I am staying at the Flamingo Las Vegas in a couple of months. I am going august 8-14 looking for advice and tips if any please do tell.
I stayed at the Mirage last year and had the worst time staff was very rude and house cleaning was rude and most of the time not to be found.
Thank you for your help on everything.

Just came back from the Flamingo (May 29th - Jun2nd). Found staff to be pretty nice, nice room (10th floor) - no real view. My only real tip:
DO NOT EAT at the FLAMINGO Buffet. There was nothing delicious about it!!

Just returned from the Flamingo yesterday.
Great location, terrific pools (must be at pool by 9 A.M. to get a chair), really nice landscaped property, hotel staff very friendly from front desk to cleaning staff, if you need anything from the front desk go early morning or late evening, daytime goodluck it is lines up. Rooms okay, older furnishings, small bathroom but very clean and comfortable. We checked in at the airport at the Caesar's booth, took five minutes and they were very accommodating trying to fill your request and what you want, the line up at the hotel must have been an hour long, so I do not think they would be as accommodating as the airport. Asked for a floor above 19, and we got a room on floor 24, #24023 in which had a terrific view of the pool, gardens and mountains. The rooms on the other side of the hall (even numbers 24024, 026 and up) would have a terrific view of the Belangio fountains and strip. The elevator area have floor to ceiling windows as well in which you can go and watch the five minute fountain show, but you have to go and stand in front of Bellagio hotel and see them for real with the music. Our room was only a couple of doors away from the elevator, in which took you down to a lovely cafe, great for morning coffee or eats, a nice bar with an outside patio, and only a couple of minute walk along the path to the pool, in which was nice not to have to walk through the casino or restaurant area with bathing suits on.
Drinks are very expensive at the pool, so we walked to the corner store, about a two minute walk (out the side entrance where the shuttle drops you off) and bought an 18 of beer 15.99, a bottle of liquor and pop, and put them on ice in the room, for around the pool in the day, another advantage to being in this tower and close to the pools. Security at the big pool only checks your keys, but the small middle pool security checked your key and bags, my son walked into both pool areas all week carrying a beer in his hand, and they did not say anything. Margaritaville is a fun spot, and as another writer pointed out the buffet at the Flamingo is not all that great. If your hungry at night from 11 pm to 5 am they have steak and eggs for 5.95, or in the evening a prime rib dinner for 9.95, you can even get take out pizza's for $10.00 or turkey subs that include a bag of chips for $6.00. The large fruit or yogurt cups are great for 2.75. Shuttle to and from the airport was very good. At check-in they offer shuttle service but we did not take it, we walked out the first exit after checking in, paid one way 4.75 per person at the first booth, walked across the road got on the shuttle and it took 15 minutes to get to the Flamingo. Going back to the airport, shuttles leave every half hour from the same place you are dropped off, and you can pay 4.75 cash to the driver, took 15 minutes to get back to the airport. We arrived Vegas at 1:00 P.M. and left the hotel at 9:30 A.M. for a noon flight in which gave us plenty of time, takes about a little over an hour to get checked in, clear security, and get to the departure gates. If you have any more questions, I will be happy to answer them. Have a great time.

Will be staying at Flamingo in July for first time. Are there different towers or rooms/areas of hotel that we should request (newer/refurbished/better view, etc)? Thanks for any tips along this line.

MT I am staying there for the first time myself so far from what i understand is ask for a room on the 19th floor or higher.
The other thing is try the $20 trick and ask for a mini suite I here it works. graemlins/beerchug.gif

....
I tried the brunch buffet at Flamingo my first full day in Vegas, and thought it was fine. Nothing nasty about it, and easily worth the price.
Flamingo is not my favorite hotel, and not in my favorite location, but it has its benefits. In particular, you can find gaming tables with low minimum bets, a key factor in staying on budget. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Thanks 5Aces. The tip about 19th or above is the sort of info I'm looking for. Anyone else have anything to offer?

My g/f and I stayed at the Flamingo 2 yrs ago when we went in July as well and had a great view. I think we were on the 27th floor and we were facing Paris with the Bellagio on our right so we had a perfect place to watch the fountains, just pulled the sofa up to the window and had a few drinks. I also loved that it was easy to get out of the hotel without having to walk 10 miles through the casino if we didn't want to.
We'll be in Vegas in July too..have a great trip.
