My boyfriend and I will be spending a day with his nieces (ages 10 and 12) during the Presidents' Day weekend (our first trip to Vegas.) His nieces have been living in Vegas for a few months, but have never experienced any of the city's attractions.

Circus Circus' Adventuredome is quite the obvious choice although we know Vegas has much more to offer. It seems that each of the major properties have some type of family attraction to entertain the kids.

Location won't be a problem since we're renting a car, but we're concentrating our efforts on the strip as our hotel (The California) is downtown.

We'll only have two days with the girls, so what should we skip and what must we see and do?

Alohagirl:
Your may hear from 15 people and get 15 different answers but I will make a suggestion or two. What we think kids would enjoy and what kids will enjoy may be totally different. do some research online and get a book on Las Vegas. My favorite for adults is "The Unoffical Guide To Las Vegas" by Bob Sehlinger. I also found one called "Las Vegas With Kids" that was great (I bought if for me).
Make a list, give the books and the list to the girls and get them involved; I think the results will be better and probably surprise you! I would take them to some of the regular sites like the battle at Treasure Island, the Statues that are animated at Caeser's Palace etc. If they like Star Trek, they may enjoy the experience at the Hilton. I believe that Excaliber and Hilton have virtual reality rides or experiences. Circus circus has the adventure dome.
I think it will be more meaningful and fun for all if you involve the girls and they will appreciate that too. Check wilh billhere or whatever that service is, there are a lot of discounts and 2 for 1 coupons available for these things and also look through those free enteretainment magazines you get in the hotel lobbies for additional offers and discounts. I would alos take them to see a show like Viva Las Vegas at the Stratosphere (2& 4 pm Mon-sat)$10.00 but coupons make it free or little cost, or Rich James at the Tropicana (Mon-Thurs 2&4PM) 16.95 and 21.95....coupons and discounts available all over too. Both are well worth it and what would a day in LV be without a show?

hope I gave you a couple of ideas at least!

You took the words right out of my mouth, Jim. You even gave my link. I may be out of a job here soon. :D

I also came across the following site http://www.vegas.com/attractions/ which lists a variety of attractions at each property.

We'll just have to see where the day takes us, and hope that we don't run out of energy...or money. http://www.minorannoyance.net/~spin/Smilies/kao/msroom/m-moji.gif
