Hi everyone! I was searching around the web and just found pricing for Westward Ho 4/23-25 for $30.60/night and $40.60 for Friday night. Wow! Has anyone ever stayed there? What is it like?

I would put it on one of the lower tiers. It's an older, motel style property with a pretty low roller casino at the north end of the Strip.

Now that's not altogether a bad thing. :D Lots of people love Westward Ho. They give away lots of free rooms, free food, free tournaments, etc. I find the casino to be a little "low end" for my tastes (I like Mandalay Bay and Aladdin and Mirage, etc) but I know a lot of people like to low roll there.

I would say that there are about 4 tiers of hotels on the strip. You've got your four seasons and bellagio and venetian at the top, some 2nd tier properties like Mirage, Monte Carlo, TI, Bally's and Paris, etc. Then you've got your Excalibur and Barbary Coast.. then those I wouldn't consider staying in like the Oasis and Glass Pool Inn (Rule of thumb is that if you see the motel on Cops, you don't want to stay there smile.gif ) Anyway.. I'd put Westward Ho on that 3rd tier. Along the lines of the Garden Rooms at Tropicana or the motel style rooms that used to be at Stardust or maybe the Manor Rooms at Circus Circus.

Does that help? I certainly don't mean to offend anyone who stays at the Ho. I know a lot of people who really like it, but it's like the Maxim to me. I think that you need to be fully informed before you go. If you're just looking for a cheap place to shower and sleep, the Ho is it. If you're looking for a place on the Strip where you can play nickels and be proud of it, the Ho is your place. If you want a hotdog for under a buck.. you're home. smile.gif But it's not Bellagio for sure. smile.gif

the food is cheap. my wife ate there and got sick, but you gotta love the drinks (alcohol). they are not skimpy on that, lol. keep in mind this place is so big they got a shuttle that takes you from the front to your room. BIG motel.

I have never stayed there, but I have to agree with Sonya about the feel of the casino. I am not a high dollar player, but it was just too cheap for me. When going cheap (financially challenged)we have gotten much better service at the downtown casinos, Boardwalk, or Casino Royale. Many of the people at the Ho look like they have lost everything and are playing the last $2 of their grocery money.

For example: My wife and I stopped in to give the place a try after playing at Riviera. We each started playing nickel slots (Money to Burn for Kelly, and my new favorite Austin Powers). The cocktail waitress said she could not bring me a bottled beer. She looked at the machine and said that I had to be playing at least .50 per roll to get a bottle. She returned with a juice glass of flat draft beer. Didn't even bother to smile. And all this in a place with horribly stained carpets, a real smokey atmosphere and of the .25 and .5 slots I tried were not paying out well.

Thanks to all about the Westward Ho info. I don't think that we'll chance it though we may go for the margueritas! tongue.gif I'll have to run it by VegasKathy and see what she says. I think we will probably do the Trop for at least two of the four nights we are out there. :D

i like the casino in the boardwalk. it was the only one that i walked in with 10 dollors and doubled my money in less than 10 minutes. i walked out while i was ahead. NYNY was not bad, we stayed there. the casino is tight, but its not bad. for the price it was decent. oh, but .75 in a machine after winning at boardwalk and walked away with another 25 bucks

I love the casino at Boardwalk, but I have never tried the hotel. The room prices always seem to be a bit high for that level/class of hotel. I'd love to hear a room/hotel report if anyone has stayed there.

The HO! hahahahaaha!! That is hillarious... I've never heard it called that, but I know it will be the Ho to me forever now.... hahahahaa

Here is my opinion of the Ho. Don't do it. For me, it just represents that part of Vegas you can't think about...as others have already pointed out, it's quite run down, and there are people in there that you Know should not be spending that $10 on gambling. For me there is just too much negative energy....I can't deal with that on my vacation. I guess if that kind of stuff doesn't get to you, feel free to put the OH! in Ho! hahahahaa I'd rather pay more and be in a clean place with happy people.

We had the $.99 Dog, the $.99 Strawberry shortcake, and the $.99 Margarita, and ended up with a $2.97 upset stomach!
Nice lounge at the back, with low seats by the way
