View Full Version : Best of Fremont St Experience (FSE)?
Okay, looking for advice on how best to
enjoy FSE. Never been downtown after
dark. Wander around? What's it like?
Places to stand or sit? In or near
casino-hotels?
Anything about it that is a hassle or
to be avoided?
Wondering what to expect on late Nov./
early Dec. weekend nights.

The shows run on the hour after dark every hour. There are some restaurents that offer a view but most people just stop and look up from the sidewalks. The shows last ten minutes and differ every hour.
There are sometimes bands playing and sometimes street musicians and magicians as well as the retail carts and artisans.
While is isn't the 8th wonder of the world, it is a must see.

Jim's right. The shows are every hour on the hour. The best place to watch is from the street. I like to be on one end or the other, but Dan likes to watch from in front of Binion's in the middle.
There are a bunch of casinos to keep you busy for the 45 minutes between shows, but there are other things to do. You can spend that much time just people watching, but there are also kiosks with gifts, the neon museum at the far end of the street (by the big red parking garage.. opposite end from the Plaza), 99 cent shrimp cocktail at Golden Gate. Lots to do and see. http://www.travel2vegas.com/ubb/smile.gif
Leave yourself at least 90 minutes to be able to see two shows.
Enjoy!

Fremont Street is a MUST DO in my opinion. Everything is on a more human scale than "the strip". The length of FSE is about the same length as Bellagio, Caesar's or Venetian, so you can easily bounce from casino to casino without having to put on jogging shoes. The casinos are a bit more cramped and obviously smaller than on the strip, but the table limits are lower so it's a good place to learn a new game.
During the week and day, the bus is a good way to get there and back. Beware that on Friday and Saturday evening/night the bus can take 2-3 hours to get from Fremont to Luxor/Mandalay Bay. During busy times, take a cab. They will take side street and get you there in 1/2 hour tops. The buss is $2 per person and a cab from Treasure Island is $6-8 (without tip) so if there are several people in your group the cab turns out to be a good deal.
