon Sonya provided:

http://sdm0.com/index.cfm?n16s454c1075925t226e3063098o589

If that doesn't work, you can find it on the message board under Hotel Offers and Discounts/Harrah's Newsletter.

I would echo the thoughts of others who liked Stars On The Strip and The Mac King Comedy Show (you may be able to find a coupon offering admission for the price of a $5 drink - look for an employee in a blue blazer hanging around the box office, its probably the best afternoon show in town).

Have your friends also get a copy of the NEON, which is the entertainment section of the Friday edition of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. It's also sold separately in boxes apparently found near Circus Circus and Stratosphere. There are coupons found here that only locals are meant to see - some require a Nevada ID to use, others don't.

One of my favorite shows to see is "The Rat Pack Is Back", which some find stealing but I find a worthy tribute. I'm a thirty-something who never caught them at the Sands, so I figure this is about as good as it'll get, and I've seen it three times. The NEON has had coupons that would bring the show down to about $25 per person, and I'd recommend greasing the Maitre'd who seats your friends a little more for a good seat - for me its the best bang for the buck show going.

Hope that helps, and best of times.

yes, Adam Ferrara is hilarious. He's a regular guest on a radio show I listen to. He is a must see.

Thanks for all the posts guys. I gave her a couple of suggestions before she left, and I don't think she took any of them!! Antway, love the posts and the helpful info. I just need to find a way to get back to LV soon!
