The shows that I have seen mentioned the most are 'O', Mystere and 'Blue Man Group'.

Are these all very different or are they similar, therefore, only worth choosing to see one of them, rather than all of them?

I am especially thinking about 'O' and 'Mystere'. As they are both from Cirque de Soliel is is worth doing them both?

Also EFX is mentioned, what is this all about and is it worth going to?

We will have plenty of time to do all these things, but dont want to see more than one show if it is along the same lines as something else we are going to. Also,as the prices are pretty high for some of these, dont want to waste money either.

What do you suggest? Want to do everything that is worthwhile as I don't know if we would ever go back to Vegas again. This may be a once in a lifetime trip - so cant miss out !!

Blue Man Group isn't like anything else on the planet.. or any other planet. :D

Mystere and O are both Cirque shows and are similar in that they are Cirque shows.. but they have a different theme. I would only see one of them and save my show money for another different show.

EFX is an extravaganza with special effects and singing and dancing and firebreathing dragons and ufo's and.. well.. you sort of have to see it. smile.gif

I am usually only good for one show per trip, so maybe I shouldn't comment, but if it were me, I'd really split it up. I'd see Blue Man Group. Maybe Lance Burton for some magic. I'd see Mystere and maybe a smaller show. Maybe even a showgirl type show like Jubilee or Folies Bergere. There are lots of shows to see and certainly something for every different mood.

Go to http://www.travel2vegas.com/travelplanning.html and click on Show Reservations. Enter your travel dates and hit enter. It will give you a list of shows and prices. If you click on the show title, you can see a picture and description and some of them have a little extra (music, video) for you to help. Should help give you an idea of what the show is all about and what's available in the different price ranges.

Sonya:
I got a Las Vegas newsletter (email) I think from Billme listing the 5 best shows in LV and listed EFX as one of the worst. I enjoyed EFX with Tommy Tunes and was going to see Rick Springfield with my daughter in April.I have read that it is the best version yet.
Bill freaked me out saying that his big objection is that Rick Springfield doesn't even sing live that it is recorded and he lip synchs!!!! I don't want to spend $160 bucks to see someone lip synch. I lost the newsletter; do you happen to have it?

Here you go, if there's any more info you want from the newsletter, let me know!

THE FIVE WORST
The five worst production shows in Las Vegas are
listed in alphabetical order as I would
suggest you do not go to any of them!

Greek Isles Casino - Dr. Naughty.
MGM Grand - EFX with Rick Springfield.
New York-New York - Lord of the Dance.
Sahara - Steve Wyrick.
Stardust - Wayne Newton.

Lip-synching by Rick Springfield and acoustically enhanced
tap-dancingat Lord of the Dance are not acceptable at the
prices they charge for tickets. Wayne Newton's continual
throat problems, with no refund of tickets policy, was also
noted. The Steve Wyrick show still has not performed some
of the illusions promised and the Dr. Naughty show at the
Greek Isles Casino (formerly the Debbie Reynolds Casino) for
$45 admission was a disappointment.

All the rest of the shows, not mentioned above, fall into
the large category of "in between the best and the worst".

;) ;)

Jim -

I had heard that about Tommy Tune, but I haven't heard that about Rick Springfield. All the reports I've gotten about the show with Rick have been favorable. Don't know what to tell you.

You know that everyone has different opinions. smile.gif I checked at RateVegas.com and saw 3 reviews. One says that he's not impressed with things that blow up (okay. smile.gif ) and one that loved it. Another hated it and says that Rick Springfield was lipsynching and not even playing the guitar.

I think that if you enjoyed it with Tommy Tune, you'll probably enjoy it with Rick Springfield. If you didn't like the style of the show, you won't like it with a new lead performer. smile.gif

You could always win tickets to EFX off of wager works and save that money. ;)

Does Rick Springfield really lip-sync to the songs in the EFX show? EEEEK??? I hope not! Well even if he does, it is an excellent show to see. And like it has been mentioned before, you can get free tickets for EFX from http://www.wagerworks.com/. I did it and got really good seats.

Prior to your trip, how far in advance did you book the show?

...and...

Could you post the number at MGM that you used to book it?

This may seem like an odd question, but when I pull up the wagerworks site, the font is so tiny, and everything so small I can't even read it to play the games..and no I'm not THAT old! *G* Does anybody else have that problem?

It seems that you're not, "seeing things".

I noticed a small green dot located at the top right corner of each page. If I click on the dot the page says,"loadIndicator.traceStats: 162931: 162931" and six green squares appear. This does not appear if the browser is set at, "full screen". Odd.

I booked it on a Wednesday morning for the same week - Friday night and got tickets. Before I committed to getting those tickets from WagerWorks, I also called the MGM to make sure they actually had seats available for the only show I'd be able to go to.

I don't have the number anymore as I got rid of the paper it is on. You can always check out the MGM Grand website for their box office number, it isn't too hard to find.

Jules...Thanks for the info.

I could not find the number on the MGM Grand website, however I finally received my email confirmation from WagerWorks.

Should anyone else need to request availability before redeeming their prize points, the number is, 800 398 1245.

SONYA!! I love your taste in shows already. I have been to the Blue Man Group 3 times in Vegas and I love them. I just need to get away from it and try something else for a change. But it is so hard because I know that is the kind of show I like and won't waste my money.
